…Massive crowd hails leadership impact, adopts motions of endorsement
Obudu Local Government Area erupted in celebration on Saturday as thousands of residents, traditional rulers, political leaders, and party faithful gathered at the Council Secretariat Field to endorse President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, Vice President Senator Kashim Shettima, Governor Bassey Edet Otu, and his Deputy, Rt. Hon. Peter Odey, for second terms in office.
The colourful reception and endorsement rally, marked by music, cultural displays, and chants of solidarity, was convened to recognize the performance and far-reaching impact of the APC-led governments at the federal and state levels.
In her opening remarks, Commissioner for Sports Development and Chairman of the Central Planning Committee, Hon. Agnes Atsu, said the massive turnout underscored the people’s confidence in their leaders.

“This endorsement is not a political ritual. It is a deliberate and bold statement based on visible performance and the life-changing impact of their leadership,” she declared to thunderous applause.
State APC Chairman, Barr. Alphonsus Eba, commended Obudu’s show of unity, praising the Council Chairman for effective grassroots governance. He stressed that the people’s resounding endorsement of Tinubu, Shettima, Otu, and Odey sent a clear signal of trust and continuity.
“This solidarity shows that the APC-led administration has not disappointed Nigerians. The people have spoken: the way forward is continuity,” he asserted.
Representing Governor Otu, his Chief of Staff, Hon. Chief (Dr.) Emmanuel Ironbar, expressed gratitude to the people of Obudu for their steadfast loyalty. He pledged that the Governor would continue to prioritize rural development, agriculture, and enhanced social services under his People-First agenda.
“This endorsement is both an honour and a challenge to do more. Your faith in us inspires renewed commitment. Obudu and the entire state will continue to feel the positive impact of good governance,” Ironbar assured.
He also encouraged residents to register in the ongoing INEC Continuous Voter Registration exercise, emphasizing the importance of strengthening their political voice ahead of 2027.
In his vote of thanks, Obudu Council Chairman, Hon. (Amb.) Peter Akonfe Undiandeye, hailed Governor Otu for raising governance standards and tackling pressing socio-economic challenges. He also praised stakeholders, traditional leaders, and support groups for ensuring the success of the rally.
Goodwill messages from respected figures, including Chief Eugene Ake, Dr. Paul Adalikwu, Mrs. Kate Agba-Ajibike, and the Paramount Ruler of Obudu, HRM Chief Felix Okudare, lauded President Tinubu for his bold reforms and applauded Governor Otu’s people-oriented leadership.
The climax of the event was the adoption of formal motions of endorsement. The Member representing Obanliku/Bekwarra/Obudu Federal Constituency, Hon. Peter Akpanke, moved the motion endorsing Tinubu and Shettima, seconded by Deputy Speaker of the State House of Assembly, Hon. Sylvester Agabi.
Similarly, elder statesman Hon. Chief Tony Undiandeye, JP, moved the motion endorsing Governor Otu and his Deputy, which was seconded by former Chief of Staff, Hon. Chief (Dr.) Martin Orim. Both motions were unanimously adopted by the jubilant crowd.
The electrifying rally, attended by thousands of APC faithful, women, youth, and cultural troupes, ended with songs and dances that echoed a single message: Obudu stands solidly for continuity in 2027.
