Cross River State Chapter
PRESS STATEMENT
The Ohanaeze Ndigbo, Cross River State Chapter, the apex Igbo umbrella organization, had its second quarterly meeting at Gomex Plaza, Calabar on July 6, 2019. The meeting, which was attended by all the affiliate unions from the 18 local government areas of the state, among others deliberated on issues and way forward for its members in the state.
At the end of the meeting the Assertion states as follows:
1. That Ohanaeze Ndigbo Cross River is composed of all Igbo Community Associations operating in all the local government areas of the state. It was formerly known and called Igbo Consultative Assembly before it became a chapter of Ohanaeze Ndigbo National.
2. That Igbo Community Calabar (ICC) is one of the component part or unit of Ohanaeze Ndigbo, CRS Chapter;
3. That Igbo are firmly united under the apex umbrella body and remains indivisible and united with sole aim of working in harmony and to promote the peaceful existence among member unions. Thus, Ohanaeze Cross River remains the mouth piece of the entire formation in the state.
4. That the organization expresses gratitude to the host communities over the cordial relationship and mutual cooperation existing between the hosts and Ndigbo.
5. That we use this opportunity to congratulate the Governor of Cross River State, His Excellency, Prof Sen Ben Ayade, and Deputy Gov Ivara Esu on their re-election and subsequent swearing-in for the second term. His overwhelming support at the poll is a demonstration of the love the electorate has for him and we are optimistic that his second coming would bring more smiles on the people;
6. That the organization deeply appreciates the good gesture of HE Ben Ayade by attending the Ohanaeze Day Celebration and the 28thAnniversary of the Leadership of Eze Sir E. A Ezenwenyi, the Eze-Igbo and father of Igbo in Cross River, which was held on November 24, 2018 at Abraham Ordia Stadium. We sincerely thank you for fulfilling some of the promises made to Ndigbo. We are indeed very grateful.
7. We, at this point, enjoin Your Excellency to partner with Ndigbo in his industrialization drive especially in the Deep Sea Port project to ensure maximum utilization on completion. We restate our commitment and willingness to partner with the state government to promote commerce and industry.
