Manchester United have now revealed the next steps with their plans to remodel their home ground with the Old Trafford Regeneration project.
Although it was recently revealed that their decision making is likely to be postponed until the summer, The Red Devils are still progressing with their plans.
The club are looking to completely regenerate Trafford Park, remodelling their home stadium of Old Trafford. The club intend to build a 100,000 seater stadium to replace Old Trafford as the club’s first-team home ground.
However, Old Trafford won’t be going anywhere, only getting downscaled to a 33,000 seater, becoming the home of the Women’s side and the academy squads.
The regeneration is set to bring in £7.3 billion to the UK economy, creating 92,000 jobs and more than 17,000 new homes, bringing in 1.8 million visitors per year.

Old Trafford Regeneration project’s community consultation
Now, Manchester Evening News have announced that the Old Trafford Regeneration project team are starting a new consultation exercise. The consultation will take place with the people and businesses living and operating in and around the ground.
The purpose of the exercise is to “to ensure the views of residents and community members are at the heart of the plans to regenerate the area”.
An online survey will be available to complete from 9am on Wednesday 13th November 2024. The form will be open for just under a month, with a deadline of 11:59pm on Wednesday 4th December 2024.
The community consultation will formally start with the online survey and focus groups. This will include speaking to local businesses, community groups and local institutions.
The club are hosting open days throughout December at Old Trafford for the local community to attend in person and discuss the project.
The leader of the Trafford Council, Tom Ross, commented: “It is critical we hear from as many residents and community members as possible during this process to ensure we can capture all their views and as we start to shape the plans for the regeneration of the area around the stadium.”
He continued: “This important survey is the first stage of our wider public consultation and will be followed by focus groups and in person consultation sessions to make sure the voice of the local community is at the heart of our approach and decision-making process.”
