Virtual YouTubers (VTubers) have turned out to be a surprising new avenue to boost Street Fighter 6’s popularity and visibility, especially in Japan, and now some of them are officially crossing over with the fighting game.
Capcom recently revealed a new Nijisanji X Street Fighter collaboration transforming VTubers into the world warriors for exclusive merchandise.
There are eight different streaming stars featured across seven different items though you’d need to have some pretty good luck to get the specific one you want.
The Nijisanji idols included in the promotion are Yuika as Luke, Naraka Juri, Salome Zangief, Sophia Valentine Blanka, Rai Ken, Kanae Cammy, Hibari Ryu and Rito also as the big grappler.
Each one can be acquired on an “almost life-sized” tapestry, throw pillow, tote bag, acrylic stand, keychain, or button.
The real kicker here is you don’t actually get to pick what piece of merch you receive, at least when you buy them officially.
That’s because this Nijisanji collab is being run through Capcom’s Capkuji service, which is basically just a real life gacha store.
At least they post the odds of what you can get, so fans can know going in they’ve got a 45% chance of receiving just a button versus 1/100 odds for a tapestry.
There’s also special photographs that’ll be limited to only 10 winners in total.
Each pull is priced at 880 yen or around $6 USD (plus 660 yen / $4.50 for shipping) though big fans are probably going to be buying them in bunches.
Unsurprisingly these items also seem to be exclusive to Japan, but you can probably buy any individually piece you want online if you know where to look.
Orders open on October 3 and run through October 20 while the merch itself isn’t expected to ship until early to mid-March in 2025.
This is actually the second year in a row Nijisanji and Capcom have joined forces though they’ve gone with a different selection of talent this time around.
VTubers have brought in potentially hundreds of thousands of more eyes on SF6 thanks to events like the Crazy Raccoon Cup in Japan, and even the reigning Capcom Cup champion is a huge fan of the digital idol scene.
This has carried over a bit to the West now too with the recent Sajam Street Fighter Jam featuring English-speaking VTubers like Dokibird, Serotina, and Kanna Yanagi among the team lineups.
