  • Arsenal given permission to talk to Viktor Gyokeres

Manchester United might be even closer to missing out on key summer target Viktor Gyokeres as Arsenal step up their attack for the striker.

Earlier today it was reported that conversations had begun between Sporting CP and Arsenal about a move for Portuguese side’s star striker.

Rising Stars XI on X has reported that Arsenal have now been granted permission by Sporting CP to begin discussing personal terms with the Swedish striker.

Gyokeres is one of the world’s most in-form strikers right now, with 42 goals and 11 assists in 42 games for Sporting this season, plus nine goals and four assists in six games for Sweden.

As such, Europe’s elite have been monitoring the star aiming to sign him in the summer, with United hoping to use their links with Ruben Amorim to lure Viktor Gyokeres to Old Trafford.

However, Arsenal are also looking to use their links with Gyokeres’ agent Hasan Cetinkaya being long-term friends with Mikel Arteta.

Whilst this is a massive move to suggest a transfer to The Gunners, the report explains that Arsenal are “merely laying extensive groundwork” to shortlist and scope out strong attacking candidates ready for their new sporting director when appointed.

  • Full details revealed of Manchester United youngster who almost joined Barcelona

Manchester United have placed a greater emphasis on recruiting young talents since INEOS took control of football operations in 2024.

After years of criticism over poor recruitment, co-owner Sir Jim Ratcliffe has already reshaped the club’s approach to player signings.

Gone are the days of spending huge transfer fees on players past their prime and handing out enormous contracts.

Ratcliffe was never convinced by the signing of Casemiro, as United paid a hefty fee for a player who was already beyond his peak.

While Casemiro played a key role in his first season, it was evident he wasn’t the same force that won multiple Champions League titles with Real Madrid.

Now, INEOS chiefs are prioritising youth signings in a bid to build a sustainable future for Manchester United.

In the past year alone, United have recruited several young stars, including Ayden Heaven, Chido Obi, and Leny Yoro.

Barcelona wanted Man Utd starlet Sekou Kone

One of the most exciting youngsters to arrive at Old Trafford in the last year is Sekou Kone.

The 19-year-old midfielder completed a £1 million transfer from Malian club Guidars FC on deadline day last summer.

United initially scouted Kone at the Under-17 World Cup in Indonesia in 2023, before moving to secure his signature.

Since arriving, he has represented both United’s U19s and U21s, while also being on the verge of making his first-team debut.

Amorim has named Kone in three matchday squads this season, including for Premier League clashes against Tottenham, Everton, and Nottingham Forest.

According to Spanish outlet Sport (via Sport Witness), Barcelona had serious interest in signing Kone before he ended up at United.

The report states that Barcelona sporting director Deco is now focusing on internal development due to the club’s financial struggles.

Regarding their failed pursuit, the newspaper adds: “The problem is that some of the targets required small financial compensation and have already escaped months ago.”

Barcelona’s inability to strike a deal allowed United to complete the transfer on August 30, 2024.

Due to delays in the transfer process, Kone missed pre-season and had to wait until November to make his first start for United’s academy.

Unfortunately, he suffered an injury just 40 minutes into his debut for the U21s against Huddersfield, ruling him out for weeks.

Now back to full fitness, Kone is on the fringes of the first team but continues to earn valuable minutes with the U21s.

Last weekend, he scored a stunning left-footed volley against Leeds, showcasing his immense talent.

He also won the penalty for Sam Mather’s equaliser as the game ended 2-2.

  • Amir Ibragimov officially signs for Manchester United

Manchester United’s commitment to youth development has been a defining trait of the club for decades.

That remains the case under the new INEOS-led project.

Whether it’s recruiting young stars from abroad or bringing talent through the academy, United are determined to build for the future.

That vision has been reinforced with the news that Amir Ibragimov has signed his first professional contract with the club.

The highly rated attacking talent has been tipped for a big future, with many at United viewing him as a potential star in the years to come.

Ibragimov netted a hattrick against Liverpool for the U17’s back in September.

Although born in Dagestan, Russia, Ibragimov represents England at international youth level.

Capable of playing in multiple attacking positions, the 17-year-old made two appearances for United’s Under-18s in the 2023/24 season.

His versatility, creativity, and technical ability levels have stood out in United’s youth setup.

His potential has now earned him a deal to continue his development at Carrington.

Amir Ibragimov confirms contract on Instagram

Shortly after signing his contract, Ibragimov took to Instagram to confirm the news, marking another significant step in his young career.

His progression through the ranks highlights United’s continued investment in young players.

There seems to be a much more clear pathway from the academy to the first team.

This is a particularly exciting time for young players at United.

With the club’s current first-team struggles, comes more opportunities for academy graduates.

Both Chido Obi and Ayden Heaven have already caught the eye, demonstrating how the club is willing to trust its youth prospects.

With Ibragimov now committed to the club, the pathway to first-team football looks brighter than ever for United’s next generation.

  • Victor Osimhen next transfer destination revealed

Manchester United’s need for a true No.9 has never been more obvious.

The team currently languish in the bottom half of the Premier League,  struggling for goals.

Rasmus Hojlund, the club’s £72 million signing, has endured a challenging season.

The forward is now effectively ‘on trial’ as United assess whether he can be their long-term solution up front.

Meanwhile, Joshua Zirkzee has shown flashes of quality.

However, the Dutchman appears to be more suited to playing as a shadow striker rather than an out-and-out centre-forward.

One name that has been consistently linked to United is Victor Osimhen, with the on-loan at Galatasaray striker long admired by the club’s hierarchy.

Osimhen was seen as an ideal fit to lead United’s attack, despite rejecting the Red Devils last year.

However his time at Napoli is already over, with Antonio Conte not keen on keeping him at the club.

David Ornstein provides update on Victor Osimhen future

According to David Ornstein on The Athletic’s Q/A, the most likely destination for Osimhen is Saudi Arabia.

Premier League clubs are believing that’s where he will end up, as per Ornstein.

Osimhen’s physical profile and finishing ability make him tailor-made for English football, which is why he has regularly been linked to United and Chelsea.

However, with Saudi Pro League interest growing, it now appears unlikely that United will be able to secure his signature.

As a result, the club will have to turn their attention elsewhere, with Viktor Gyokeres emerging as a priority target.

The Sweden international has been in exceptional form at Sporting CP and has the added advantage of already working under Ruben Amorim.

You can certainly expect the links with Gyokeres to liven up even more.

Alternatively, Liam Delap has been a name mentioned – should the Red Devils fail in their pursuit of Gyokeres.

  • Manchester United to opt AGAINST re-signing midfield star

This summer is set to be the most important in years for Manchester United, with the club’s long-term status hanging in the balance.

Since arriving at Old Trafford, Ruben Amorim has yet to deliver instant success, though recent performances suggest the squad is beginning to adapt to his system.

The Portuguese coach has admitted his satisfaction with United’s displays.

Especially in their dominant performance against Nottingham Forest, where they excelled in every key metric except finishing chances.

With the current squad lacking efficiency in both boxes, United are expected to oversee a major clearout this summer.

However, financial constraints could force INEOS to explore cheaper alternatives.

Potential free transfers may be considered rather than big-money moves.

Manchester United to pass on Angel Gomes reunion

One such free-agent target who has been linked with a return to Old Trafford is Angel Gomes, alongside interest from multiple Premier League clubs.

However, Graeme Bailey via United in Focus, has revealed that the club have no current plans to re-sign their former academy graduate.

Despite his Lille contract expiring this summer, United sources have played down the speculation of a move.

A major reason for this decision is that Gomes’ playing style has evolved into a holding midfielder role, rather than the attacking playmaker United once developed.

Manuel Ugarte is expected to be the stalwart choice as the ‘sitting six’, posing uncertainty as to where Gomes would fit.

Earlier this season, Gomes received his first England call-up, impressing with his performances and subsequently fueling speculation over a return.

Back in October, the midfielder admitted he would struggle to reject United if an opportunity to return in 2025 arose.

However, while Gomes has been compared to Rodri for his ball retention and build-up play, United are set to avoid a reunion.

His lack of physicality has been an issue highlighted over the years.

While technically superb, questions would still arise, as to his suitability within Amorim’s system.

  • Manchester United to block two major Real Madrid signings

Manchester United are looking to block two major signings for Real Madrid this summer as both clubs look to strengthen their defence.

United are set to lose centre-back pair Victor Lindelof and Jonny Evans in the summer at the end of their contracts, significantly limiting their squad depth despite recent signings.

Last summer the club lost Raphael Varane, however gained Matthijs de Ligt and Leny Yoro to the role with Ayden Heaven also joining Old Trafford in the winter.

However, Ruben Amorim deploys a back three instead of a pair of centre-backs with Erik ten Hag utilised before him.

Amorim has already adapted Noussair Mazraoui to one of his back three, with Luke Shaw also looking to be on the left side of the trio upon his return.

However, the former first-choice left-back is ultimately unreliable due to his consistent injuries.

As such, The Red Devils are looking to Europe to sign more talent to the centre of defence, especially in the case of Lisandro Martinez’s recovery from tearing his ACL taking longer than expected.

Now, Spanish giants are also in the market for centre-backs looking for long-term replacements for Antonio Rudiger and David Alaba, with the pair being 32 years old and out of contract in summer 2026.

Spanish outlet Sport has now reported that the two top European sides are looking to the same targets this summer.

Real Madrid and Manchester United target talented centre-backs

    Piero Hincapie Dean Huijsen

The pair of clubs are reportedly looking to Bournemouth’s Dean Huijsen and Bayer Leverkusen’s Piero Martín Hincapié to reinforce their defence after the duo have had impressive seasons for their respective teams.

However, the two defenders both have release clauses of £42 million (€50 million) meaning a potential £84 million (€100 million) spend on the pair.

Whilst this may be out of the realms of possibility for United to sign both, the two clubs aren’t the only ones pursuing the duo.

Premier League leaders Liverpool and London-based side Tottenham Hotspur are also monitoring the pair looking to swoop in and sign one or both.

With the extent of interest from top clubs, as well as Bournemouth and Leverkusen wanting to retain their key players, it’s unknown where Huijsen or Hincapie will be starting next season.

  • Manchester United legend mural backed by surprise fan

Manchester United’s rich history is filled with legends who have left an indelible mark on the club.

The club’s golden era was defined by players who not only won trophies but embodied the spirit of Old Trafford.

Few midfielders in football history have been as revered as those who played under Sir Alex Ferguson, contributing to countless Premier League triumphs.

Even in retirement, some of United’s most iconic players remain influential, offering insight and analysis on the modern game.

While many former stars seek the limelight, others have let their football do the talking, earning admiration for their humility and class.

PAUL SCHOLES MURAL UNVEILED IN HOMETOWN

A mural has been unveiled in Middleton to celebrate Paul Scholes, one of Manchester United’s greatest-ever midfielders.

Paul Scholes, who spent his entire professional career at United, made his debut in 1994 against Port Vale, scoring twice in a League Cup victory.

He went on to make 718 appearances and scored 155 goals for the club, playing a crucial role in Ferguson’s dominant reign.

The midfielder won 11 Premier League titles, three FA Cups, and two Champions League trophies, cementing his legacy as one of the finest midfielders of his generation.

Following his retirement in 2013, Scholes has remained involved in football as a pundit for TNT Sports and a co-owner of Salford City.

Despite his reserved nature, he has become a regular voice on The Overlap podcast, discussing the state of the modern game.

The tribute to Paul Scholes was created by renowned street artist Akse P19, who previously designed the Marcus Rashford mural in Withington.

The artwork, standing 15 feet tall, was the result of a public vote, where Scholes emerged as the overwhelming choice to be honoured.

Remarkably, even Manchester City fans participated in the vote, showing their respect for the United legend.

Speaking about the tribute on The Overlap’s Fan Debate, Scholes admitted he was unaware of the project until he saw an image online.

He revealed that he beat Steve Coogan and Olympic swimmer Keri-Anne Payne in the vote, saying, “I wasn’t expecting that… It’s on the side of a chippy in Middleton, where I’m from.”

The mural ensures that Scholes’ impact on football will be remembered not only at Old Trafford but in his hometown, where he first fell in love with the game.

  • Big Kobbie Mainoo contract update provided

Manchester United’s recent performances have highlighted the team’s pressing need to bolster their midfield options.

With inconsistent displays in the centre of the park, the Red Devils have struggled to dominate possession and dictate the tempo of games.

This has led to increased scrutiny on the current squad and a renewed focus on securing the futures of key players.

As the summer transfer window approaches, the club is keen to address these issues to re-establish themselves as serious contenders both domestically and in Europe.

The upcoming fixtures will be crucial in determining the trajectory of their season and the areas that require reinforcement.

Amidst this backdrop, 19-year-old midfielder Kobbie Mainoo has emerged as a beacon of hope for Manchester United.

Despite attracting interest from European giants such as Real Madrid and Inter Milan, Mainoo remains committed to the Red Devils and is open to signing a new contract to extend his stay at Old Trafford.

Sources indicate that while these top clubs could offer Champions League football next season, Mainoo’s priority is to continue his development with Manchester United, provided terms can be agreed upon, as per Give Me Sport.

CLICK HERE TO JOIN THE CENTRE DEVILS WHATSAPP GROUP CHAT NOW!

The club is reportedly preparing to table a new contract offer, with salary expectations being a key discussion point.

Reports have previously suggested a potential 80% pay rise to £180,000-a-week, but this figure is seen as unrealistic as the club aims to restructure its wage bill.

Instead, an offer well in excess of £100,000-a-week, closely aligned with the deal recently handed to Amad Diallo, is expected.

This proposed salary reflects Mainoo’s rapid rise and growing importance to the team.

Manchester United are not currently considering cashing in on Kobbie Mainoo, who is valued at £70 million.

The situation would only be expected to change if negotiations were to completely collapse.

However, there is no indication that talks are heading in that direction, with both parties seemingly willing to find a resolution.

The youngster’s development has been one of the few bright spots during challenging times at Old Trafford in recent years.

His composure and intelligence on the ball have marked him out as one of England’s most exciting up-and-coming talents.

While the lure of Champions League football is undoubtedly attractive, there is a strong sense that Kobbie Mainoo values his homegrown status at Manchester United and the opportunity to establish himself as a key figure in their midfield for years to come.

The Red Devils are pushing forward with talks, eager to avoid a drawn-out saga.

For now, Mainoo’s focus will be on getting back to action, but his future will remain a talking point until an agreement is reached over his next deal.

  • Scott McTominay reflects on time at Manchester United

Scott McTominay’s departure from Manchester United last summer marked the end of a turbulent chapter for the Scottish midfielder.

Despite showing glimpses of his talent, particularly during his time under Ole Gunnar Solskjaer, McTominay’s role at United was often a point of contention.

As the team continues to struggle with consistency in midfield, McTominay’s shift to Napoli has provided him with the opportunity to shine, with his performances in Serie A a testament to his growth as a player.

In recent months, Manchester United’s midfield has come under scrutiny for its lack of creativity and defensive stability.

While Bruno Fernandes and Casemiro have been mainstays, the partnership between Fred and McTominay was often criticized for lacking the finesse required to dominate top-tier opponents.

The ongoing midfield issues forced then manager, Erik ten Hag to experiment with different combinations, with many United fans questioning the decision to let McTominay go.

Reflecting on his time at Old Trafford, McTominay admitted he was “misprofiled” when he broke into the first team.

“When I got into the first team, I was quite mis profiled in where I was playing,” he told The Athletic.

“It wasn’t the fault of any coaches.

“My strengths have always been getting into the box, scoring goals, being a problem in there.

“But I was being used as a No 6, or as a centre-back, and that has never really been my game.”

Despite being played out of position, Scott McTominay understood the realities of being a young player at a club like United.

CLICK HERE TO JOIN THE CENTRE DEVILS WHATSAPP GROUP CHAT NOW!

“When you’re playing for Manchester United and you’re 20, you can’t knock on the manager’s door and say that you expect to be playing at No 8 ahead of Paul Pogba,” he explained.

    “It’s not realistic.

“You have to know your place, and do what you’re asked to do.”

McTominay’s versatility saw him used in various roles throughout his time at United, often at the expense of his attacking instincts.

However, as time went on, he began to make more of an impact in the final third.

“In the last few seasons, I began to get into the box a bit more, to score more goals, and then last year was my best one,” he recalled.

His move to Napoli, where he has flourished under Antonio Conte, has been a resounding success.

“Things were difficult in Manchester,” McTominay admitted.

“I didn’t know what was happening exactly.

“And you instantly know Napoli, the passion of the fans, the quality of the league.”

McTominay’s rise in Serie A has highlighted the potential he always had, and his experience at Manchester United has undoubtedly shaped him into a more complete player.

While the midfielder’s departure from Old Trafford remains a topic of debate, his success in Italy has proven that he was more than just a cog in the United machine.

With Napoli challenging for the Scudetto, Scott McTominay is finally getting the chance to display the full range of his abilities on a bigger stage.

United, on the other hand, will need to find the right balance in midfield if they are to contend for major honors once again.

  • Manchester United “hot” for Eintracht Frankfurt superstar

Manchester United’s ongoing struggle to find consistent goal scorers has been a cause for concern this season.

Despite the arrival of Rasmus Hojlund and Joshua Zirkzee, the team has faced challenges in converting opportunities into goals.

Recent performances have highlighted the need for a more clinical presence in the attacking third.

With Rasmus Hojlund only finding the back of the net on 3 occasions in the league this season and Joshua Zirkzee not seen as a tradition number nine, United will be looking to the market for an out and out goal scorer.

With Champions League qualification hanging in the balance, it’s evident that strengthening the forward line is imperative for United’s aspirations.

In response to this pressing need, Manchester United have reportedly intensified their interest in Eintracht Frankfurt’s 22-year-old striker, Hugo Ekitike.

The French forward has been in scintillating form this season, netting 19 goals and providing eight assists in 39 appearances across all competitions.

This impressive tally has not gone unnoticed, with several top clubs, including Arsenal, Liverpool, Chelsea, and Newcastle United, also expressing keen interest.

    Ekitike’s journey has been remarkable.

After a stint at Paris Saint-Germain, he moved to Eintracht Frankfurt, initially on loan, before making the transfer permanent.

His adaptability and growth have been evident, especially after adjusting his playing style to focus more on direct goal-scoring opportunities.

Bild are reporting that Manchester United, Arsenal and Liverpool are all ‘hot’ for Hugo Ekitike.

He will cost €80m+ this summer as PSG have a 20% sell-on clause.

While this figure is substantial, United’s reported interest indicates a willingness to invest in a striker who could address their attacking shortcomings.

However, with multiple Premier League rivals in the mix, United will need to act decisively to secure his signature.

The competition for Ekitike’s signature underscores the broader challenges United face in the transfer market.

With several clubs vying for top attacking talents, United’s strategy will need to be both swift and strategic.

Securing Hugo Ekitike could be a pivotal move in restoring United’s attacking prowess and achieving their season objectives.
