As the Nation celebrates the 63rd anniversary of its independence from colonial rule, the Special Adviser on general duties to Governor Bassey Otu of Cross River State, Barr Akiba Ekpenyong has called on politicians across party lines to shun division, unite together for the common growth of the state and the country at large.
Akiba disclosed this while filing questions from journalists shortly after a Thanksgiving Service held at the Presbyterian Church of Nigeria, Hope Waddle parish as part of the celebration to commemorate the nation’s 63rd independence.
The legal luminary averred that the church must preach tolerance, love, unity, understanding and cooperation, adding that when citizens shun ethical, religious and political divisions, development will take centre stage in the state.
Earlier the Prelate and general assembly moderator of the Presbyterian Church of Nigeria, His Eminence, Ekpenyong Akpanika,
charged leaders and citizens with service to humanity. Preaching on the topic, Building a Legacy for the Next Generation Akpanika said the strength of a state lies in its youths and the energy of the youths must be channeled into productive activities.
The service which had in attendance top government functionaries, the Obong of Calabar, Edidem Ekpo Abasi Otu V, captains of industries etc.
