After months of wondering what Nintendo has cooking up for the Switch in 2024, it seems like we’re finally about to get some answers.
A new Nintendo Direct Partner Showcase event was just announced, and it will be taking place in less than two days time from now.
As outlined in their reveal post, this Nintendo Direct is scheduled to go live this Wednesday, February 21, at 6 a.m. PT / 9 a.m. ET.
The broadcast itself is scheduled to last around 25 minutes in total focusing on Nintendo Switch games coming in the first half of 2024.
Since this is a Partner Showcase event, it will mostly be focusing on second and third party titles coming to the hybrid console rapidly approaching its 7th birthday and not so much Nintendo-developed games themselves.
That goes for Super Smash Bros. Ultimate too, which shouldn’t be surprising considering Masahiro Sakurai just said his work on the game is finally done after the newest update.
It probably goes without saying too that we shouldn’t expect to get any concrete news about Nintendo’s next generation successor to the Switch either.
That rings more especially realistic now with reports circulating that the new Nintendo console’s release has been pushed out of 2024 into 2025, so we could still be waiting quite a while longer to learn what it’s going to be.
There’s no guarantee of fighting game related announcements at this showcase, but it’d be cool to see some love given to something like Blazing Strike about to release in just a few months — and who knows, there could still be some surprises.
The Direct Partner Showcase will be available on Nintendo’s official YouTube channel and presumably streamed on their Twitch page too.
