  • Two key signings confirmed for Manchester United this summer

Manchester United are in desperate need of a rebuild this summer after a truly disastrous season in the Premier League.

United currently sit in 14th place as The Red Devils lost again on the weekend to now 15th place Wolverhampton Wanderers.

With the club failing to get results across all tournaments, with the Europa League seemingly the only exception, Ruben Amorim is in dire need of new talent at Old Trafford if he has any hopes of improvement next season.

Manchester United look to replace Andre Onana and Rasmus Hojlund

Now, Manchester Evening News has confirmed that The Red Devils are prioritising signing a new goalkeeper and a new striker.

This news isn’t overly surprising with significant reports arising of replacements being shortlisted to upgrade from Andre Onana and Rasmus Hojlund.

Onana has had an incredibly problematic season, leading the pack of Premier League goalkeepers for the most mistakes resulting in an opposition goal.

At the other end of the pitch, Hojlund has been exceptionally disappointing, failing to show consistency in front of goal, even going 21 consecutive games without hitting the back of the net.

As such, the pair are expected to be sold off in the summer to make way for new blood.

In goal, United have identified the likes of Bart Verbruggen of Brighton, Parma star Zion Suzuki and Porto shot-stopper Diogo Costa to replace Onana over the coming months.

Meanwhile, United have shortlisted Ipswich’s Liam Delap and Wolves’ Matheus Cunha as potential upgrades for Rasmus Hojlund.

It’s also been reported that Victor Osimhen has already agreed terms to move to Old Trafford in the summer, with the in-form striker highly sought after across Europe.

  • Manchester United keeping tabs on former winger

Manchester United’s summer plans could depend heavily on their final standings in both the Premier League and the Europa League.

A spot in the Champions League would significantly boost their transfer budget, especially with financial restrictions posing a concern.

Manager Ruben Amorim has reportedly submitted a list of priority positions to address, with attacking reinforcements high on the agenda.

While interest in elite-level strikers continues—most notably Victor Osimhen—United are also actively monitoring versatile wide players.

And one name on that list might come as a surprise to fans.

Manchester United are considering a reunion with one of their former academy stars, as Nottingham Forest’s Anthony Elanga emerges as a top transfer target, as per CaughtOffside.

Anthony Elanga, 22, has been sensational for Forest this season, racking up six goals and nine assists, and playing a central role in their unexpected push for a European spot.

One of those goals came against United at the start of this month as Forest trumped 1-0 winners.

His raw pace, direct attacking style and ability to operate across the front line have caught the eye of several Premier League giants, including Arsenal, Chelsea and Spurs.

But it is Manchester United’s interest that stands out, with the club reportedly tracking his progress closely and considering a formal approach.

Anthony Elanga left Old Trafford last summer in search of regular football, and his development at the City Ground has surpassed expectations.

Forest are desperate to hold on to their star man and are even looking at extending his current deal until 2030.

However, reports suggest that a bid in excess of €50 million could turn their heads, especially if financial pressures mount or if they fail to secure European football.

For United, this wouldn’t be the first time they’ve brought back a former player, having done so with Paul Pogba and most recently Jonny Evans.

Elanga’s familiarity with the club, age profile, and current form make him an attractive proposition—especially with players like Antony and Jadon Sancho facing uncertain futures.

If a deal materialises, it would represent a full-circle moment for the Swedish international, and potentially a key step in United’s rebuild under Amorim.

The summer window could mark another bold chapter in the club’s efforts to combine youth, pace, and proven Premier League experience.

  • Victor Osimhen future revealed – centredevils

Manchester United’s hunt for firepower continues as their frontline struggles to deliver when it matters most.

With just five Premier League matches left this season and Champions League qualification hanging by a thread, the Red Devils are under pressure to end the campaign strongly.

Rasmus Hojlund and Joshua Zirkzee have both faced criticism in recent weeks, with the duo failing to find consistency under Ruben Amorim.

Hojlund drew a blank in United’s recent 1-0 loss to Wolves, unable to register a single shot on target, while Zirkzee remains sidelined with a hamstring injury.

The lack of a clinical number nine has prompted United to move aggressively in the transfer market — and it appears they’ve already found their man.

According to respected Turkish journalist Aygun Ozipek, Manchester United are on the verge of sealing a deal for Napoli striker Victor Osimhen, who is currently on loan at Galatasaray.

The Nigerian has taken the Turkish league by storm this season, netting 29 goals and providing six assists in just 34 matches.

His all-round play — strength, hold-up ability, and killer instinct in front of goal — has caught the attention of Europe’s top clubs, but United have reportedly won the race.

Ozipek claims United will pay Napoli around £51 million for the 26-year-old, who is set to sign a five-year contract worth £13 million per season.

Such an investment points to a significant shake-up in United’s forward line.

It was reported that Victor Osimhen prefers a move to the Premier League and it now looks like his next move could see him move to Old Trafford.

Sources suggest that Hojlund may be the one sacrificed to accommodate Victor Osimhen, with Zirkzee’s injury casting doubt over a potential departure.

United’s hands are tied by the Premier League’s Profit and Sustainability Rules, and unless they secure Champions League football via the Europa League, budget constraints will force sales before spending.

Osimhen’s arrival would be seen as a marquee signing under the INEOS regime, and a much-needed upgrade for Amorim heading into next season.

If the deal is finalised in the coming weeks, United fans can start dreaming of a new strike partnership — or perhaps a new talisman — ready to lead the line at Old Trafford.

  • Who is Tyler Fredricson? – centredevils

Today Manchester United academy graduate Tyler Fredricson stepped out at Old Trafford, making his senior debut for The Red Devils against Wolverhampton Wanderers.

Whilst Wolves emerged with a 1-0 victory, Fredricson put in an incredible showing, justifying his spot in the starting line-up, showing off what potential he holds.

But, who is United’s newest debutant and what can we expect from him?

Born and raised in South Manchester, Fredricson joined the United’s Under-18s side from the youth academy in 2021, helping the side win the FA Youth Cup in his debut season.

This cup run saw the defender line up with now first-team stars Kobbie Mainoo and Alejandro Garnacho, however he missed the final through illness.

Unfortunately Fredricson also missed most of the second half of the season through injury, however this didn’t hinder United’s appreciation of him.

The following year, in 2022, Fredricson signed his first professional contract, joining the Under-21s side, however sustaining another injury ruling him out for a season and a half.

However last year in 2024, the centre-back bounced back, captaining the United Under-19s squad in the UEFA Youth League with the club’s only loss coming hen Fredricson wasn’t named in the squad, seeing them knocked out of the contest.

He’s also captained the Under-21s side in the Premier League 2, showing off his leadership skills and solid approach in defence, holding 5th place for the side.

Tyler Fredricson’s growing involvement in the senior squad

Whilst today’s match-up was the 20-year-old’s first match for the senior side, it’s not the first time he’s been called up to the matchday squad.

Ruben Amorim has regularly used Fredricson in senior training, also taking him to games against Tottenham Hotspur and Leicester, however he didn’t make it off the bench.

The talented youngster has also been called up to the Europa League squads, once under Erik ten Hag in 2022 and once under Amorim last month, interestingly with both fixture against Real Sociedad.

With Fredricson’s natural leadership and strength on the pitch, we can expect to see the star’s name appear more in the matchday squads, especially if United are unable to make too many recruitments over the summer.

Also with injuries seemingly plaguing the club over the last two seasons, Fredricson could easily capitalise on the extent of defensive absences to establish his name even further as he did today, especially with Victor Lindelof and Jonny Evans set to leave in the summer.

  • Crystal Palace star wanted by Manchester United

With the summer transfer window rapidly approaching, the midfield is one area in which Manchester United desperately need improvement.

Manuel Ugarte arrived last summer, but has flattered to deceive at times – although his recent form has improved.

Casemiro and Christian Eriksen present reliable options for Ruben Amorim, but they are ageing, and the latter is expected to leave Old Trafford this summer.

Kobbie Mainoo and Mason Mount do serve as younger options, but have struggled with significant injuries this season, while Toby Collyer is not yet ready for a starting berth.

It’s clear United need a refresh in midfield, and according to The Sun, one of the options United transfer chiefs are looking at is Eberechi Eze.

The Crystal Palace man has two years left on his current deal, and could be available for a fee in the region of £50m.

Aston Villa are reportedly also interested in a move for Eze and could compete with United, should they not trigger their option to buy for Marcus Rashford.

The 26-year-old joined Palace in 2020 from QPR, after a fantastic season in the Championship.

His breakthrough season would come in 2022, though, where Eze scored 10 Premier League goals and registered four assists.

His following season was affected by injuries, but he still managed to bag 11 goals as Palace enjoyed a brilliant end to the season, finishing 10th.

The midfielder is known his superb free kicks and skillful dribbling.

He could also feature on the wing for Manchester United, providing valuable competition and cover to Amad Diallo.

United should expect competition if they are to move for Eze, with both Arsenal and Manchester City linked with moves for the Palace man in recent transfer windows.

It is unlikely Palace will be eager to let go of their star man either, with a new contract offer expected.

  • Altay Bayindir squad absence explained

Manchester United have explained the absence of Turkish goalkeeper Altay Bayindir in the match squad against Wolverhampton Wanderers today.

The 27-year-old’s missing place on the bench was filled by Tom Heaton, who has recently returned from injury.

Bayindir has not featured extensively this season, but has impressed in his limited minutes on the pitch.

Most notably, he was excellent against Arsenal in the FA Cup in January, where he made numerous saves, including two penalties, as Manchester United progressed.

His most recent start came against Newcastle United, after Andre Onana had been dropped from the squad.

The goalkeeper was unable to make a positive impression, however,  as his loose pass in the second half fell to Bruno Guimaraes, who finished calmly.

Bayindir was missing today against Wolves, but Manchester United have confirmed it was due to injury issues.

In a statement before the game, United confirmed that the goalkeeper “suffered a small issue in training but has no major problem, and is left out purely as a precaution.”

United would go on to narrowly lose the match 1-0, with Pablo Sarabia’s expertly taken free kick in the second half enough to see Wolves walk away with all three points.

It is not yet clear when Bayindir will return to the Manchester United squad, with key games rapidly approaching.

A Premier League trip to Bournemouth is next on the calendar, followed by the crucial first leg of the Europa League semi-final against Athletic Bilbao.

That semi-final will be decided on the 8th May, when the Spanish club travel to England to take on United at Old Trafford.

With attentions diverted away from the remaining fixtures of the Premier League season, it is possible Bayindir may see himself given a chance to start, with Ruben Amorim likely keen to protect number one Onana.

  • Andre Onana asking price revealed

Manchester United goalkeeper Andre Onana could be on the move this summer, following a mistake-littered season for the Cameroonian.

Ruben Amorim has publicly backed his goalkeeper so far, but the head coach may be privately planning to seek an upgrade in between the sticks at Old Trafford.

Speaking following the first leg of the Europa League quarter-final against Lyon, in which Onana made two key mistakes, Amorim said: “If you look at the season I’ve made more mistakes than them during these last games and during these last months.

“There’s nothing I can say to Andre in this moment that will help him, so the most important thing is to be natural and then when the time comes I will choose the best XI to play. But I’m really confident in Andre.”

However, reports have emerged in past weeks claiming that Manchester United may be on the lookout for a new number one.

FC Porto goalkeeper Diogo Costa is just one of the names linked to a move to Old Trafford, a deal that would almost certainly see Onana leave United.

And according to The Daily Mirror, United would be willing to cut their losses with the 29-year-old this summer for a fee in excess of £20m.

Onana was signed from Inter Milan in 2023 for a fee in the region of £47m, but the goalkeeper’s time since arriving has been full of mistakes.

Since the start of last season, he has made eight mistakes leading to goals in all competitions, more than any other Premier League goalkeeper in that time.

And the two recent errors against Lyon seemed to tip many fans over the edge, in terms of their opinion on the future of the goalkeeper.

Onana does retain the faith of his manager, for now, but the summer transfer window could bring change in goal at Old Trafford.

  • Why Luke Shaw was missing against Wolves

Luke Shaw was missing from Manchester United’s squad for the visit of Wolverhampton Wanderers on Sunday, with Ruben Amorim today revealing why.

The defender has suffered extensively through injury this season, briefly reappearing at the end of November before facing a setback.

Shaw did finally make his return last week, though, coming off the bench as Manchester United fell to a 4-1 defeat at Newcastle United.

And on Thursday, the defender appeared off the bench as Amorim’s team completed a dramatic last-minute comeback to defeat Lyon and progress into the Europa League semi-final.

However, Shaw was missing today as Manchester United took on Wolves at Old Trafford.

To the relief of fans of the Red Devils, though, Amorim has explained that there is nothing to worry about.

“I can give you the example of Luke Shaw. In my mind, he was playing 30 minutes [against Lyon],” the head coach told MUTV.

“But, because of the problems we had at half-time with Victor [Lindelof] and Nous [Mazraoui] and then extra-time, he did a very good job but a lot of minutes.

“He has to feel that load to rest now and then he will train for the next game.”

United narrowly lost the match 1-0, conceding a 77th-minute free kick from Pablo Sarabia.

The result saw Wolves join them on 38 points in the Premier League, but focus towards the end of the season will be firmly locked on the Europa League.

The first leg of the semi-final will take place at Athletic Bilbao’s Estadio de San Mamés in the north of Spain.

Amorim will be keen to have Shaw fit for both legs, with Bilbao creating extensively from their wide attackers.

United’s next fixture in the Premier League will be against Bournemouth at the Vitality Stadium next Sunday.

  • Mason Greenwood targeted by Marseille fans

Former Manchester United player Mason Greenwood was targeted by fans before Marseille’s 5-1 win over Montpellier.

The winger left Old Trafford officially in 2024, joining Marseille for around £27m following a loan spell at Spanish club Getafe.

And the Englishman, who rose through United’s academy ranks, has enjoyed a productive season in France.

Greenwood has scored 18 goals in Ligue 1 as Marseille currently sit second, with the club from South France set to play Champions League football next season as it stands.

The 23-year-old has been subject to questions of his attitude recently, however, with reports claiming that both Pierre-Emile Hojbjerg and Adrien Rabiot have refused to play alongside him – although sporting director Mehdi Benatia has denied these reports.

And before Marseille’s Ligue 1 match against Montpellier on Saturday, fans unfurled a banner reading “Greenwood, Henrique, get a move on!”

Brazilian forward Luis Henrique’s character has also been called into question by reports from France.

Despite the banner, Marseille would go on to win the match 5-1, with Greenwood bagging a brace.

The winger’s form, and reported disgruntlement in the Marseille dressing room have prompted reports linking his future away from Orange Velodrome this summer.

Greenwood would likely command a sizeable fee if he is to depart, securing funds for Manchester United also given reports that a chunky sell-on clause was inserted into the deal that saw the player move to Marseille last year.

Spanish giants Barcelona and Real Madrid have been linked previously, with Atletico Madrid also rumoured to be tracking the winger’s progress in Ligue 1.

Despite his impressive form, a return to Manchester United looks to be out of the question.

  • Marcus Rashford swap deal planned by Manchester United

Marcus Rashford has hit impressive form since leaving Manchester United in January.

After discussions with Ruben Amorim, the winger moved to Aston Villa on loan, in search of game time.

And in the Premier League, Rashford has featured extensively for Unai Emery’s team, registering four goal contributions.

The Englishman also played a part in Villa’s impressive Champions League run, assisting against PSG in the quarter-final as the Villans narrowly missed out on a semi-final meeting with Arsenal.

Rashford’s Manchester United exit had been coming, with Amorim choosing to leave him out of the Premier League squad from mid-December until his exit at the end of January.

The United boss cited Rashford’s lack of commitment in training for his absence.

“What I say is I couldn’t put Marcus to see the way you’re supposed to play football and to train the way I see it,” Amorim explained following the wingers’ exit.

Villa reportedly have a £40m buy option inserted in the loan deal for Rashford, but the latest reports have suggested they could explore another way to sign the 27-year-old permanently.

According to FootballTransfers, Manchester United have held conversations with Villa over a possible swap deal involving Marcus Rashford and Ollie Watkins this summer.

Ruben Amorim’s wish to bring in a centre-forward this summer is no secret, and Watkins is the latest name added to a list including Viktor Gyokeres and Victor Osimhen.

Arsenal failed with a late move for Watkins in January, but reports suggest the Gunners have moved on in their search.

Watkins enjoyed a hugely productive season for Villa last season, and this season has been no different.

The 29-year-old has scored 15 Premier League goals so far, including a goal and an assist last night against Newcastle United.

The experienced forward could add guaranteed goals to Amorim’s front-line, should a swap deal materialise in the summer.
