NiMet lists C’River among five other states to experience heavy rainfall for three days

Heavy rainfall is expected to affect six states in Nigeria over a period of three days, starting from Wednesday, April 9 to Friday, April 11, 2025.

This information was made known by the Nigerian Meteorological Agency (NiMet), which released a weather bulletin on Tuesday.

According to the agency, the states to be mostly affected include Cross River, Akwa Ibom, Bayelsa, Edo, Delta, and Ogun.

The rain is expected to range from moderate to heavy in these areas.

Other states like Lagos, Ondo, Ekiti, Abia, Delta, and Imo may experience light to moderate rainfall within the same period, while some parts of the country will either have very light showers or stay dry.

NiMet also gave a heads-up about possible flash floods, especially in places where the rainfall will be heavy.

The agency warned that the rain might come with strong winds, which could pose dangers to both people and structures.

The public is advised to avoid driving through flowing water, as it may be deeper or stronger than it appears.

The wet roads may become slippery, and the reduced visibility during rainfall could affect traffic movement.

There is also concern that the winds might bring down weak buildings, trees, and electric poles.

Residents were urged to take safety measures such as turning off electrical devices before the rain starts.
