Ogun: Nine persons die in four road crashes

It was a black Wednesday in Ogun State as nine persons died in four different road crashes across the State.

DAILY POST reports that three of the road crashes occurred on the Lagos-Ibadan highway, while one was on Olomore Bridge in Abeokuta.

A petrol-laden tanker had exploded along the Lagos-Ibadan highway, killing two persons around 6am, in front of CDK company, few kilometers after Sagamu Interchange, Ogun State.

Also, two men died in another accident at Mile 12, Ogere Market axis of the Lagos-Ibadan expressway.

The incident occurred at about 3 a.m., involving a total of six men, out of whom one was injured.

At Olomore Abeokuta, a man and a woman died in a lone accident as the driver lost control due to excessive speeding.

Around 1:15 p.m. on Wednesday, another crash occurred killing three persons on the Lagos-Ibadan expressway, around the same Mile 12 Market, Ogere, Ogun State.

The crash involving five men left one person with an injury and one unhurt, DAILY POST gathered.

An unregistered truck was said to have lost control and rammed into a Bajaj motorcycle marked LAR250AV and killed three persons.

The Federal Road Safety Corps spokesperson in Ogun, Florence Okpe, told DAILY POST that the truck driver killed the victims instantly and “zoomed off.”

“It was a hit and run issue,” Okpe said, adding that the injured victim was taken to Victory Hospital Ogere, while the Seriki Hausa at Ogere took custody of the corpses.
