  • Manchester United new stadium to be named

Manchester United have unveiled their designs for their new stadium set to replace Old Trafford as the home of the men’s team.

Billed as “the Wembley of the North”, the venue is set for a capacity of 100,000, making it the biggest stadium in the UK.

With backing from the UK government into the plans revitalising Trafford Park, turning it into a hub of innovation for sport, leisure and culture, United are keen to get the development underway.

Recent concept designs have revealed the stadium covered by a glass roof, showing the vast fan area of the development.

The proposed build times are setting out for the £2 billion stadium to be completed in time for the 2030/31 season, giving a five year timescale.

Now, United are looking to the next steps of the plan, naming the stadium.

Sky Sports have revealed that a lot of interested has already been generated in naming right for the ground.

Previously a renaming of Old Trafford was predicted to generate between £15 million and £20 million per year, however the potential backlash from fans in renaming such an iconic ground could have been significant.

As such, with United’s new home set to be a blank canvas, there’s no historic weight of an existing name.

Already it’s been reported that “investment and sponsorship interest has been through the roof” since United unveiled the plans of the new stadium.

It’s understood that the club’s existing sponsor Snapdragon are keen to get in on the action, with their intention to bid for the naming rights already tabled.

Whilst it’s not reported what this bid is valued at, it’s expected to be around the same value of that of Old Trafford.

  • USA side officially sign Manchester United forward

For many, the path to success is paved with highs and lows, but it’s the emotional struggles behind the scenes that often go unnoticed.

Manchester United’s women’s team has seen several departures over the past year, marking a period of transition for the club.

Key players who helped build the team’s competitive reputation have moved on to new challenges, leaving behind gaps that will be difficult to fill.

While some departures were the result of natural progression in a player’s career, others were fuelled by less playing time and the search for a better fit.

Manchester United women’s first team manager, Marc Skinner, appears to be nearing a new contract with the club, putting the futures of several of his players in doubt.

This week, Brazilian forward Geyse’s departure from Manchester United to Gotham FC was finalized, bringing with it a poignant reminder of the mental toll the game can take.

Her journey to the United States is not just about a transfer, but a significant step in overcoming personal and professional challenges.

For much of her career, Geyse has been a promising talent.

Her signing with Manchester United in 2023 was met with optimism, as she had previously showcased her skills with Barcelona.

However, her time in Manchester has been far from easy, as revealed in a candid social media post this month.

In the post, she shared her inner turmoil after coming on as a late substitute in United’s 2-0 victory over Leicester.

Her words spoke of feeling “lonely” and “in agony” — a raw and vulnerable expression of her mental state.

This was not the first indication that Geyse was struggling in Manchester, as her agent had earlier mentioned that United had attempted to loan her out to other clubs while she was attending her brother’s funeral in January.

The emotional weight of her words echoed through the football community, highlighting the pressure players face when they feel isolated or unsupported.

Geyse’s feelings of being trapped in an environment where she couldn’t find peace resonated deeply with many, especially in the often overlooked realm of mental health in sports.

Now, with a fresh start at Gotham FC, Geyse hopes to turn the page.

The 26-year-old will be playing under former Tottenham Hotspur manager Juan Carlos Amoros, and she’s excited to join a club known for its ambition and winning culture.

“I chose Gotham FC because they have a winning profile and a lot of ambition to win titles,” Geyse said in a statement on the club’s website.

“I can’t wait to wear this jersey.”

United’s interim head of women’s football, Matt Johnson, expressed support for the move, emphasizing that Geyse’s well-being was at the forefront of their decision-making process.

“We wish her well with Gotham,” he added.

Geyse’s time at Manchester United, while marked by personal challenges, was also a period of growth.

She made 39 appearances and scored three goals, but now, with a new opportunity in Gotham, she hopes to find the peace and success she’s been seeking.

Her move emphasises a key message: success is not just about goals scored, but also about mental well-being and finding an environment where a player can thrive.

  • Manchester United to assess SEVEN injured players in hope of return

Manchester United could receive a significant boost when they resume their season against Nottingham Forest next week.

United secured a 3-1 victory over Leicester City in their last Premier League outing despite missing nine players through injury.

Patrick Dorgu was also unavailable due to suspension, but he is now eligible for selection again.

    Key returns on the horizon

Harry Maguire was not risked against Leicester but is expected to return from a four-week layoff for the Forest clash.

Ruben Amorim is also hopeful that Kobbie Mainoo will be available after spending two months sidelined with a muscle injury.

According to Samuel Luckhurst’s report for MEN, a club source has indicated that several players’ availability will depend on how they come through training this week.

Ayden Heaven, who was seen in a protective boot after the Leicester match, is now out of it and could return to training.

Leny Yoro has missed the last two games with a foot injury, while back-up goalkeeper Tom Heaton is aiming to regain fitness in April.

Luke Shaw remains a long-term absentee but is edging closer to a return after four months out with a hamstring injury.

Amorim recently stated that Shaw is “going to be ready soon,” though no exact return date has been set.

Mason Mount made his return to the squad at Leicester after three months out.

The Englishman is expected to be available moving forward.

Manchester United also continue to face issues in goal, with Altay Bayindir out injured for nearly two months.

Andre Onana suffered an eye issue before the Leicester game but is expected to be fit for the Forest clash.

United’s unusually long 16-day gap between fixtures has allowed several players to manage their recovery.

The club had multiple players involved in international duty, but only four.

Onana, Noussair Mazraoui, Manuel Ugarte, and Victor Lindelof, were in action on Tuesday evening.

Christian Eriksen, Rasmus Hojlund, Bruno Fernandes, Diogo Dalot, Matthijs de Ligt, and Dorgu completed their international duties on Sunday.

Amorim has emphasised the importance of managing workloads during this break to ensure his squad is ready for the final two months of the season.

  • Erik ten Hag eyeing surprise European job

Manchester United’s decision to part ways with Erik ten Hag last year signaled a new direction under Sir Jim Ratcliffe.

Despite winning the Carabao Cup and FA Cup during his time at Old Trafford, Ten Hag was dismissed in October 2024.

A poor start to the 2024/25 season saw United look soulless in the Premier League, leading to his departure.

Ruud van Nistelrooy stepped in as interim boss before Ruben Amorim was appointed as the club’s new head coach.

However, Amorim has endured his own struggles, with inconsistent domestic form leaving United in the bottom half of the table.

Erik ten Hag keen on Juventus job

Now, Ten Hag is looking to make a swift return to management.

According to talkSPORT, he is “keen” on taking over at Juventus this summer.

Juventus recently dismissed Thiago Motta and appointed Igor Tudor as an interim coach until the end of the season.

While Ten Hag had been linked with a return to the Netherlands, he is now eyeing the job in Turin instead.

Reports in Italy suggest he will face competition from Roberto Mancini, Stefano Pioli, and Gian Piero Gasperini.

Ten Hag could unlock former United target

If Ten Hag lands the Juventus job, it could also impact a player once linked with Manchester United.

Teun Koopmeiners was heavily scouted by United last season before he eventually joined Juventus for £46 million.

The Dutch midfielder has since struggled under Motta, with Juventus fans questioning how he has been deployed.

However, Ten Hag’s appreciation for Koopmeiners’ skill set could help revive his career in Turin.

Even before a permanent appointment, Tudor is expected to use Koopmeiners in a more advanced role.

Should Ten Hag take over, Juventus may finally see the best of a player United once considered signing.

  • Manchester United face Premier League opposition for defensive target

Manchester United are up against some of their top Premier League rivals in a race for their new defensive target.

The Red Devils are still looking at building their squad to fit Ruben Amorim’s system, with most of the team assembled under Erik ten Hag.

Now, with reports of veteran centre-back Jonny Evans retiring at the end of the season and Victor Lindelof’s contract coming to an end, at least one new centre-back is needed.

As such, United’s recruitment team have turned to Bournemouth’s Dean Huijsen as a strong candidate to reinforce the defence.

The 19-year-old recently earned his first cap for Spain in their Quarter-Final matches against the Netherlands in the UEFA Nations League, grabbing an assist in the second leg.

Now, Spanish outlet AS has confirmed that United aren’t alone in their pursuit of Huijsen.

United are having to face off against strong rivals Liverpool and Chelsea in thier pursuit of Huijsen.

The young defender moved from Juventus in the summer for a fee of £13 million and has since become a focal point in the Bournemouth defence.

With 27 games for The Cherries already and two goals, including one against United, Huijsen has been vital in keeping Bournemouth in the top half of the table.

However, the Premier League trio aren’t the only clubs taking notice, with Real Madrid also interested in the centre-back.

With Huijsen being a fan of the LaLiga giants, it’s expected that they have the edge going into the summer transfer window.

Huijsen’s contract with the Cherries is in place until 2030, meaning that Bournemouth have no pressure on them at all to sell their star defender.

That said, the 19-year-old does have a £50 million release clause to by-pass negotiations with Bournemouth if any club wishes to trigger it.

  • Victor Lindelof breaks silence on his future at Manchester United

Victor Lindelof’s journey at Manchester United has been a topsy turvy one.

Having joined the club from Benfica in 2017 for a fee of around £31 million, Victor Lindelof was viewed as a promising talent.

Over the years, the Swedish defender grew into a reliable figure in the heart of United’s defense, partnering with the likes of Harry Maguire and Raphael Varane.

While his form has occasionally been questioned, Lindelof has remained a steady presence, earning praise for his composure and aerial ability.

However, with each season, competition for a starting spot has intensified, and Lindelof’s position at the club has become less secure, especially with recent arrivals and tactical shifts.

Despite spending a significant portion of his career at Old Trafford, Lindelof now finds himself in a position of uncertainty.

The 30-year-old is out of contract at the end of the current season, and United is undergoing a major squad overhaul under new manager Ruben Amorim.

Amidst all the changes, Victor Lindelof admitted that talks about his future are inevitable, and he plans to engage in discussions with those involved.

“I’m very comfortable at United,” Lindelof commented, as per the PA News Agency.

“I’ve been there for a long time and it’s the world’s best league.

“I’ll have to talk to everyone involved going forward.”

However, the defender’s future at the club is far from assured.

Reports have surfaced indicating that Benfica, the club where Lindelof developed as a player, is keen on re-signing him.

The Portuguese giants are reportedly interested in bringing him back to replace Nicolas Otamendi, who remains a key figure at the age of 37.

Lindelof has expressed his fondness for Benfica, admitting that the club holds a special place in his heart.

“Benfica as a club means a lot to me,” Lindelof said.

“It’s the club that made me the player I am today.

“I don’t know what will happen and what my decision will be.

“But it’s a club that means a lot to me and a club that I like.

“I don’t only have myself to think about.

“It’s a decision we have to make together as a family.”

Lindelof has found himself relegated to a more peripheral role at United this season, making just two Premier League starts so far.

The signing of Matthijs de Ligt, alongside younger talents like Leny Yoro and Ayden Heaven, has only made his situation more precarious.

With United also reportedly targeting Everton’s Jarrad Branthwaite to bolster their defense, it seems increasingly likely that Lindelof could be moving on come summer.

While the future remains uncertain, one thing is clear: Lindelof’s next decision will be a crucial one for his career.

  • Manchester United stars return to training after injury

Manchester United have endured a season plagued by injuries, with key players spending significant time on the sidelines.

Luke Shaw has struggled with persistent fitness issues, Lisandro Martínez has been in and out of the squad due to recurring setbacks, and Mason Mount has yet to build momentum since his arrival.

Rising star Leny Yoro has also faced injury troubles, adding to the defensive concerns.

With so many absentees, United have often had to reshuffle their squad, making consistency difficult to achieve.

A much-needed boost has now arrived, as two regulars have taken a crucial step in their recovery.

Manchester United insider Sully revealed on X that Kobbie Mainoo and Harry Maguire have resumed grass training, marking a key milestone in their road back to full fitness.

While their return to action is not immediate, the development is seen as a major positive for the squad.

“Understand both Mainoo and Maguire have returned back to grass training this morning,” Sully said.

“Both have done well in their rehab work in recent weeks and fitness levels have improved.

“Doesn’t necessarily mean they are available but a huge boost.”

Sully further suggested that Maguire could make his comeback before Mainoo.

Additionally, Yoro is reportedly making good progress in his recovery, providing further hope for the team.

Kobbie Mainoo, who has been out since mid-February with a muscle issue, was adjusting to new tactical roles before his injury.

Ruben Amorim had experimented with deploying him in various positions, including as an attacking midfielder and a False 9, but his absence left a gap in the squad.

Meanwhile, Harry Maguire, a vital presence at the back, has missed crucial fixtures due to a calf problem.

His absence was felt in key matches, including both Europa League clashes against Real Sociedad and league games against Arsenal and Leicester.

With United desperate for stability, the return of both players will come as a timely lift.

  • Manchester MP details how Manchester United turned down free stadium rebuild

Manchester United are weighing up the future of Old Trafford.

Sir Jim Ratcliffe and INEOS have outlined plans for a major stadium regeneration project.

The Red Devils are set to build a new, modernised 100,000 seat stadium to replace Old Trafford.

Financing remains a key issue, with estimates for a full rebuild exceeding £2 billion.

The lack of modern infrastructure at Old Trafford has left United falling behind their Premier League rivals.

However, Manchester MP Graham Stringer has revealed that all of this could have been avoided.

United were once offered a free stadium rebuild – but turned it down.

United rejected the chance for a world-class stadium

Writing in Manchester Confidential, Stringer shared details of a missed opportunity.

He recalled how Manchester City Council had offered United a deal before the 2002 Commonwealth Games.

“Our plan was to convert the Games’ venue into an 80,000+ replacement or competitor for Wembley,” he explained.

The proposal would have given United a modern, state-of-the-art stadium at no cost.

However, then-chairman Roland Smith rejected the idea, opting to remain at Old Trafford.

“United were the only club with sufficient support to make this viable.

“I had meetings with Roland Smith, who then chaired United’s board.

    “He rejected the offer.”

How Manchester City benefitted from Manchester United’s decision

With United uninterested, the council turned to Manchester City, who jumped at the opportunity.

“Given City’s smaller fan base, the size of the ground had to be reduced,” Stringer said.

City moved into what became the Etihad Stadium, helping transform their long-term prospects.

“This made them attractive to first Thaksin Shinawatra and then the Abu Dhabi United Group.”

City’s takeover in 2008 set the stage for their rise to the top of English football.

United, meanwhile, were left to maintain an ageing Old Trafford without external funding.

A “deep irony”, per Stringer’s words as a summary of United’s current struggles.

Stringer admitted he sees a clear irony in United’s stadium dilemma today.

“This and the subsequent investment in the team has led to City’s recent spectacular success and then improvements in the ground.

    Irony or what?!”

United are now facing an expensive rebuild – one they could have had for free decades ago.

  • Nottingham Forest star suffers injury ahead of Manchester United clash

Manchester United are gearing up for a crucial Premier League clash against Nottingham Forest on April 1, and they enter the game with a much-needed boost after some recent injury concerns.

The Reds come into this match after a strong 3-0 victory over Leicester City before the international break, which will have lifted their spirits.

United will need to continue their momentum and secure all three points as they head into this encounter.

Currently sitting 13th in the table, ten points adrift of the top seven, the Red Devils know that they must pick up victories in most of their remaining nine games to end off Premier League season in a somewhat decent position.

However, they have been given a break by Nottingham Forest’s injury woes.

The Forest team, currently third in the league, have suffered a significant blow as Chris Wood, their influential striker, was forced off during a World Cup qualifier against New Caledonia with what appeared to be a hip injury.

The 33-year-old has been a key figure for Forest this season, scoring 18 Premier League goals and contributing three assists.

CLICK HERE TO JOIN THE CENTRE DEVILS WHATSAPP GROUP CHAT NOW!

His absence in the upcoming match against Manchester United could hinder their attacking threat, with manager Nuno Espirito Santo now facing a difficult task without one of his star players.

Wood’s injury means Forest could struggle to break down United’s defense, especially considering his importance to their offense this season.

With Chris Wood sidelined, Forest’s chances of maintaining their high position in the league could be at risk.

Meanwhile, United will be hoping to take full advantage of this situation and continue their pursuit of a European spot.

United’s injury-free preparation mark exciting developments for the Red Devils as they gear up for their crucial match against Nottingham Forest as they look to climb the table.

  • Jonathan David drops big hint on his future

Manchester United are expected to be active in the transfer market this summer as they look to bolster their attacking options.

With several forwards linked to the club, speculation continues to swirl around who could be leading the line next season.

The club’s recruitment team has been monitoring various targets, with a strong emphasis on securing a proven goal scorer.

As the season enters its final stretch, key transfer decisions are expected to take shape in the coming months.

One of the names heavily linked with United is Jonathan David whose future remains uncertain.

Currently at Lille, Jonathan David has been a consistent performer in Ligue 1, attracting interest from multiple European giants.

The 25-year-old is out of contract at the end of the season and has yet to commit his future to the French club.

With 107 goals in 224 appearances for Lille, including 23 this campaign, his attacking output makes him a sought-after asset.

Clubs such as Liverpool, Newcastle, and Barcelona are also keeping a close eye on the situation.

Speaking about his future, he admitted that he is unsure where he will be playing next season.

In an interview with Golazo America, he acknowledged the uncertainty surrounding his next move, stating: “Obviously, with this summer going on, I am not sure if I am staying or going.

“But if I do end up going, I have to push myself at the very highest level.”

The striker emphasized his willingness to fight for his place wherever he lands, adding: “When you play for a big club, your position is never guaranteed and you need to fight.

“I am never guaranteed anywhere I go to start every game and play every game – I have to perform.”

His performances for club and country have only strengthened his case for a big move.

Over the weekend, he starred for Canada, scoring and assisting in a 2-1 victory over the United States.

In addition to his domestic success, he has also made his mark in European competition, scoring against elite teams such as Liverpool, Juventus, and both Madrid clubs.

With a crucial summer ahead, his next destination remains a mystery, but the battle for his signature is already heating up.
