The National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) has deployed 1,658 corps members to Anambra state for the 2024 Batch “B” Stream II orientation course.
The State NYSC coordinator, Mrs. Blessing Ekene Iruma disclosed this during the swearing-in ceremony, held at the Nnamdi Azikiwe NYSC Unity Permanent Orientation Camp Umauwulu/Mbaukwu in Awka South Local Government Area of the State, on Friday.
She noted that out of the 1,658 registered rospective corps members deployed to the State, 760 are males while 898 females.
According to her, all arrangements had been put in place to ensure that corps members were comfortable within the period of the orientation course.

While emphasizing the importance of Skills Acquisition and Entrepreneurship Development, (SAED), of the Scheme, Mrs Iroma used the event to solicited the support and cooperation of all relevant stakeholders for a successful and hitch-free orientation course.
Declaring the ceremony open, the State governor, Charles Soludo, called on the Corps members deployed to the State to drive his administration’s agricultural revolution aimed at addressing food shortage and promoting local consumption.
Speaking through his Chief of Staff, Mr Ernest Ezeajughi, Soludo emphasized the importance of collective engagement in agriculture to solve food scarcity.
In his address, the State Chairman, NYSC Governing Board, Hon. Patrick Aghamba, represented by Chief Engr. Martin Agbili, urged corps members to master the Igbo language to navigate their service year effectively.
Oath of allegiance were administered to the Corps members by Hon. Justice N.L. Oyeka, representing the State Chief Judge.
The ceremony which also featured a martial art display by the NYSC Martial Art group has in attendance, the State Commissioner for Education, Prof. Ngozi Chuma Udeh, the Heads of Federal Establishments in the State, Mr. Chijioke Okechukwu, among others.
