Not only can Akuma now scarily combo into Raging Demon, his other Critical Art almost reaches Mortal Kombat levels of brutality

For basically three decades now, the Raging Demon has continued to be one of the hypest Supers in all of fighting games, and it arguably looks cooler than ever in Street Fighter 6.

Akuma is also continuing the trend of having access to more Super / Critical Arts than any other character in SF6, and the recent new footage and info let us learn about what they can do in action.

For starters, his official character guide showed that Akuma can combo into Shun Goku Satsu (Raging Demon) in SF6, which is pretty interesting.

Up until this point, the demon has generally worked under more traditional command grab rules that meant it couldn’t naturally be part of a combo outside of some very specific circumstances like a Focus Attack crumple in Street Fighter 4 — or playing Tekken 7.

It still works as a grab too, so we are a bit curious as to why he can even / would want to do that when his move list confirms Akuma’s regular level 3, Sip of Calamity, has a Critical Art version too.

Perhaps the forward movement of Shun Goku Satsu gives him more / different confirm routes from a distance.

Before this, we weren’t even sure if Sip of Calamity would have a Critical Art version, but now we can see that it looks pretty brutal.

Like the regular version, Akuma slams the opponent down on the ground and winds up in a shot that almost looks like it could be from a Mortal Kombat finisher though the opponent attempts to block the final punch.

The demon pushes through and generates an orb of Satsui no Hado power point blank in their face until it explodes in destructive fashion.

It’s a bit reminiscent of Luke’s Super to Critical Art, but the new DLC character’s take is quite a bit more flashy.

Going back to the Shun Goku Satsu, it seems like the kanji that references the old Ryu Final manga may only appear if the Super is going to KO, so players should be able to tell if a round is over very quickly when it lands.

We’ll be learning much more about the pros and cons of all of Akuma’s variety of Supers in SF6 when he launches on May 22.
