Cammy White has become a gaming icon since her debut in Super Street Fighter 2: The New Challengers back in 1993 for the arcades and 1994 for the home consoles of that era. Funnily enough, Cammy has become the most prominent over the other “new challengers” (Fei Long, T. Hawk, and Dee Jay) with the most appearances in the mainline series even though Cammy was traditionally one of the weakest characters throughout most versions of Street Fighter 2.
Luckily for Cammy fans, she’s traditionally been a top tier or high tier combatant in her most modern appearances in the Street Fighter series. This is typically due to her speedy attributes, mobile approach options, and flexible frame data, though she often has below average vitality as a tradeoff.
As it turns out, there’s actually some lore reasons behind Cammy’s attire while she fights. Of course, it’s not just a matter of her looking good for the spectators.
Supposedly, her iconic green thong leotard was chosen due to how it permits her optimal speed, mobility, and flexibility. Even while she operated as the Shadaloo assassin known as “Killer Bee,” she also fought in a thong leotard back then.
Back in Street Fighter 2 (and when she reappeared in Street Fighter 4), camouflaged paint can be seen plastered on her legs. She’s also known to wear a red beret, black combat boots, red gauntlets, and long pigtails throughout multiple iterations.
Her design in Street Fighter 5 is actually based on one of her earlier drafts for Street Fighter 2. Instead of camouflaged paint, she instead has straps, harnesses, and a gun holster wrapped around her, though Cammy has never been known to actually draw a weapon during her gameplay.
Like all returning characters in Street Fighter 6, Cammy’s appearance went through a dramatic rework in the latest Street Fighter entry. By this point in the timeline, she’s seemingly traded in her thong leotard for a sports bra, yoga pants, and a leather jacket with the United Kingdom flag adorned on the back of it.
Regardless, Cammy White has become an extremely popular target among female cosplayers. It’s always a nice sight for fans to behold.
As such, we recently took notice of Nic The Pixie’s Instagram page where she has photos of herself cosplaying as Cammy. More specifically, Nic The Pixie’s Cammy appears to be inspired based on how Cammy appeared throughout Street Fighter 2 and Street Fighter 4.
During her photos, Nic The Pixie can be seen taking bold poses from multiple angles. By looking closely, we can observe the presence of the green camouflaged paint on her legs. It would seem that Nic The Pixie has paid close attention to the details when pulling off her Cammy cosplay.
