It feels like the dam is really starting to burst as we get closer and closer to March 31, 2025, the last day of Nintendo’s fiscal year. A little while back, Nintendo President Shuntaro Furukawa promised fans that the Switch successor would be officially unveiled before that point.
However, some interesting images have surfaced recently on one of the Chinese social media network sites. These images appear to showcase the appearance of the Switch 2’s left Joy-Con.
As expected, this supposed new Joy-Con looks pretty similar to the Switch’s Joy-Con, but there are some notable differences. The device appears to be mostly black, but is blue in the area where it’s intended to snap into the Switch 2.
Oddly, the images only show the Joy-Con from the side and the back. Despite this, we get the sense that this is the Joy-Con that’s typically held in the user’s left hand based on the positioning of the “ZL” button.
It’s interesting to note that the colored Joy-Cons for the Nintendo Switch are red for the left controller and blue for the right controller. However, this new device appears to invert those colors, likely to make it easier to distinguish between the Switch and Switch 2’s peripheral devices.
A few previous rumors have suggested that the Switch 2’s Joy-Cons will be capable of attaching to the portable device via magnets. While we can’t say for certain that this is the case by looking at the images, the “rail” part of these controllers do look different compared to those of the previous console’s.
Nintendo’s logo has been plastered on the back of the Joy-Con. This is similar to how the logo appears on the Switch Joy-Cons as well. Though it’s important to note that nothing is confirmed at the moment, these images feel like they might be legitimate.

Many people have pointed out that the serial number for this particular Joy-Con can be seen in the image. It’s being speculated that Nintendo won’t be going after the leaker for the moment since that would basically confirm the images’ validity, but problems could arise later for those involved.
One of the latest rumors for the Switch 2 suggests that Nintendo may be eyeing March 28, 2025 for its precise release date. According to a certain source, various first-party and third-party accessories intended for the Switch 2 are set to be made available on that specific day, suggesting that the hybrid device is also releasing then.
Over on YouTube, Doctre81 recently pointed out that a version of Batman: Gotham Knights was worked on for an “unreleased platform.” Considering that Microsoft and Sony have most recently released consoles, the process of elimination suggests that Gotham Knights is coming to the Nintendo Switch 2.
Notably, Batman: Arkham Knight did not run very well for the Nintendo Switch, so it would make sense for the developers to push Batman: Gotham Knights for the Switch 2 rather than the Nintendo Switch.
We also have a strong suspicion that Yooka-Replaylee is set to be one of the first games on the Switch 2. The developers behind this game have made it incredibly obvious with how they’ve been hinting that the remaster is set to be launched on “Nintendo” while specifically spelling out the Xbox Series and PlayStation 5 platforms.
Masahiro Sakurai recently informed fans that he’s been working on a secret game project since April 2022. The game proposal was apparently written up at “lightning speed” back in July 2021 when Sakurai was still working on Kazuya and Sora as DLC characters for Super Smash Bros. Ultimate.
As we get closer and closer to the estimated release window, leaks like these are becoming increasingly more common. Nintendo can only hold onto the information that fans have been eagerly waiting on for so long. We’ll just have to see how things continue to play out from here.
