Nottingham Forest have released an injury update for a key player ahead of their Premier League clash with Manchester United on Tuesday.
With only two days until the teams meet at The City Ground, an update on a recently injured key Forest player could be a sign for encouragement for the Red Devils.
United have lost their last two Premier League games against Forest, and following their 3-2 win at Old Trafford in December, Nottingham Forest are looking to complete their first league double over United since 1992.
United boss Ruben Amorim has been wrestling with player injuries all season, especially in the back four, with Luke Shaw still out until May with a muscle injury, for example, along with 4 other defensive players.
However, word of an injury update on one of Santo’s key players has reached Old Trafford that could impact how Tuesday’s game plays out.
According to The Metro, Chris Wood has not been ruled out of the match after the star striker fell painfully on his hip during New Zealand and New Caledonia’s World Cup qualifying clash on Monday.
The 33 year-old was reportedly in too much pain to continue after the knock and limped off the pitch to his fans applause and praise after 54 minutes.
With 18 goals in 29 games so far this season, for Forest to be without Wood on Tuesday would be for them to be without their top goal scorer.
The influential Kiwi scored the winning goal in Forest’s 3-2 clash with United in December, and so his involvement in Tuesday’s fixture could be a polarising factor in the result.
