  • Manchester United priority target offered to Barcelona

Manchester United have one key priority for the summer transfer window, sign a reliable striker.

The Red Devils have only had Rasmus Hojlund and Joshua Zirkzee as strike options this season and neither have been able to provide consistency in front of goal.

As such, United are one of many clubs looking to the transfer market to reinforce their attack, with some key targets being scouted by Europe’s elite.

One of United’s priority targets, Napoli’s Victor Osimhen, has now been offered to LaLiga giants Barcelona as he has no future at the Italian club.

    Barcelona’s interest in Victor Osimhen

It’s widely known that Antonio Conte doesn’t see Osimhen as part of his long-term plans, having loaned him out to Galatasaray this season.

Despite the striker’s 26 goals and five assists in 31 games, Conte has no interest in integrating Osimhen into the Napoli squad once he returns from loan.

Napoli’s president has even gone so far to say that the Nigerian striker will go to the highest bidder, despite his £63 million release clause.

It was recently revealed that Barcelona were considering a move for Osimhen, looking for Robert Lewandowski’s successor.

in line with this, Spanish outlet Sport has reported that not only were Barcelona interested, but Napoli explicitly offered Osimhen to the Spanish side

The report goes on to explain however that much like United, Barcelona would be unable to seriously compete in a bidding war that Napoli are trying to stir up due to financial pressures.

It’s understood that United are considering offering a swap-deal for Osimhen including Rasmus Hojlund, trying to capitalise on Conte’s high regard for the Danish striker to bring down Osimhen’s price tag.

However, it’s not expected that Barcelona will do the same, with the club reportedly now looking at other options.

  • Manchester United target €100m Spanish forward

Manchester United’s attack has been a major talking point this season, with inconsistency plaguing their frontline.

Rasmus Hojlund has shown promise, but he has been largely inconsistent, leaving Ruben Amorim’s side lacking firepower.

Marcus Rashford’s future remains uncertain amid speculation of a potential exit, while Antony looks to be on his way out as well.

Alejandro Garnacho has shown glimpses of promise here and there, but United know they need more attacking reinforcements to compete at the highest level.

With Champions League qualification still in the balance, the club is already looking ahead to the summer transfer window for solutions.

United have now turned their attention to Porto’s rising star Samu Aghehowa, with CaughtOffside indicating that they are closely monitoring the 20-year-old striker.

The Spaniard has been in outstanding form this season, delivering 20 goals and three assists across all competitions.

Samu Aghehowa was previously close to joining Chelsea, but instead opted for a move to Porto, where he has flourished.

United’s interest is driven by Ruben Amorim, who reportedly sees Samu Aghehowa as an ideal addition to his squad if he takes over at Old Trafford.

However, they are not the only club tracking the talented forward, with Barcelona, Bayern Munich, Tottenham, and West Ham also keeping tabs on him.

Barcelona are particularly interested, with rising star Lamine Yamal personally advocating for his international teammate to join the Catalan giants.

Bayern and Spurs are also in the market for a new striker, while West Ham are considering Aghehowa as a long-term option to bolster their attack.

Porto, however, are reluctant to sell and have placed a hefty €100m release clause on the player, making any transfer a challenging prospect.

United’s financial situation could limit their spending power, meaning player sales may be necessary before a deal for Aghehowa or any other high-profile target can be pursued.

The club has also been linked with Viktor Gyokeres, but reports suggest the Sporting Lisbon striker has turned down a move to Old Trafford.

With the summer window approaching, United’s pursuit of Aghehowa could intensify, but they may have to compete with some of Europe’s biggest clubs to secure his signature.

  • The 1958 plan new protest

Manchester United’s ownership under the Glazer family has long been a point of contention among fans.

Ever since their controversial takeover in 2005, many supporters have voiced frustrations over the financial mismanagement and lack of connection between the club and its fanbase.

The Glazers’ focus on maximising revenue has led to growing discontent, especially as supporters feel their club has become more of a business venture than a community institution.

This feeling of disconnect has been amplified by ticket price increases, which many fans believe are pricing out long-term season ticket holders.

The 1958, a prominent Manchester United fan group, has taken a stand against the Glazers’ ownership for years.

Their protests have ranged from organizing marches to coordinating sit-ins at Old Trafford.

The group’s name references the year of the Munich Air Disaster, an event that resonates deeply with United supporters and symbolizes their commitment to the club’s history.

One of the most impactful forms of protest has been their sit-in demonstrations, where fans stay in their seats after the match to send a message to the Glazers.

The 1958’s efforts have gained considerable attention, and their upcoming protest promises to do the same.

A sit-in is scheduled for this weekend’s Manchester derby against City at Old Trafford, where fans will stay in their seats following the game.

This protest follows a similar demonstration after United’s 2-1 comeback win against Nottingham Forest in August 2023, where thousands of fans stayed behind to voice their displeasure with the Glazers.

Steve Crompton, a spokesperson for The 1958, explained that sit-in protests are one of the most effective ways to make a statement.

“I think probably one of the most impactful [protests] we did was the sit-in, and we will be running another one of those against City next weekend,” Crompton said.

Chris Haymes, another member of the 1958, added that the protest aims to address the rising ticket prices, which are expected to drive away long-time fans, particularly older supporters and those on concessions.

The group has also voiced concerns over United’s recent actions, such as the controversial decision to remove seating around the dugout area and the sale of over 1,000 tickets to Rangers fans in the United section during a Europa League match.

These moves, along with the perceived decline in the club’s fan culture, have prompted fans to take action once again.

With millions of eyes expected to be on the Manchester derby, The 1958 sees this as an ideal moment to amplify their protest.

The eyes of the football world will be on Old Trafford, and the group hopes this demonstration will push the Glazers to reconsider their approach to the club.

Fans have been clear that their protests are not based on United’s performance or league standing, but on what they see as years of mismanagement.

The sit-in protest is expected to be one of the most significant demonstrations in the ongoing fight against the Glazers’ ownership.

As tensions continue to rise, it remains to be seen whether the group’s efforts will result in tangible changes for Manchester United’s future.

  • Sir Alex Ferguson hoping for Grand National win

This weekend sees the Grand National take place once again, with Manchester United legend Sir Alex Ferguson set to be in attendance.

The former United manager is well known to be a huge horse racing fan, owning as many as 32 horses himself, even spending £660,000 on unbeaten Regent’s Stroll, setting a new world record for a National Hunt horse.

Whilst none of his horses ran in the Grand National last year, the 83-year-old Scotsman is hoping that one of his horses will be selected for this year’s outing.

TalkSPORT has reported that Sir Alex Ferguson is a part-owner of Hitman who is on the provisional list to take part in the biggest horserace in the UK, held at Aintree Racecourse in Liverpool.

Hitman has been trained by Paul Nicholls and is set to be ridden by Freddie Gingell as they race for part of the £1 million prize pot.

However, this isn’t his only horse in action on race day.

One of Ferguson’s horses, Monmiral, who he shares with John Hales, is set to take part in the William Hill Top Price Guarantee Handicap Hurdle which takes place at 1:20pm on Saturday, April 5.

In a boost for the owner, jockey Harry Cobden has described Monmiral as the ‘best juvenile’ he’s sat on, which is high praise.

Then Ferguson’s other competing horse is set to run immediately after the Grand National in the Rosconn Group Maghull Novices’ Chase at 5pm.

The horse in question is L’Eau Du Sud, trained by Dan Skelton and will be ridden by Harry Skelton.

In this seven-horse race, L’Eau Du Sud is the favourite, expected to take £67,524 of the £111,684 prize pot.

  • Nine players to miss Manchester United clash with Nottingham Forest

Manchester United return from the international break tonight, taking on Nottingham Forest at The City Ground in the next fixture in the Premier League.

United currently sit in 13th place, with The Tricky Trees sat in third, trying to hold on for Champions League football next year.

However, The Red Devils have a hard fight ahead as the reverse fixture ended with a 3-2 win for Forest back in December, despite goals from Rasmus Hojlund and Bruno Fernandes.

Now, the fixture could be made increasingly harder with three of the men Amorim fielded for their home leg now out injured, with another three unable to replace them.

    Manchester United’s missing men

Unfortunately for Amorim, Lisandro Martinez, Amad Diallo and Kobbie Mainoo are unavailable for the game, with Martinez and Diallo suffering a ligament tear and damage respectively.

Whilst Martinez is out for the rest of the season, Diallo is hopeful to return before United’s last game of the campaign, with Mainoo already close to being back in the squad.

However, The Athletic has confirmed that alongside them are defenders Ayden Heaven, Jonny Evans and Luke Shaw.

The trio are reportedly recovering, with Heaven’s injury described as “not so serious” after being stretchered off against Leicester City and Evans recovering from a back issue.

As for Shaw, the left-back has missed most of the last two seasons through various injuries, having only made three appearances so far this campaign.

Alongside the six set to miss that match is young striker Chido Obi, however he won’t be missing through injury, rather through other fixtures, having played in the Under-18s FA Youth Cup semi-final last night.

The United youth squad were unfortunately knocked out in penalties by Aston Villa after the clubs were locked at 1-1 at the end of extra-time.

However it’s not all bad for Amorim, as Forest also have two key injuries, including two of the three goalscorers from Forest’s win at Old Trafford.

Nottingham Forest could be without two key stars

Nottingham Forest manager Nuno Espirito Santo is set to be without striker Chris Wood and attacking midfielder Morgan Gibbs-White.

Wood returned from international duty with New Zealand having suffered a contusion in his hip in their World Cup 2026 qualifier against New Caledonia and as a result missed Forest’s FA Cup quarter-final with Brighton this weekend.

As for Gibbs-White, the 25-year-old played in Forest’s FA Cup win over Brighton, however picked up a knock after colliding with the post and us such is in question for tonight.

  • Rayan Cherki wanted by Manchester United

Manchester United’s winger situation has become a cause for concern as injuries and potential departures loom large.

Amad Diallo, who has been sidelined with injury, has left United’s attacking options thinner.

Marcus Rashford and Antony are both facing uncertain futures, with speculation mounting that they could be on their way out at the end of the season.

This could leave United in need of a major revamp to their wide options, and the club has been looking at potential replacements for their attacking spots.

With key decisions to make, the Red Devils are reportedly looking at Olympique Lyon’s Rayan Cherki as a potential signing to bolster their squad, as per Graeme Bailey.

Rayan Cherki, 21, has long been considered one of Europe’s most promising talents, and his form this season has reignited interest from top clubs across Europe.

While his commitment was once questioned, the young Frenchman has turned his career around, impressing with his performances for Lyon.

This season alone, Rayan Cherki has contributed eight goals and 17 assists in 26 starts, catching the eyes of multiple Premier League clubs, including Manchester United.

His standout performance during France U21’s thrilling 5-3 victory over England during the international break further elevated his stock, as he scored a goal and assisted two others.

Not only has Cherki been dazzling in Ligue 1, but he’s also shown his talents in the Europa League, where he has delivered eight assists and two goals in 10 outings.

Given his versatility in playing as a number 10 or on the right wing, he could be an ideal fit for United’s setup under Ruben Amorim.

Manchester United are not the only club in the hunt for Cherki, however.

Arsenal, Liverpool, Tottenham Hotspur, Aston Villa, and Newcastle United have all expressed interest, and Bayern Munich and PSG have also reignited their pursuit of the French talent.

With Lyon’s £25 million asking price, Cherki could be an affordable yet highly effective signing for United, especially given their current need to rebuild their attacking options.

As United prepares to face Lyon in the upcoming Europa League fixtures, they will surely be keeping a close eye on Cherki’s performance, as it could help solidify their decision.

Should the winger impress, Manchester United may be ready to make their move.

  • Atletico Madrid to pay £40m for Manchester United attacker

Atletico Madrid’s wingers have been pivotal in the team’s dynamic play this season.

Samuel Lino has established himself as a key left-winger, delivering standout performances with three goals and an assist in recent matches.

His agility and flair have been instrumental in Atletico’s attacking strategies.

On the right, Giuliano Simeone has emerged as a significant contributor, scoring crucial goals, including a decisive strike against Las Palmas and a vital equalizer in a Champions League match against RB Salzburg.

Both players have been integral to Atletico’s pursuit of La Liga leadership, showcasing the team’s depth and versatility on the wing this season.

It is reported that Atletico Madrid are looking to add another winger to their squad this summer.

Reports from The i Paper indicate that Atletico Madrid and several Italian clubs are monitoring his progress, potentially setting the stage for a competitive transfer battle in the upcoming summer window.

With their current wingers performing well, the addition of a player like Antony could add depth and versatility to their frontline.

Antony’s journey at Manchester United has been a rollercoaster since his high-profile transfer from Ajax in August 2022.

The Brazilian winger arrived with significant expectations, carrying an £81.3 million price tag, making him the club’s second most expensive signing after Paul Pogba.

Initially, Antony showcased glimpses of his potential, netting three goals in his first three Premier League appearances.

However, his form soon waned, leading to limited opportunities and a struggle to justify his hefty transfer fee.

By the 2024/2025 season, Antony had not started a single Premier League match, prompting Manchester United to seek a solution for the talented yet underperforming player.

In January 2025, a loan move to Real Betis materialized, offering Antony a fresh start in La Liga.

Since his arrival, the 24-year-old has experienced a remarkable turnaround, scoring four goals and providing four assists in just 12 appearances.

His dynamic performances have been instrumental in propelling Betis to sixth place in the league, keeping their European football aspirations alive.

CLICK HERE TO JOIN THE CENTRE DEVILS WHATSAPP GROUP CHAT NOW!

Antony’s impact was particularly evident during the recent 2-1 victory over city rivals Sevilla, where he played a pivotal role and celebrated passionately by waving a large Betis flag, endearing himself to the fans.

Teammates and club officials have taken notice of Antony’s contributions.

Midfielder Isco humorously suggested that a crowdfunding campaign might be necessary to secure Antony’s services beyond the current season, highlighting both the player’s value and the financial challenges Betis faces.

Despite the desire to retain him, Betis may struggle to meet Manchester United’s £40 million valuation, especially considering Antony’s substantial wages.

Manchester United, under the co-ownership of Ineos, is reportedly planning a squad overhaul, with Antony and other loanees like Marcus Rashford potentially generating significant funds to facilitate new acquisitions.

While Antony’s camp has not ruled out a return to Old Trafford, sources suggest that such a scenario is unlikely.

The player’s preference appears to be continuing his career in a league where he has rediscovered his form and confidence.

As the summer transfer window approaches, Antony’s future remains uncertain, but his revitalized performances at Real Betis have undoubtedly reignited interest in the Brazilian winger, positioning him as a sought-after asset in European football.

Now, nine months on, the 24-year-old has had a massive fall from grace as he faces two years in prison for dangerous driving.

The former Manchester United academy star was involved in a serious car crash in August 2023 on the A34 in Cheshire when he crashed his car whilst driving at 99mph.

Adding to the reckless speed at which he was driving, Williams was filmed only moments before “with a balloon in his mouth”.

The youngster’s hearing took place at Chester Crown Court on 14th March, with Williams pleading guilty to dangerous driving.

Next for the former left-back is his sentencing which will take place on 9th May 2025, however his history with driving convictions may also weigh against him.

In the event in may, Williams failed to declare who was driving the vehicle twice, earning him 12 points and a £1,000 fine.

Now, his mother, Lisa Woods has spoken briefly about his hopes for her son’s future.

The Daily Mail has reported that whilst working at the Snack Attack cafe on Harpurhry market, Ms Woods has explained that she hopes her son can find a way back into football after seeing out his punishment.

  • Sir Jim Ratcliffe reaches settlement over sponsorship dispute

Back in February, news broke that Sir Jim Ratcliffe and his company, INEOS, were being sued by international side New Zealand Rugby for breaching their contract.

The company was working with the All Blacks as their performance partners in a six-year deal set to run until 2027.

However, INEOS pulled out of the deal early, failing to pay their first instalment of the sponsorship deal for 2025.

As such New Zealand Rugby started legal action against Ratcliffe’s company for the preach of the £22 million sponsorship agreement.

In response to the situation, INEOS issued their own statement, explaining their withdrawal from the partnership as: “trading conditions for our European businesses have been severely impacted by high energy costs and extreme carbon taxes,” and “the deindustrialisation of Europe.”

In light of these reasons, the company have had to implement cost-cutting measures across the business, with Ratcliffe’s organisation also parting ways with Britannia America’s Cup sailing team after a seven-year partnership.

Now it appears the two parties have come to an agreement, with the pair issuing the same statements, reading:

“New Zealand Rugby and INEOS can confirm that a settlement has been reached between the two parties.”

“Whilst the details remain confidential, both organisations are satisfied with the outcome and acknowledge a desire to now move forward.”

  • Manchester United knocked out of FA Youth Cup

Manchester United’s Under-18s side have unfortunately been knocked out of the FA Youth Cup despite an impressive run thus far.

The Academy side are currently leading the pack in the Under-18s Premier League having only lost one game all season.

In the FA Youth Cup, The Red Devils scored five goals in each of the first three rounds, beating Coventry 5-0, Preston 5-2 and Chelsea 5-1.

However, their quarter-final against Arsenal went to extra-time before Bendito Mantato grabbed a winner in the 99th minute.

Now, in the semi-final, United travelled to Villa Park to face Aston Villa, with Adam Lawrence’s side narrowly missing a spot in the final.

Things didn’t start well as Villa got the scoring underway in the first five minutes with a direct freekick colliding with the wall, with Trai-Varn Mulley jumping on the rebound to nestle it under the goalkeeper.

However, it only took United 17 minutes to draw level with James Scanlon capitalising on a stray ball in the box, hurtling in and hammering it home.

Just before half-time, United conceded a penalty as goalkeeper Will Murdock caught the ankle of Jamaldeen Jimoh-Aloba, taking him down in the box.

Thankfully for Murdock, Villa captain Calum Moreland fired the penalty well wide, with the teams remaining equal going into half-time.

Unfortunately United couldn’t break the deadlock in the second half, despite dominating the game, seeing the game go to extra-time and then to penalties.

Ultimately The Villains were victorious in the dreaded shootout, with United now knocked out of the tournament, with head of recruitment Christopher Vivell and United royalty Sir Alex Ferguson both in attendance.
