  • Ruben Amorim makes Andre Onana decision

Manchester United’s Europa League quarter-final second leg against Olympique Lyon is rapidly approaching, and the stakes couldn’t be higher for the Red Devils.

With the first leg finishing 2-2, United will need a solid performance to secure their place in the semi-finals.

Manager Ruben Amorim has faced growing pressure, not only to deliver results in Europe but also to manage the team’s current struggles in the Premier League.

As the club fights to get into Europe, their European ambitions are even more critical, especially with the financial consequences of missing out on Champions League qualification.

Injuries have also played a significant role in Manchester United’s season, with key players struggling to maintain consistency.

As Amorim continues to navigate these challenges, decisions around player selection and match tactics are critical for the club’s survival in Europe.

United will need their best players to step up when it matters most, particularly in high-stakes fixtures like this one.

In terms of goalkeeping, Andre Onana’s situation has been closely watched by fans and pundits alike.

Despite some of the recent ups and downs in his performances, the 28-year-old goalkeeper remains a central figure in the squad.

His consistency and leadership have been under the microscope this season, especially after missing out on a starting place against Newcastle over the weekend.

Andre Onana was dropped after his mistakes cost United a win in their first leg against Lyon last Thursday.

Now, after a period of uncertainty surrounding his place in the starting XI, it has been confirmed by Fabrizio Romano on X that Andre Onana will return and start against Olympique Lyon at Old Trafford.

The decision comes directly from Ruben Amorim, who has made it clear that Onana will play a pivotal role in this crucial match for the Red Devils.

Fans will be hoping that Onana’s experience and shot-stopping ability will make a difference as Manchester United looks to advance to the next stage of the Europa League.

  • Manchester United shortlist FOUR goalkeepers to replace Andre Onana

Manchester United are desperate for a new goalkeeper as Andre Onana has had a significantly poor performance, losing the confidence of the United staff.

Onana is currently leading the way as the Premier League goalkeeper with the most mistakes directly resulting in conceding goals, a stat he’ll want to shake as soon as possible.

Due to his problematic decisions in games, with their first leg against Lyon in the Europa League being a prime example, Ruben Amorim dropped the goalkeeper from his starting squad against Newcastle.

In Onana’s place, Amorim gave back-up goalie Altay Bayindir a run out, however the Turkish goalkeeper made several Onana level mistakes.

Despite this, United’s first-choice keeper is still unsure if he’ll feature tomorrow against Lyon at Old Trafford, with United ramping up the search for his replacements.

Manchester United identify key targets to replace Andre Onana

I News has reported that United currently have a list of four individuals who United are looking to as an upgrade from Onana.

The shortlist includes Parma star Zion Suzuki, AC Milan’s Mike Maignan, Brighton’s goalie Bart Verbruggen and Porto shot-stopper Diogo Costa.

It’s understood that these four were also joined by former United goalkeeper David de Gea as a potential to return, despite being replaced by Onana and left clubless in 2023.

However, de Gea has now extended his contract with Fiorentina, keeping him with the Serie A side for another year.

It could be that United target two of their shortlist, also needing a replacement for Bayindir who is expected to leave in the summer to pursue first-team football.

With Tom Heaton also looking at retiring at the end of the season, the goalkeeper department at Old Trafford is set for a complete overhaul this summer.

  • Marcus Rashford on life at Aston Villa

Marcus Rashford has already settled into life at Villa Park as the attacker once more finds his form on loan with Aston Villa.

Rashford enjoyed another strong showing last night as Villa beat PSG 3-2 in the second leg of the Champions League Quarter-Finals.

Unfortunately, the result wasn’t enough to secure their place in the Semi-Finals, losing 5-4 on aggregate.

Since joining Villa in the summer, Rashford’s made 15 appearances, with three goals and six assists, also reclaiming his spot in the England national side.

The 27-year-old is certainly showing glimpses of his former self, with Manchester Evening News reporting he’s “never been happier”.

Marcus Rashford and life at Aston Villa

Rashford is reportedly appreciative of Emery’s man-management, with the manager being a key reason to the attacker agreeing on the loan move.

However, Villa are still undecided on whether to trigger the £40 million option to buy at the end of the season.

The main sticking point appears to be his astronomical wages, which put off suitors throughout the winter transfer window.

It’s expected that United will need to agree a pay-out for Rashford to take a cut on his £325,000 per week wages, which Villa are currently paying 75% of.

It’s understood that the pay-out could be around £20 million, halving how much United would get from Villa agreeing on a permanent move.

  • Cristiano Ronaldo makes decision on future

Manchester United may have their sights set on a top-four finish before the start of the season, but the off-pitch buzz has been just as busy.

Manchester United are in a terrible spell as the Red Devils languish in 14th place in the Premier League.

Their only real hope of playing any European football will be to lift the Europa League title.

Several United legends has had their say on the team throughout the season with many criticizing the side for their dire results and performances.

Meanwhile, over in Saudi Arabia, a former Red Devil continues to make waves in stunning fashion.

Cristiano Ronaldo has agreed to extend his stay at Al Nassr, putting pen to paper on a deal that could keep him at the club for another two seasons, as reported by Marca.

The Portuguese icon is believed to have accepted an offer that includes an optional final season, with hopes of reaching the milestone of 1000 career goals before hanging up his boots.

Ronaldo currently sits on 934 professional goals and remains the Saudi Pro League’s top scorer this season, with 23 goals to his name.

Despite turning 40 earlier this year, the former United forward shows no signs of slowing down and continues to lead Al Nassr’s charge both on and off the pitch.

Negotiations over his renewal reportedly began as far back as January, with details needing to be ironed out regarding commercial and sporting commitments.

There was talk of the Portguese earning a possible €200 million per season.

Ronaldo’s influence in the league has gone beyond the pitch — playing a central role in building the club’s infrastructure and attracting marquee names to Saudi football.

Al Nassr have also brought in Fernando Hierro as sporting director, while the ownership continues to invest in player recruitment and long-term growth.

With the 2026 World Cup in his sights, Cristiano Ronaldo is set to lead Portugal into one final major tournament, with the dream of lifting silverware on the global stage.

His continued commitment to Al Nassr, and the Saudi game at large, cements his legacy as more than just a footballer — but a movement-maker.

While United have moved on from their talismanic No.7, the legend of Cristiano Ronaldo is still being written.

  • Bayern Munich midfielder offered to Manchester United

Manchester United’s midfield remains a key priority under Ruben Amorim as the summer transfer window looms.

With the midfield performances recently coming under scrutiny, Amorim is keen on adding more energy and dynamism to the squad, and also looking to move on several players.

United’s scouting network has been working overtime, particularly focusing on defensive midfielders who can provide stability and add a new dimension to the team.

With a host of top midfield targets on the horizon, Amorim and his team are also considering options that have a proven track record in the Premier League.

After a difficult first season at Bayern Munich, it looks like Joao Palhinha’s agent is working to get his client back to the Premier League.

According to CaughtOffside, the Portugal international is likely to be offered to the likes of Arsenal, Liverpool, and Manchester United.

Having struggled for regular playing time at Bayern, Palhinha’s representatives look to be exploring a return to England, with other top-flight clubs such as West Ham, Nottingham Forest, and his former club Fulham also possibly among the teams to watch out for.

Bayern could be prepared to let Joao Palhinha go after just one season, with the Bundesliga giants instead prioritising a new contract for Leon Goretzka as he forms a key part of their midfield.

Joao Palhinha was immense during his time at Fulham, and it’s easy to see why Premier League links are emerging ahead of the summer.

There is nothing concrete just yet, but it is understood that a return to the Premier League is Palhinha’s priority, and big names like Arsenal and United are likely to be approached to assess their interest in a potential deal.

The 29-year-old looked like he would be a fine signing for Bayern, but it just hasn’t quite worked out for him, even if he’ll still surely have admirers in England.

Palhinha would surely be welcomed back to Craven Cottage, but it’s also easy to imagine him being a major upgrade on someone like Casemiro at Old Trafford.

Arsenal, meanwhile, might also do well to consider Palhinha if he is indeed offered to them, as they have both Thomas Partey and Jorginho out of contract this summer.

  • Manchester United fans take legal action against police

Last week saw just under 3,000 Manchester United fans travel to France to support The Red Devils in their first leg of the Europa League Quarter-Final.

Unfortunately for the fans, a disastrous showing from Andre Onana saw United lose their 2-1 lead in the dying moments of extra time, losing the advantage going into this week’s game.

However, this wasn’t the start, nor the end of their problems.

Before the game, fans had to travel 13 miles from the centre of the French city to a conference centre to collect their entrance wrist bands for the game.

Then the fans boarded shuttle buses to the ground, with the whole experience generating significant extra expense for the away fans.

But this was nothing to the treatment they’d receive after the game.

Following the disappointing fixture, United fans were held back for an hour by the Lyon police, with the authorities even using tear gas against the fans.

Now, The Daily Mail has reported that the away fans are exploring taking legal action in response to the treatment they endured.

The report explains that the tear gas was used to stop United fans trying to access toilet facilities during the mandatory hold-back, facilities they were assured they’d have access to.

Now the Manchester United Supporters Trust are peaking with experts in both England and France to understand if there is scope for a legal challenge.

Whilst there are no details at this time for what it entails, it’s understood that the French police are at the centre of the action being taken.

  • Old Trafford matchday security suspended

At the start of the month, United fans witnessed a fairly uneventful Manchester Derby, with the occasion being the first time that neither club scored since 2020.

Despite the 0-0 draw, the fixture was far from uneventful with regards to the fans.

Before the match, The 1958 organised another protest linked with the Derby, a planned sit-in after the game to protest against The Glazers ownership.

The protest was also against the proposed change to seating around the dug-out which is the current allocation for some the longest-held season tickets.

However, during the sit-in after the game, one fan found himself up close and personal with Old Trafford stewards, as he was forcibly removed and restrained by the attendants.

The incident was caught on video by another fan, purposefully filming to ensure that “no one oversteps the mark”.

United previously commented that they are aware of the situation, however can’t comment due to ongoing investigations.

Now, The Daily Mail has reported that the incident is being further investigated by Greater Manchester Police.

The police force have explained that whilst they are reviewing footage from CCTV and fan-recorded videos and witness statements, no charges have been made as of yet.

However, the stewards in question will not be working at Old Trafford whilst the investigation is taking place.

In a response to The 1958 about the incident, United CEO Omar Berrada commented: “A police investigation into the incident is under way and we will not be making any comment whilst that is ongoing.”

He continued: “We can confirm that the security personnel involved in the incident will not be working for the club pending the outcome of that process.”

  • Former Premier League strikers respond to Marcus Rashford

Manchester United attacker Marcus Rashford is looking like he’s coming to the end of his time with The Red Devils as he thrives on loan with Aston Villa.

The 27-year-old joined The Red Devils 20 years ago at the age of eight, rising through the academy and becoming a vital part of the squad over recent years.

In the 2022/23 season, Rashford recorded his career-best goal contributions, with 30 goals and 12 assists in 56 games as he helped United achieve third in the Premier League, runners up of the FA Cup and victors of the Carabao Cup.

However, since then the striker-turned-winger has failed to impress under Erik ten Hag and then Ruben Amorim.

The Red Devils began considering offloading their academy graduate due to his excessive wage demands of £315,000 per week, and his off-field antics affecting his on-pitch focus.

Unfortunately for the club, no suitors were willing to discuss a permanent move due to his wages, and with no improvement in his attitude, Rashford was ultimately dropped from the squad by Amorim.

However, in January Aston Villa came knocking, signing the United wantaway on loan with an option to buy for £40 million at the end of the season.

Since moving, Rashford has been thriving, with three goals and six assists in 15 games, including setting up Ezri Konsa in tonight’s win over PSG.

Villa went into tonight’s Champions League game 3-1 down on aggregate, with the 3-2 win not quite enough to defeat the Ligue 1 leaders.

Unfortunately an early mistake from Rashford led to PSG securing a goal in the 11th minute as a poor touch led to a counter attack ending in Achraf Hakimi scoring.

However, Rashford redeemed himself with a stand out performance, earning praise from former teammate Wayne Rooney and former Premier League striker Daniel Sturridge.

Marcus Rashford receives praise for in-form loan spell with Aston Villa

Speaking on Amazon Prime, Sturridge heaped significant praise on Rashford, discussing his loan move, saying: “The narrative before he came here was that he’s not the same player any more.”

He continued: “That was the narrative. He’s proven everyone wrong.”

“We have to give him credit. There was a big narrative out there that Marcus Rashford is not the same player, and Ruben Amorim was correct about everything. But Marcus Rashford has come here and shown everybody this is who I am, and this is how I play. This is what I can bring to the table.

“As a football player, sometimes when a manager doesn’t fancy you, it’s up to you to show them: ‘I am good enough’. This is what I can do. Sometimes you are not going to get the love from the manager, and you have to go on loan or fight for my spot.

“[Marcus] has chosen to come here and it has worked out for him. Sometimes you make these decisions and it goes the other way. I’m really proud of him that he’s come here and shown everybody what it is all about.”

Adding to these points raised by the former attacker, Rooney commented on Villa’s need to secure Champions League football to retain top players like Rashford, despite his desire to see the attacker back at Old Trafford.

Rooney commented: “This is what I was saying before about Aston Villa needing Champions League to attract top players. And Marcus Rashford clearly feels he has a better chance of performing better and winning trophies with Aston Villa.”

He continued: “That’s a big worry for Manchester United, but for Aston Villa, that’s a positive sign. From Marcus Rashford’s point of view, I really want to see him like he was tonight, showing all his qualities.”

  • Manchester United in talks with unlikely partner

Manchester United co-owner Sir Jim Ratcliffe is doing everything he can to ease the club’s financial pressures and build the club’s global brand.

Throughout the last year and a bit, Ratcliffe has led some extremely controversial decisions such as raising ticket prices, cutting funding to associated groups and making mass redundancies.

However, the INEOS owner has also claimed that without these cost-cutting measures, the club would be bust by Christmas 2025.

That said, Ratcliffe isn’t only engaging in measures to support the club, but also looking at how the United brand can support other causes.

In a seemingly strange link to the outside world, the Government of Tanzania are in talks with Manchester United to explore opportunities in sports development and wildlife conservation in the African country.

The Daily Mail and Kennedy Wandera have reported that United are looking to use their global brand to promote Tanzania as a tourist destination.

Whilst this partnership may seem completely out of the blue, the links are already there through the INEOS owner.

Ratcliffe’s company Six Rivers is currently in Tanzania promoting conservation initiatives, with Sir Jim Ratcliffe meeting with President Samia Suluhu in Dar es Salaam last Friday.

The Red Devils have also released a video with manager Ruben Amorim discussing the meeting, holding a signed shirt with the name “DR SAMIA” on the back with captain Bruno Fernandes’ number 8.

The Portuguese manager commented: “‘I know you are in conversations with Jim about conservation projects in Tanzania.”

He continued: “We hope it goes well. We know you are a huge Manchester United fan and I hope to see you soon at Old Trafford.”

The video also included Sir Alex Ferguson in what could be one of his final appearances as the club’s global ambassador, saying: “Hello Dr Samia, Alex Ferguson here. I know you’re talking to Jim Ratcliffe about important wildlife project in your beautiful country Tanzania.”

He continued: “I hope with your support that your government and Jim Ratcliffe’s interest, that you’ll be successful and protect those beautiful animals.”

  • Manchester United 2025/26 home kit photo leaked

As the 2024/25 Premier League season comes to a close, clubs are now looking to the summer transfer window to rejuvenate their squad ahead of their next campaign.

However, it’s also now that we start getting some glimpses as what kit the new signings could potentially be wearing.

Now, thanks to Opaleak, we have our first leak of the new Manchester United home kit for the 2025/26 season.

We first had an idea of what next season’s kits could look like when the concepts were leaked in February, with concept kits created for the home kit as well as the away, alternate and goalkeeper strips.

    Manchester United Kits 2025/26
Image Credits: @jp_kits via Footy Headlines

The new leak comes a month after the first images of United’s upcoming away shirt leaked, showing the white and purple design.

Naturally, the Adidas strip uses the red torso once again, with white for the Adidas and Snapdragon logos, also featuring the Manchester United crest.

However, the shirt also features black detailing, framing the main torso from the side panelling, leading up to the collar.

The collar itself features two thin black strikes on either side of a white band, with the same being replicated on the edge of the sleeves.

When comparing the photo to the first leak, showing off the concepts, the only real difference is the black detailing along the side of the strip.
