  • Ex-Manchester United talent breaks silence on departure

Manchester United’s commitment to youth development remains a key focus, with promising talents arriving from both the academy and external signings.

The likes of Leny Yoro, Chido Obi, and Ayden Heaven have all been given chances, reinforcing the club’s “If you’re good enough, you’re old enough” philosophy.

However, one highly-rated youngster recently departed, opting to leave United in search of a clearer pathway to first-team football.

Sekou Kaba’s move to Cardiff raised eyebrows.

But he has now spoken out about his decision, citing greater opportunities elsewhere.

Sekou Kaba speaks on why he chose to leave Manchester United

Speaking to Africa Foot, Sekou Kaba explained why he felt his new club provided the best platform for his development.

“Several clubs were interested in me, including Stoke City, Swansea City, and Norwich City,” he said.

“But after discussions with my management team, we felt Cardiff was the best option.

“And we have absolutely no regrets about that decision.”

His departure came amid increased competition in United’s academy.

Particularly in his position, which has been bolstered by new additions and emerging prospects.

Instead of staying and competing for minutes, he saw a more immediate pathway to senior football in the Championship setup.

“I chose Cardiff because it offers me a more direct path to the first team,” he added.

“I’ll be playing with the U21s rather than the U18s, which is a real plus for my progression.”

United’s attacking ranks at youth level have become increasingly stacked.

Especially with multiple promising forwards either developing within the system or gaining experience on loan.

It was always going to be a tough challenge to break through.

Ultimately, he made the decision to take his future into his own hands.

His ambition should be respected, and United will undoubtedly wish him success as he takes this next step in his career.

  • Kobbie Mainoo to be sold this summer

According to Florian Plettenberg, the club expects to free up funds through the possible departures of Victor Lindelof, Casemiro, Christian Eriksen, and Kobbie Mainoo.

These exits, whether planned or under consideration, would ease the wage bill and allow United to be more aggressive in the market.

In addition to these departures, the potential sales of Marcus Rashford and Antony could further boost United’s transfer budget.

Rashford has been linked with a move away following an inconsistent season, while Antony has struggled to justify his hefty price tag since arriving from Ajax.

Offloading both players would provide the club with even greater financial flexibility to target reinforcements in key areas.

With INEOS now overseeing football operations at Old Trafford, United are expected to make strategic moves in the transfer market.

Strengthening the squad remains a priority, particularly in midfield and up front, as Ruben Amorim looks to reshape the team ahead of the new season.

It was reported than United was looking to offload Kobbie Mainoo and Alejandro Garnacho during the January transfer window with many fans up in arms about this.

Mainoo was reportedly looking for a more competitive wage given his increased status in the squad and the England national team.

While the club has yet to finalize their list of targets, their ability to spend will largely depend on how many players they can offload in the coming months.

  • Manchester United Supporters Trust respond to ticket price increases

Earlier today it was announced that Manchester United have made the decision to increase ticket prices for the coming season.

This marks the third consecutive year that the club have increased the price of season tickets, each time by five per cent.

Earlier this season, the club announced the scrapping of concessions for children and Over-65s, making all tickets £66.

However, this move appears to be being reverted for the coming season, with the club reinstating concessions, however, tickets will now vary in price depending on the opponent.

Also, the seating around the dugout is set to become a hospitality zone with a premium price attached due to the proximity to the benches, a move already adopted by Chelsea and Barcelona.

In response to these changes, the Manchester United Supporters Trust (MUST) have made their thoughts clear and invited the fans to take part in a survey to express their feelings.

Manchester United Supporters Trust have opposed the ticket price hike

On their blog, MUST explained that United had been in consultation with the Fan Advisory Board (FAB) for feedback on the possible changes, however the FAB’s advise that now isn’t the right time for another price hike have been ignored.

Explaining their involvement in the consultation, MUST explained: “As MUST stated publicly prior to our FAB meetings, we have been and remain opposed to price increases.”

The continued: “In fact, ‘we’ in this case means you, our members. For it is not the Board or the Committee’s views we are representing, but yours, views that we gather through regular consultations online and in person.

“Though we have always been vigilant on matters related to ticketing, current circumstances make a price rise even harder to stomach. The team languishes in 13th place. United face financial problems arising from neglected investment, ruinous debt, and gross mismanagement—all of which we predicted prior to the takeover.

“Many called us scaremongers at the time, but how many would argue with that view now? All of this can be laid at the Glazers’ feet.

“There will be people who read these statements and think ‘you fans are never happy, stop complaining and trust in the process.’ They will condescendingly ‘fansplain’ as if we knuckle-dragging fans don’t understand finance.

“Inherent in their words is a blind belief in billionaires, as if making money in one sector makes them experts in football. Nonsense.

“United fans know the truth, namely that our club has been financially pillaged by the Glazer family for two decades. We acknowledge that Jim Ratcliffe has, as a major shareholder, for the first time in a generation, put money into the club, while also meeting with fan representatives and speaking publicly to supporters.

“But while he is right that the Club is in terrible shape on and off the pitch, the idea that United must get its financial house in order essentially overnight is a choice. The Club’s finances are a matter of public record.

“Moreover, our views are informed by two advisors who are some of the most knowledgeable people in the world of football finance and happen to both be United fans, one of whom sits on the MUST Board.

“Our owners—and here we are looking squarely at the Glazers—put us in this position, and it is they who should be putting their hands in their pockets to help get us out of it.”

The blog article goes on to label this strategy of making the fans pay for the errors made under The Glazers’ ownership as “offensive” and has acknowledged options being considered now that wouldn’t have been made prior to INEOS taking control.

The Manchester United Supporters Trust highlighted how the change of senior management means that the club’s  associated groups need to once more build a rapport with the United hierarchy, however concerns have already been raised with this due to the mid-season price hike that all groups were opposing.

MUST also challenged the new categorisation of ticket tiers for matches depending on the opponent, pushing for “the numbers of games in the higher categories should be limited” asking for most games to fall into the Category C base price so non-season-ticket holders aren’t hit too hard.

With only nine games left of this year’s Premier League campaign, Manchester United are still fighting to claw their way up the table, currently sitting in 13th place.

The end of the season will bring about the transfer market, a chance for The Red Devils to reinforce their squad for next season.

Now, we get a first glimpse at one of the kits that any new signings, and United’s existing stars will be wearing for next season’s campaigns.

Back in February, we were given our first leak of next season’s kits, with all three being teased.

The away kit was originally shown as a light lavender snow flake pattern in a gradient on a white background.

The kit also featured the Adidas, Snapdragon and Manchester United crest logos will be a plum colour, with a plum triple stripes on shoulders.

However, at the time another image accompanied the above, with a slight variation on the same concept.

This second variation shows the snowflake patterns as much bigger, also using the Red Devil logo instead of the Manchester United crest.

Also the second image shows a white, v-neck collar instead of the plum crew neck and now plum trim on the sleeves.

Now, Footy Headlines and Opaleak have released new images of the kit much more inline with the second variation.

The snowflake design isn’t new to United kits, having first appeared on the 1990/92 away kit, before coming back in the form of the 2015/16 third kit, the 2017/18 away kit and this season’s away kit.

  • Manchester United initial plans for major ticket price increase revealed

Today it was announced that Manchester United are set to increase their ticket prices for next season in a bid to increase revenue at the club.

The club is set to increase the price of season tickets by five per cent, the same increase that has taken place for the last two years.

Alongside this increase, The Red Devils are also looking at implementing a structured tier system of ticket prices for non-season-ticket holders, with the cost of the ticket depending on the club United are playing against.

Presumably, the other teams considered as the Premier League’s big six would fall into the top bracket, whilst newly promoted teams will be the cheapest tickets available.

However, regarding the increase for the season tickets, The Athletic has now revealed that the club were initially tabling a much higher increase.

Manchester United initially wanted a much higher increase to season ticket prices

Manchester United were reportedly looking at putting the price of season tickets up by 20% in a bid to ease the club’s financial pressures.

However, this was strongly opposed by an extensive consultation including the Fans’ Advisory Board (FAB), with the Manchester United Supporters Trust also damning the decision.

The FAB was established after United’s attempt at joining a European Super League back in 2021 which ultimately failed, with the group now having significant engagement with the club and direct communication with Sir Jim Ratcliffe and Omar Berrada.

Ultimately United decided to back down from the 20% increase to settle at 5%, with the smaller increase still looking to bring in £15 million according to sources close to the situation.

Putting the initial rise into context, teams like Liverpool, Tottenham Hotspur and West Ham United have already announces a price freeze for next season, whilst Newcastle and Brighton & Hove Albion have announced 5% rises, the same as United’s eventual decision.

Arsenal have announced a rise of between three and five per cent, whilst third place Nottingham Forest have announced a 8.5% rise, still 11.5% less than United’s initial proposal.

If 20% didn’t seem like an astronomical rise, in comparison to other clubs it’s certainly clear that this suggested rise was ridiculous, especially with the recent performances of the club.

  • Manchester United set new asking price for Marcus Rashford

Manchester United remain likely to sell Marcus Rashford, despite his recent turnaround since leaving the club.

Rashford, 27, is currently on loan at Aston Villa, where he has made a strong impression under Unai Emery.

His form has now earned him a surprise call-up to Thomas Tuchel’s first England squad.

That has reportedly allowed United to increase their valuation ahead of a likely summer sale.

Speaking to Football Insider, former club chief scout Mick Brown explained that United were initially prepared to accept a cut-price deal for the forward.

However, they now see an opportunity to maximise their profit.

“Man United are going to demand a high fee for him,” he said.

“Their asking price has increased after he was recalled into the England squad.”

Interest in Rashford has been growing, with Aston Villa keen on a permanent deal.

European giants remain interested in Marcus Rashford

Meanwhile European giants Barcelona and Bayern Munich are also monitoring his situation.

Brown believes that Rashford’s time at Villa has benefited all parties, leading to a better financial position for United.

“I said when he went to Villa that the move would be a win-win-win situation for the three of them, and I think that has been proven already,” he added.

“Villa have benefited from his impressive performances, he’s been allowed to show what he can do.

“And now Man United can benefit from his sale.”

With United’s summer transfer plans already in motion, raising funds through Rashford’s sale would provide a major boost to Ruben Amorim’s rebuild.

“It looked like they’d have to sell him on the cheap, but his value has only gone up,” Brown continued.

“With the interest from Villa and from abroad, and a place in the England squad, it will allow them to drive up his asking price.”

United are looking to strengthen in key areas, with the club remaining interested in Sporting CP striker Viktor Gyokeres.

The former Coventry City striker is of course, a player Amorim knows well from their time in Portugal.

Gyokeres, 26, is also said to be open to a reunion with Amorim as United prepare to reshape their squad ahead of next season.

  • Rasmus Hojlund shares defiant message amid goalscoring criticism

Rasmus Hojlund endured a difficult spell without scoring, but on Sunday night at the King Power Stadium, the Danish forward finally found the net again.

His right-footed strike against Leicester City ended a frustrating 21-game drought, sending a wave of relief through the United camp.

Rasmus Hojlund explained that it wasn’t quite the same as his first Premier League goal, but the significance was clear.

“I don’t think it was like the first time when I scored against Aston Villa, but obviously I was very happy and still am,” Hojlund admitted.

“I see it as a good step on the way, but I just want to keep improving and keep being better.”

His struggles this season have been evident, but the 22-year-old is determined to push forward.

“I know I’m not finished, the article or what you say over here, but I just want to keep going and keep becoming even better, and I’m sure I’ll get even better and score even more goals if I just focus on that.”

While goals define a striker, Hojlund insists his role is about more than just finishing chances.

“He wants me to stretch the pitch.

    “I think that’s quite obvious.

“Get me into the channels and keep the centre-backs occupied,” he said, discussing Ruben Amorim’s tactical approach.

“That’s what I’m trying to do.

“I think I got a good amount of speed and that’s what I’m here for.”

The stats underline his struggles—just 21 shots in 21 games before breaking his drought—but Hojlund remains confident that things are clicking into place.

“I think it comes down to my performances as well.

“I think I’ve not been on top of my game as I wanted to, and we’re still adapting to a new system and some new positions,” he admitted.

“But I think I’ve been growing into it lately and starting to look a bit better.

“Just happy to get on a score sheet today and I’m sure they will come more now.”

The understanding with his teammates is improving too, and Hojlund believes that will only help him thrive.

“I think we’re starting to get a bit more connection between myself and the players, and then starting to understand what my qualities are even more, and playing to them as well.

“I’m developing and understanding their qualities as well, and that’s what the manager wants.

“He wants us to play to our strengths, and now we’re starting to find each other even better.”

One of those growing partnerships is with Joshua Zirkzee, who has adapted well to a deeper role under Amorim.

“We didn’t get to play too much together in the beginning of the season, but now he’s starting to play in a different sort of role or position and he can still do the other part, but playing together with him is very nice,” Rasmus Hojlund said.

“He’s a lovely lad and I think competition is a good thing, but I think we also support each other’s qualities very well.”

Rasmus Hojlund has silenced the doubters for now, and with confidence returning, he is determined to build on this moment.

  • Manchester United closely monitoring two Bundesliga strikers

Manchester United are looking ahead to the summer as an opportunity to strengthen their squad, but particularly their attack.

Whilst Rasmus Hojlund scored against Leicester in their 3-0 win last night, The Red Devils have struggled to score, lacking a consistent finisher up top.

Hojlund’s goal ended his 20-game goalless streak, with Joshua Zirkzee also struggling to find the net on a regular basis.

As such the club’s recruitment team is scouring Europe for consistent and prolific goalscorers to bring to Old Trafford during the next transfer window.

Now, Florian Plettenberg has reported that their search has brought them to Germany, scouting two Bundesliga strikers.

Manchester United monitor Hugo Ekitike and Benjamin Sesko

The Sky Sports reporter has now announced that United are monitoring Eintracht Frankfurt’s Hugo Ekitike and RB Leipzig’s Benjamin Sesko.

The pair of strikers have been lighting up the Bundesliga and Europe with Ekitike grabbing 19 goals and eight assists in 38 games and Sesko grabbing 17 goals and six assists in 36 games.

As such, the duo have joined Sporting Lisbon’s Viktor Gyokeres and Napoli’s Victor Osimhen on United’s shortlist of potential strikers to target in the summer.

However, United’s business in the transfer window will heavily rely on the ability to make sales.

Already Chelsea’s obligation to buy Jadon Sancho is in question despite pulling out of the £25 million sale incurring a significant penalty for The Blues.

Elsewhere though there could be hope in offloading Antony and Marcus Rashford who have found tremendous form on loan away from Old Trafford.

In United can make sales, then a move for either Ekitike or Sesko could be a potential to help boost the attacking play which has been the primary area of concern under Ruben Amorim.

  • Manchester United increase ticket prices

Manchester United are looking at increasing their ticket prices in another effort of easing financial pressures for the club.

United’s new decision comes on the back of recent comments from Sir Jim Ratcliffe that without the measures the club would be bust by Christmas 2025.

Ticket prices have already been targeted by INEOS this season in one of their measures taken, cutting concessions making every ticket £66 irrelevant of age.

Now, The Athletic has reported that season ticket prices will rise by roughly five per cent next season.

This means they’ll be an average increase of £2.50 per ticket per game.

However, there will be a price freeze for season ticket holders under the age of 16.

This is a breaking story with more to follow.

  • Patrice Evra joins KSI and Sidemen

Former Manchester United left-back Patrice Evra is looking to take on a new venture, joining KSI and the Sidemen.

Evra spent eight years at Old Trafford with United, having moved from Monaco in 2006 for just under £7 million.

Over the course of his eight years, Evra made a total of 379 appearances for the Red Devils, scoring ten goals and grabbing 29 assists.

These contributions helped the club secure Five Premier League titles, a Champions League trophy, three English League titles, four Community Shields and a FIFA Club World Cup title.

However, after nearly a decade at Old Trafford, Evra ultimately departed, heading to Italy with Juventus for £1.6 million.

Unfortunately for the left-back, he struggled to find a long-term club after this, spending six months with Juve, eight with Marseille after a free transfer, then four months club-less before joining West Ham for three months before once more spending a year without a club before retiring.

Now, five and a half years after hanging up his boots, Evra is looking to take on a new role in the YouTube world.

Patrice Evra tries to break into YouTube sphere with Sidemen

YouTube sensations The Sidemen, a group that brought fame to the likes of KSI, are now running their own reality TV show called “Inside”, being described as a “Big Brother for influencers.

Now, Evra has made his debut in the show, introducing himself by saying: “Hi, my name is Patrice Evra. I’m 43. I’m a former football player. Now, I’m a creator, entrepreneur, businessman, and I make people happy.”

He continued by adding: “I really want to be in YouTube and do great stuff, and I hope in maybe one year, people will say, ‘Oh, this is the YouTuber’. I would prefer them to say that, then they say, like, ‘He is the legend of Man United’ or whatever.”

Not one to miss out on these remarks, show narrator and roaster Stephen Tries joked: “I can’t believe Manchester United are that bad that former players would rather be known as YouTubers.”

The show is streaming on Netflix with YouTubers forced to live under one roof, isolated from the outside world, completely without phones, computers or social media.
