The Niger State Executive Council has proposed a N1.2tn budget for the 2025 fiscal year.
This was disclosed on Wednesday by the Governor’s Special Adviser on Media, Abdullberqy Usman Ebbo, via his handle on X.
The Commissioner of Budget and Planning, Mustapha Ndajiwo, who presented the budget during the council meeting held on November 26, 2024, revealed that the proposed budget represents a 32.94 per cent increase from the previous year’s approved estimates.
Ebbo however noted that the proposal comprises N188.42bn (15.68 per cent) for recurrent expenditure and N1.01tn (84.34 per cent) for capital expenditure.
He further stated that the Commissioner highlighted that the capital expenditure marks a 32.98 per cent increase compared to the 2024 approved budget, while recurrent expenditure reflects a modest rise of 1.18 per cent.
He said despite the 2024 budget being supplemented with an additional N191.98 billion, the 2025 proposal still represents a significant financial leap aimed at addressing critical developmental gaps.
