The Nigerian Meteorological Agency (NiMet) has forecasted a dust haze across Nigeria from Thursday to Saturday.
In its weather outlook released on Wednesday in Abuja, NiMet predicted slight dust haze for the northern and North Central regions, with good visibility expected throughout the forecast period.
“On Thursday, slight dust haze is anticipated throughout the northern region,” NiMet stated. “The North Central region will also experience slight dust haze throughout the period.”
For the southern parts of the country, the agency warned of moderate dust haze, with visibility ranging from 2 to 5 kilometers during the forecast period. Additionally, early morning fog or mist is expected over the coastal areas.
“Moderate dust haze is expected on Friday in the northern region, with visibility ranging between 2km to 5km,” NiMet added. “The North Central region will also experience moderate dust haze with the same visibility range.”

The agency also warned of early morning fog or mist over coastal areas, with slight dust haze and patchy clouds expected during the afternoon and evening hours.
NiMet advised the public to take necessary precautions as dust particles will be suspended in the air, especially those with respiratory conditions such as asthma. “People with asthma and other respiratory health issues should be cautious,” it cautioned, urging adherence to safety advisories issued by relevant authorities.
Additionally, NiMet recommended that airline operators obtain airport-specific weather reports for better planning of flight operations. “Residents should stay informed through weather updates from NiMet,” the agency advised.
