  • Fabrizio Romano confirms Bruno Fernandes transfer plans for next season

Manchester United’s captain Bruno Fernandes has been an absolutely vital part of Ruben Amorim’s squad this season.

His recent performance against Leicester, grabbing a goal and two assists in their 3-0 win a perfect example of his contribution to the squad, earning him a Team of the Week spot.

The midfielder has truly led by example with 16 goals and 15 assists in 44 games this season, making him United’s top goal scorer and most assists, with Alejandro Garnacho runner-up in both departments.

Whilst recent reports had indicated a potential summer move for the Portuguese star, Fabrizio Romano has now wade into the situation.

Bruno Fernandes to remain at Old Trafford

Writing in his GiveMeSport newsletter, Romano commented that Fernandes signed a new deal only eight months ago, back in October as things were kicking off with Erik ten Hag being sacked and Ruben Amorim being appointed.

With a new deal in place, it’s clear that Fernandes isn’t looking for a move away from the club, wanting to be a part of Amorim and INEOS’ project to restore United’s former glory.

Furthermore, Romano commented on Fernandes’ status in the team being a “key player for Ruben Amorim”.

The Portuguese manager clearly regards his countryman highly, consistently giving him praise, which isn’t a surprise considering how much Fernandes has carried the recent results.

The 30-year-old recently grabbed a hattrick against Real Sociedad to secure United’s spot in the next round of the Europa League, with the competition being their final chance at silverware and European football next season.

Manchester United secured a dominant 3-0 victory over Leicester City in their final Premier League match before the international break.

Ruben Amorim’s side took control at the King Power Stadium, with Rasmus Hojlund opening the scoring in the first half to break his 21-game goal drought.

United continued their dominance after the break, with Alejandro Garnacho doubling their advantage before Bruno Fernandes sealed the win with a well-taken strike.

Three Manchester United players earn place in BBC Team of the Week

The Red Devils’ impressive display saw three of their key performers earn a place in BBC Sport’s Team of the Week, selected by Troy Deeney.

Matthijs de Ligt, Alejandro Garnacho, and Bruno Fernandes were all recognised for their standout contributions to the win.

Speaking to BBC Sport, Deeney singled out De Ligt for his leadership and defensive resilience in United’s backline.

“Growing more and more as a leader in this Man Utd team,” Deeney said.

“Not many would have remembered it, but at 1-0 there was a massive block that he makes and it keeps Man Utd winning.

“No airs, no graces, he just gets the job done.”

Fernandes’ influence on the match also caught Deeney’s attention, with the BBC Sport pundit hailing the midfielder’s growing impact under Amorim.

“A key part to how Man Utd are playing,” he said.

“Fernandes gets more credit for his assists and goals, two assists and a goal obviously, and as this Man Utd team gets better so will he.”

Garnacho was another standout performer, with Deeney praising the winger’s determination and attacking instincts.

“Garnacho scored his first goal for 24 games against Leicester and the way he finished showed his pitch geography,” Deeney said.

“He didn’t look where he was, made pure contact.

“He drove forward, got at the Leicester defenders a lot and showed his commitment to the cause with his digging in.”

United will return to action after the international break with a Premier League clash against Nottingham Forest at the City Ground on April 1st.

  • Ruben Amorim provides injury update on Luke Shaw

Manchester United have had a rough ride this season with significant injuries to their key men.

Lisandro Martinez and Amad Diallo both had season-ending ligament injuries. Kobbie Mainoo has also been out for weeks but is due to return after the international break.

Also, Altay Bayindir has been side-lined, leaving Ruben Amorim to rely on problematic first-choice keeper Andre Onana.

Alongside them all, the routinely injured pair of Luke Shaw and Mason Mount have kept revisiting the treatment room on a regular basis.

However, Mount has now made it back into team selection, being an unused substitute in United’s recent 3-0 win over Leicester.

Now, his fellow injury-prone teammate is looking to be returning to the team very soon.

Luke Shaw looks close to returning to the pitch

Speaking after the Leicester fixture, Ruben Amorim discussed the international break, seeing United have two weeks away from fixtures.

The Portuguese manager commented: “We are going to divide the group. Some players like Mason Mount, Toby [Collyer], they have to work on their fitness.

“We have to recover players like Harry Maguire and Kobbie Mainoo.”

Then the manager specifically commented on the injured left-back, saying: “You have Luke Shaw, he’s going to be ready soon. Everything is prepared, everybody has an idea for this break.”

With two weeks of concentrating on training and fitness, Shaw will be hoping to recover enough to come back stronger against Nottingham Forest on 1st April.

As Amorim is without Martinez and now potentially without Ayden Heaven after his injury in the Leicester game, Shaw could stand a great shot at coming in as one of Amorim’s back three.

  • Fabrizio Romano provides updates on Jadon Sancho Manchester United return

Chelsea’s interest in Jadon Sancho has raised many questions as the English winger’s future hangs in the balance.

Jadon Sancho joined Chelsea on a season-long loan from Manchester United in August, with an obligation for the Blues to purchase him for around €30 million if they finish in the Premier League’s top 14.

However, recent reports from the Daily Mail have revealed an option for Chelsea to pay a fee to remove that obligation and allow Jadon Sancho to return to Old Trafford.

Despite this, renowned transfer expert Fabrizio Romano has made it clear that Chelsea intends to keep Sancho.

Speaking on his YouTube channel, Romano stated, “It’s true that Chelsea can pay a fee to Manchester United and not proceed with the obligation to buy, but that’s not the intention.

“From day one, Chelsea signed Sancho with an obligation to buy because they want to keep him, and Sancho wants to stay at Chelsea.”

The 22-year-old has been involved in two goals and six assists over 28 appearances for the Blues, proving his worth.

His current form, combined with Chelsea’s plans to secure him permanently, suggests that a return to Manchester United is unlikely.

Further complicating matters, the imminent signings of Estevao and Geovany Quenda may influence Jadon Sancho’s future at Stamford Bridge, possibly limiting his playing time.

Despite the potential competition, it seems clear that Sancho’s future is likely to be in west London, with both Chelsea and the player eager to continue their partnership.

  • ‘He has been fantastic’ – Wayne Rooney heaps praise on Manchester United ace

Manchester United secured a 3-0 victory over Leicester City on Sunday night.

Alejandro Garnacho and Rasmus Hojlund ended their goal droughts before Bruno Fernandes sealed the win late on.

It was a much needed win, considering Leicester’s current struggles under Ruud van Nistelrooy.

    Moreso, considering United’s own problems.

The win against Leicester certainly takes off a little pressure from Ruben Amorim’s shoulders.

Albeit the Red Devils are still sat in bottom half of the Premier League.

Chances of finishing in the European spots still very much look unlikely.

Ruben Amorim handed a full Premier League debut to Ayden Heaven who had impressed in the Europa League clash with Real Sociedad.

He slotted into a back-three alongside Matthijs de Ligt and Victor Lindelof.

The teenager put in an assured display before suffering an injury early in the second half.

Heaven needed medical attention before being stretchered off and was seen leaving the stadium in a protective boot.

His performance, however, earned widespread praise, with Wayne Rooney particularly impressed by the youngster’s composure and maturity.

Wayne Rooney waxes lyrical over Ayden Heaven’s performance

Speaking on Match of the Day, the former Manchester United captain shared his admiration for how the debutant handled the pressure of playing for a club of United’s stature.

“Obviously, it is a huge football club, but at this time now where it is not maybe going right.

“To come in and play for Manchester United at 18, it is a lot of pressure,” Rooney said.

“Those expectations are on you from the first minute.

“But I think in the games he [Ayden Heaven] has played, I think he has been fantastic.

“I came in as an 18-year-old at Manchester United and you do feel that pressure.

“But to come in as a centre-back, which is a position where you cannot afford to make mistakes as you get punished, it is very difficult.

“But he looks like he has been there for years – and that is the biggest compliment I can give him.”

The former United forward also hailed the defender’s move from Arsenal as a “coup”, noting that his prior experience at a top club would have helped him adjust quickly.

“He doesn’t look like he is playing with pressure, he looks calm, he’s composed.

“He gives them good balance with his left foot, he looks quick and he looks like he likes defending.

“I think he is a real coup for Manchester United.”

  • Ruben Amorim’s plans for the international break revealed

Manchester United manager Ruben Amorim has outlined his approach for the international break as a number of first-team players prepare to leave Carrington.

With a solid run of form recently, Amorim is focused on avoiding any further injuries, particularly ahead of the team’s upcoming match against Nottingham Forest on April 1st.

“In terms of time off, it’s difficult for the coaches,” Amorim said in his post-match press conference.

“We are going to divide the group.

“Some players like Mason Mount and Toby Collyer need to focus on their fitness.”

Injuries have plagued United recently, with key defenders like Leny Yoro, Lisandro Martinez, and Harry Maguire sidelined.

However, Amorim is hopeful that these players will return to full fitness soon.

“Mason Mount made the bench against Leicester, and I’m hopeful for his contribution moving forward,” said Amorim.

“Amad could also return earlier than expected, and we’re keeping a close eye on players like Harry Maguire and Kobbie Mainoo.”

“Some will rest more than others, and we’ll give tailored recovery plans to ensure we’re ready for the final stretch.”

  • Alejandro Garnacho matches Cristiano Ronaldo record

Alejandro Garnacho played a key role as Manchester United secured a 3-0 victory over Leicester City on Sunday night.

The win saw both Garnacho and Rasmus Hojlund end their respective goal droughts.

Hojlund scored his first goal in 22 matches, finishing with his weaker foot.

That was before Garnacho struck in the second half.

Bruno Fernandes then sealed the win just before stoppage time with a stunning effort.

United’s victory lifted them to 13th in the Premier League, while Leicester City’s survival hopes took a huge hit under Ruud van Nistelrooy.

Garnacho, 20, has already had the privilege of playing alongside his footballing idols, having shared the pitch with Cristiano Ronaldo at United and Lionel Messi for Argentina.

Despite this, it’s clear that Ronaldo remains his biggest inspiration, with the young winger regularly modeling his game on the Portuguese legend.

The Argentine forward took another step towards following in Ronaldo’s footsteps at Old Trafford with his goal against Leicester.

His strike meant that he has now matched a significant Premier League record previously set by Ronaldo before turning 21.

    What next for Alejandro Garnacho?

With nine league games left this season, Garnacho still has time to go one better before the 2024/25 campaign comes to an end.

Meanwhile, he will not be part of the March international break, having been cut from Lionel Scaloni’s latest Argentina squad.

This gives Garnacho a crucial two-week break before Manchester United return to action in April.

United’s next fixture is a trip to Nottingham Forest, which will be followed by a massive Manchester derby at Old Trafford.

With form returning, Garnacho now has the perfect opportunity to surpass Ronaldo’s tally before the season concludes.

  • Mason Mount returns to Manchester United matchday squad

Ruben Amorim has said that Mason MountMason Mount will return to the Manchester United matchday squad for the tie at Leicester on Sunday.

Mason Mount, who has endured an injury-hit season, is set to be available for selection after a spell on the sidelines. Amorim provided the update ahead of the trip to the King Power Stadium, indicating that the 25-year-old has recovered well and could play a role against Leicester.

The midfielder’s absence has been a frustration for United, with injuries limiting his impact since his highly anticipated arrival at Old Trafford.

However, his return comes at a crucial time as United look to maintain momentum in both domestic and especially European competitions.

Amorim has been carefully managing the fitness of his squad, and while it remains to be seen whether Mount will start or be eased back into action, his availability provides an additional midfield option.

United have shown improvement in recent weeks, and the return of a player with Mount’s technical ability and work rate could bolster their push for a strong finish to the campaign.

Leicester, managed by Ruud van Nistelrooy, will be aiming to challenge United at home, and the inclusion of Mount in the squad gives Amorim an extra tactical option.

With key fixtures ahead, the midfielder will be eager to make his mark and regain rhythm after a disrupted season.

  • Manchester United stance on Jeremie Frimpong revealed

Manchester United’s summer transfer plans were dealt a major blow on Friday as Geovany Quenda completed a shock move to Chelsea.

The Sporting Lisbon youngster had been a priority target for Ruben Amorim, with United keen on him for months, even before the new head coach’s arrival.

Once Amorim took charge, speculation surrounding Quenda’s potential switch to Old Trafford only intensified.

INEOS were reportedly discussing a £33m deal, with the player having agreed personal terms ahead of a move.

However, Chelsea acted swiftly and wrapped up the deal before United could finalise their approach, with financial constraints slowing down the Red Devils’ efforts.

Quenda’s signing for Chelsea has forced United to rethink their right wing-back options.

While missing out on Amorim’s former player is a setback, the club still have plenty of names on their radar.

Roger Fernandes has emerged as an exciting alternative, with the 18-year-old actually outperforming Quenda in Portugal this season.

Red Devils remain in contact with Jeremie Frimpong

However, a proven option could also be on the table, as Graeme Bailey has told United in Focus that Bayer Leverkusen’s Jeremie Frimpong remains in the frame.

“Jeremie Frimpong is a player that Manchester United had a historical interest in back in 2023 under Erik ten Hag,” Bailey said.

“I am told they pushed for him.”

Since then, the Dutch international has become one of the most sought-after right-backs in Europe.

Both Manchester City and Liverpool have been holding talks over a potential transfer.

“Man City and Liverpool have both been in talks with him.

CLICK HERE TO JOIN THE CENTRE DEVILS WHATSAPP GROUP CHAT NOW!

“They like him and the player I am told is ready to return to England,” Bailey added.

Despite that, United have not given up and remain in communication with Frimpong’s camp.

“United as it stands am told have maintained communication with his people, they know what is going on.

“But they are not at the head of the queue at this stage,” he continued.

A move for Frimpong would likely cost between £40m and £50m.

A fee which would be a major financial commitment for a position of real importance in Amorim’s system.

CLICK HERE TO JOIN THE CENTRE DEVILS WHATSAPP GROUP CHAT NOW!

Frimpong’s attacking prowess aligns well with what Amorim demands from his wing-backs, with his qualities closely mirroring Quenda’s.

FBRef even lists Frimpong as the sixth most similar player to Quenda, highlighting the shared strengths between the two.

However, with the 2026 World Cup on the horizon, Frimpong may consider his next move carefully.

Joshua Zirkzee’s recent omission from the Netherlands squad due to his United struggles could serve as a warning.

It may potentially play a role in Frimpong’s decision.

If United push forward with a move, they would be getting a ready-made option entering his prime.

Rather than a young talent still needing time to adapt.

However, the price tag and contract demands may see INEOS focus on a younger alternative instead.
