CROSS RIVER STATE MINISTRY OF YOUTH AND SPORTS DEVELOPMENT SPORTS INTERVENTION IN IPONG COMMUNITY PRIMARY SCHOOL AND A SELECT OF OTHER PRIMARY SCHOOLS ACROSS THE EIGHTEEN LOCAL GOVERNMENT AREAS OF THE STATE.
The Cross River State Ministry of Youth and Sports Development under the watch of Comr. Asu Okang as Commissioner have been engaged in Sports intervention across the State primary schools providing them with sporting equipments in diverse indoor and outdoor sports and games.
Over 50 Primary schools in the State were selected as beneficiary of this intervention.
The St. Theresa primary school, Obudu was not left out as pupils and management of the school who got wind of the visit by the Honourable Commissioner for Youth and Sports mobilized en masse in a glamorous welcome with the community’s clan head, elders, youth leaders and political appointees.
The pupils in show of solidarity for the recognition given them, all appeared dressed in school uniforms even as they are on the long vacation.
The Honourable Commissioner for Youth and Sports Comr. Asu Okang who was accompanied by the Commissioner for Education Hon. Godwin Ettah and the SSA Mathias Akeh and some of the Special Assistants and Personal Assistants to the Governor on Youth Mobilization, made some cash donation pledged to do more for the school as to commemorate His Excellency’s Sen. Prof. Ayade Benedict strides as an alumnus of the school.
The Sporting items issued to the school was in outdoor sport, football category. Items include; An international standard goal post with trophies, net, over 22 playing boots, shin guard and host, jerseys, whistle, complete items for officials and a FIFA standard football.
The Commissioner for Youth and Sports Comr. Asu Okang thanked the clan head for his patience, support and warmth reception with an extension to the Principal of the school.
The clan head High Chief Joseph Atuaka lunched the items as he was recorded to have scored the first goal.
