  • Rayan Cherki fires shots at Manchester United

Manchester United’s Europa League campaign is still hanging in the balance after a dramatic 2-2 draw away to Lyon on Thursday night.

Ruben Amorim’s men looked set to take a huge step towards the semi-finals after scoring late, only for a stoppage-time equaliser to keep the tie wide open ahead of the second leg at Old Trafford.

The match saw another high-profile mistake from goalkeeper Andre Onana, whose position is already under scrutiny following recent criticism.

With speculation building over potential changes this summer, Amorim’s tactical decisions in big games are being closely analysed.

Despite fielding a strong side, United found themselves under pressure for large spells of the first leg and may now need to adopt a more aggressive approach in front of their own fans next week.

The fallout from Thursday’s clash has seen Lyon’s Rayan Cherki launch a pointed attack at United’s tactics, suggesting Amorim’s side came to France with the sole intention of defending.

Rayan Cherki, who scored the late equaliser following an Onana fumble, didn’t hold back post-match, saying United were “afraid” and showed Lyon too much respect.

    “We played a full game.

“We were much better than that team,” he told reporters.

“We know Manchester are a good team.

“We were never afraid of them.

“We will never be afraid of them.”

Cherki also took aim at United’s formation: “When you come with two defensive midfielders, there’s no need to say more.”

His words echo the criticism of Onana earlier in the week, after the keeper claimed United were a better team than Lyon – a comment that prompted a fiery response from Nemanja Matic, who called him one of the worst in United’s history.

Speaking to Canal+, Cherki doubled down on his view: “When you see that they come with two defensive midfielders, it’s because they’re particularly afraid of us.”

Lyon now believe they can go to Old Trafford and take the game to United, with Cherki vowing they will attack from the first whistle.

United, meanwhile, must bounce back from another defensive wobble if they hope to salvage their European season next Thursday.

  • Manchester City trial brother of ex-Manchester United wonderkid

Isak Hansen-Aaroen, once heralded as one of Manchester United’s brightest academy prospects while at the club, continues to make waves in European football.

After leaving Tromso at just 16 to join United, Isak developed his craft at Old Trafford before moving to Werder Bremen in early 2024.

Currently on loan at Danish side Aalborg BK, the 20-year-old attacking midfielder is gaining valuable first-team experience, aiming to solidify his place in top-tier European football.

While Isak’s journey has been closely followed by football enthusiasts, attention is now shifting to his younger brother, Sigve Hansen-Aaroen.

The 14-year-old talent, currently playing for Tromso’s youth setup, is already attracting interest from major European clubs.

Last year, Sigve Hansen-Aaroen spent time on trial with Danish club FC Nordsjaelland, showcasing his skills and potential.

Sigve Hansen-Aaroen on trial at Manchester United

In a significant development, Sigve has recently been on trial with Manchester City, one of the Premier League’s top clubs, as per the Academy Arena on X.

This opportunity indicates the high regard in which he’s held and the potential trajectory of his burgeoning career.

While specific details about the trial remain under wraps, the very fact that City is evaluating him speaks volumes about his talent and promise.

It’s important to note that, due to FIFA regulations, Sigve cannot make an international move until he turns 16 in February 2026. This means that any potential transfer would be a long-term investment for interested clubs, focusing on his development and integration into their youth systems.

The Hansen-Aaroen family’s footballing pedigree is becoming increasingly evident.

With Isak carving out a professional career across Europe and Sigve drawing attention from elite clubs at such a young age, it’s clear that talent runs deep in the family.

As Sigve continues to develop, the football world will be watching closely to see if he can follow in—or even surpass—his brother’s footsteps.

  • Manchester United investigate tearful treatment of fans in Lyon

Last night was yet another disappointing evening for Manchester United fans as Ruben Amorim’s men left the Europa League quarter-finals first leg with a 2-2 draw.

United managed to score two impressive headed goals, courtesy of Leny Yoro and Joshua Zirkzee, however, the other end of the pitch was a different story.

Andre Onana was at fault for both goals, not able to live up to his comments prior to the game claiming United are significantly better than the French side.

As a result, The Red Devils are now heading into the second leg at Old Trafford with no advantage as Lyon equalised in extra time thanks to a ridiculous parry from Onana.

However, Onana’s performance wasn’t the only tearful part of the occasion for fans, with their treatment by the Lyon police now being investigated by United.

Lyon police use tear gas on Manchester United fans

2,800 United fans travelled to France to support The Red Devils in their opening quarter-final, however, their journey to the game wasn’t a simple one.

Yahoo Sports has reported that fans had to travel 13 miles from Lyon city centre to a conference centre to collect their wristbands before using shuttle buses to the ground.

This generated significant expenses for the fans as well as being made worse by malfunctioning public transport and large queues at the pick-up point.

However, the issues continued after the game, with Lyon police holding back the fans for an hour, and even used tear gas.

Taking to X, one united fan, Harry Robinson, wrote: “Frustrating end to United’s game in Lyon.”

He continued: “Fans warned of an hour’s holdback, but with full access to facilities. French police have locked off the toilets and concourse are now pepper spraying behind riot shields. Thanks for the hospitality.”

Responding to the situation, Manchester United Supports Trust chief executive Duncan Drasdo commented: “90 per cent of the time on Euro aways if there is aggro it’s with the police rather than local fans.”

He continued: “Most countries can do this right but there are almost always problems with the French police. All too often they create the aggro they are supposed to be preventing.”

  • Galatasaray to use AI app to land Victor Osimhen

Manchester United’s Europa League journey is on a knife’s edge after a dramatic 2-2 draw against Lyon, with the return leg at Old Trafford now carrying massive importance.

Kobbie Mainoo’s comeback to training provided a lift to Ruben Amorim’s squad, while questions continue to swirl around Andre Onana’s recent errors in goal.

With injuries to key players like Matthijs de Ligt and Ayden Heaven, Amorim’s options are stretched thin as United push for silverware to salvage a poor domestic campaign.

Off the pitch, United’s summer transfer window is already shaping up to be one of high drama, with major targets and strategic decisions looming.

Among them, Victor Osimhen remains firmly on United’s radar — a player admired for his physicality, goalscoring instincts, and suitability for the Premier League.

But in a surprising twist, Turkish champions Galatasaray have entered the race for Victor Osimhen with a futuristic gameplan that could disrupt United’s pursuit.

The Istanbul giants have launched talks with Napoli and are determined to make Osimhen’s loan deal permanent by activating their €66 million purchase option.

What sets their approach apart is how they plan to fund the record-breaking move.

CLICK HERE TO JOIN THE CENTRE DEVILS WHATSAPP GROUP CHAT NOW!

According to reports from Turkish outlet A Spor, Galatasaray are developing an AI-powered mobile app to raise funds.

The app will feature premium fan memberships priced at 2,500 Turkish Lira (£50) , offering behind-the-scenes access, training visits, and exclusive events.

The club aims to attract 500 000 premium members in the first rollout, generating enough income to cover the initial instalment of Osimhen’s transfer fee.

Talks with Napoli are already underway, and Galatasaray are urging the Italian side to give serious consideration to their bid.

The Nigerian striker, who has scored 28 goals in 32 appearances this season, is reportedly demanding €15 million per year should the deal become permanent.

Manchester United, Chelsea, and Juventus remain keen, but Galatasaray’s tech-powered gamble could tilt the scales.

If successful, it would mark one of the most unorthodox transfer coups in recent football history — and United may need to rethink their strategy fast.

  • Ruben Amorim has his say on Andre Onana

Manchester United’s quarter-final tie with Olympique Lyonnais was anything but straightforward for the Red Devils.

The club’s Europa League journey now hangs in the balance after a dramatic 2-2 draw away to Lyon in the quarter-final first leg.

While Leny Yoro and Bruno Fernandes were among the brighter sparks on the night, United’s frailties reared their head again when it mattered most.

This wasn’t the first time United have let a lead slip late in a European tie, but the manner of the draw – and who was responsible – has stirred fresh controversy and criticism.

The focus is now firmly on next week’s second leg at Old Trafford, with United desperate to turn a frustrating result into a route to the semi-finals.

Andre Onana was once again in the spotlight after two costly errors denied United a win, with the second mistake coming deep into stoppage time to hand Lyon a late equaliser.

The Cameroonian keeper had already come under fire before the match due to a war of words with ex-United midfielder Nemanja Matic, who called him “one of the worst goalkeepers in United’s history.”

Andre Onana had previously claimed United were “way better” than Lyon, a comment that backfired spectacularly after his display.

Despite the criticism and growing concerns from fans, manager Ruben Amorim has come out in full support of his No.1.

“It can happen,” Amorim said post-match.

“I make more mistakes than them during these last games and these last months.”

He added, “I’m really confident in Andre… The best thing is to look at the goals, all the actions that Andre had in the game.

“That’s the best way to help any player.”

Amorim also played down the significance of Matic’s comments, insisting that pre-match drama was not a distraction and that the focus now is firmly on correcting errors before the return leg.

As United prepare for another high-stakes night at Old Trafford, the pressure is mounting – not only to win, but to restore trust in their most scrutinised player.

  • Five things learnt from Lyon 2-2 Manchester United

The blue touch paper had been lit with the war of words between Nemanja Matic and Andre Onana before the game.

The Cameroonian goalkeeper said Man Utd were a better team, Matic in a pre-match press conference savagely responded labelling Onana ‘one of the worse goalkeepers in United’s history’.

The game had added spice, despite already being hugely important for Man Utd and Lyon.

Ironically, Lyon opened the scoring due to an Onana goalkeeping error and then equalised through another Onana error, not the first time the keeper has cost Man Utd in Europe.

After getting through a tough first half, an equaliser came at just the right time with an instinctive Leny Yoro header on the stroke of half time.

The crucial goal meant in the second half, despite Lyon’s attacks Man Utd had largely got the game to a tempo they wanted.

All things considered, in a hostile atmosphere against tricky attackers, Man Utd would have been very happy with the 2-1 win, but another error from Onana in the 95th minute left a bitter taste in the mouth.

Here are five things we learnt from the away tie vs Lyon:

    1. Horrific Onana errors

Andre Onana has unfortunately conceded too many mistakes in Europe having been there for two seasons.

Last season’s Champions League campaign was littered with the keeper’s mistakes and after being involved in a war of words before the game, this was the last match he would’ve wanted to concede a goal.

Onana has a strange parrying technique where he tends to parry shots back out into dangerous areas. But with the set-piece goal conceded, despite the awkward bounce in front of him, he really should’ve pushed the ball away.

The same goes for the tame shot for the second goal where the keeper looked shaky.

There was some reports previously of Amorim wanting competition for Onana.

It feels as though if Onana’s poor showing continues, it will only be a matter of time before United look elsewhere or at least play Altay Bayandir more.

    2. Wasteful in Attack again

There are not many options in attack for Ruben Amorim. Amad Diallo is still injured, Mason Mount’s minutes need to be managed and in many games Bruno Fernandes has needed to play in midfiled.

What this has meant is Rasmus Hojlund and Alejandro Garnacho have gotten a lot of minutes and both youngsters look devoid of confidence.

The build-up recently has improved, but it’s salient and irritating from a Man Utd perspective that when the ball reaches the final third, it’s only Bruno Fernandes that makes the right decision.

This was the case for Joshua Zirkzee’s headed goal.

Man Utd’s misfiring attack has been a gigantic problem for two seasons, bar a small period last season where Hojlund and Garnacho were on form before Hojlund got injured, it’s a concern that both have poor decision-making in the final third.

Man Utd conceded twice from goalkeeping errors, but could’ve scored more than two had it not been for another poor showing in attack.

    3. Good Mason Mount cameo

It’s so clear how much higher Mason Mount’s footballing IQ is then some of Man Utd’s other players.

Deep into the second half there was a situation where he was played the ball in his own half, the pass was overhit but he managed to wriggle away from three players and buy a foul.

Mount’s ability has not digressed, he has been incredibly unlucky with injuries since arriving at Old Trafford.

Amorim spoke of the Englishman glowingly in the media and it’s clear to see why.

More Mason Mount minutes will add depth and desperately needed guile in attack.

    4. Last minute Lyon goal, a bitter pill to swallow

Despite the first Onana error, despite the hostile environment and Lyon’s tricky attack causing Man Utd problems, The Red Devils equalised then got their noses in front.

With only a few minutes left, a 2-1 win would’ve been a fabulous result to take back to Old Trafford next week which makes the last minute goal all the more stinging.

It’s the fact that throughout the game, though Lyon had chances, they scored from two completely avoidable goalkeeping errors.

The goal will give Lyon extra energy and hope going into the game next week.

    5. Huge Home Tie Awaits

Goals change games. They effect the temperament and mood of players, staff and fans.

You could see Noussair Mazraoui’s face at the end of the game in utter disbelief at the fact Man Utd had thrown a lead away.

It goes without saying, but the Home Tie vs Lyon at Old Trafford next week is the biggest game of the season.

In the circumstances the away draw to Real Sociedad was one where Man Utd felt happier because it could’ve been much worse and they were never winning. Lyon was a different story.

They probably should’ve scored more and were leading with barely a minute to play.

With the Europa League the only chance for Man Utd to salvage a dreadful season the ante has been upped.

They will have to quickly dust themselves down after a horrible end to a game they should’ve won and prepare themselves for next week.

Man Utd will leave Lyon frustrated, but there is not time to rest on laurels as the biggest game of the season awaits them.

  • Eric Cantona accuses Sir Jim Ratcliffe of ‘destroying’ Manchester United

Eric Cantona has accused Manchester United co-owner Sir Jim Ratcliffe of ripping the soul out of the club.

The former United star returned to Manchester over the weekend and took a public stand by backing FC United of Manchester.

Cantona confirmed that he and six of his family members have become shareholders in the breakaway fan-owned club.

He says his support for FC United is a result of how far Manchester United has drifted from its roots under INEOS.

“I support United because I really love United,” he said as quoted from the Daily Mail.

“But now if I was a fan and I had to choose a club I don’t think I would choose United.”

Eric Cantona slams Sir Jim Ratcliffe for lack of respect

Cantona believes Ratcliffe’s regime lacks respect for the people who made the club special.

He said: “They try to destroy everything and they don’t respect anybody.”

The 58-year-old says Ineos are making cold business decisions without care for the club’s spirit or history.

He is particularly upset by the idea of leaving Old Trafford and building a new £2billion stadium.

“They even want to change the stadium,” he said. “The stadium is iconic.”

“For me, Arsenal lost their soul when they left Highbury.”

“Can you imagine Liverpool playing in another stadium than Anfield?”

Cantona says replacing Old Trafford would take away the energy and identity of the club’s home.

“It’s like when you go in a house and feel a special energy,” he explained. “I don’t think United can play in another stadium.”

He added: “Maybe we are dreamers and they are more about economy and strategy. I hate this kind of decision.”

Cantona also revealed that he offered to help the new leadership rebuild the club’s identity.

Despite his busy film and TV schedule, he told them he was ready to support the project.

But he says they showed no interest.

CLICK HERE TO JOIN THE CENTRE DEVILS WHATSAPP GROUP CHAT NOW!

“I said to them I can put that (aside) and help you to rebuild something,” he said. “And they don’t care.”

His comments reflect frustration with the direction the club is heading in under the new ownership model.

Cantona also criticised INEOS for distancing themselves from Sir Alex Ferguson, saying: “He is more than a legend.”

He believes United’s soul was once found in its people – not just its players.

Cantona’s move to support FC United is a powerful statement that he no longer recognises the club he helped to define.

  • “A vicious cycle” – Rasmus Hojlund opens up on Manchester United struggles

Manchester United striker Rasmus Hojlund has admitted his long goal drought became a “vicious cycle” as poor team form and personal struggles combined during a difficult season.

The 22-year-old ended his 21-game drought with a goal against Leicester City on March 16.

He helped United to a 3-0 win at the King Power Stadium.

That strike, his first since December 12, was followed up by a match-winning goal for Denmark against Portugal during the March international break.

But despite that momentum, the Dane’s overall numbers reflect a challenging campaign in England.

Hojlund has scored just three times in 26 Premier League appearances this season.

Across all competitions, he has registered eight goals and two assists in 41 appearances.

His lack of form has prompted questions about his long-term future at Old Trafford.

Speculation has seen him linked to a potential move to Italy in the summer window.

Ahead of United’s Europa League clash with Lyon later tonight, Hojlund reflected on the barren spell in an interview with Disney+ Denmark, as relayed by SportWitness.

Rasmus Hojlund opens up on goalscoring woes

“It was a vicious circle,” he said.

“We didn’t play that well as a team, and it also affected me.

“But I’m not the type to lie down and give up.”

The forward stressed that his commitment never wavered, even as the goals dried up.

“That’s also why I played and started in those games,” Hojlund explained.

“It’s because I’ve continued to work for the team and on my own game.

“I don’t just sit down and say: ‘It’s great that I haven’t scored in 21 games.

“I sit myself down and look at my game to see what I can do better.”

CLICK HERE TO JOIN THE CENTRE DEVILS WHATSAPP GROUP CHAT NOW!

Despite the personal frustration, Hojlund made it clear that he remained self-critical and determined to improve.

“I also stand somewhere and think, ‘Why the hell is it that I can’t score?’

“Where is it that it’s going wrong?”

While his recent goals offer hope of a turning point, his overall record raises concern about United’s lack of firepower this season.

With the club expected to miss out on Champions League qualification, the Red Devils will be under pressure to review their attacking options.

But for now, Hojlund is focused on rebuilding confidence – and proving that his struggles were only temporary.

  • Sky Sports report Chelsea want to sign Liam Delap

Liam Delap could be on the move this summer with a £30million release clause triggered if Ipswich Town are relegated from the Premier League.

The clause, as reported by CentreDevils, means Delap will be available to suitors should Ipswich fail to survive in their first top-flight season since 2002.

The England U21 striker has impressed this campaign.

He has so far scored 12 goals in 30 league appearances this season under Kieran McKenna.

Delap’s mix of physical strength, movement, and composure in front of goal makes him one of the most promising young strikers in the Premier League.

He’s the kind of centre forward many top clubs need.

Chelsea lead race to sign Liam Delap

Chelsea are reportedly the first to make concrete moves.

The Blues are expected to sign a new striker this summer.

Delap is under serious consideration as part of their shortlist, according to Sky Sports.

Chelsea’s strategy under Todd Boehly has been to invest in youth.

Delap fits their profile perfectly at just 22 years of age.

The striker is seen as a forward who could both compete and grow within their system.

CLICK HERE TO JOIN THE CENTRE DEVILS WHATSAPP GROUP CHAT NOW!

Chelsea’s top scorer in the league this year has been left-back Marc Cucurella.

Thus, highlighting their need for a natural finisher like Delap.

They have already moved quickly in the market, sealing a £62m double deal for Geovany Quenda and Dario Essugo from Sporting.

While Chelsea look primed to act fast, Manchester United could be left watching from the sidelines again.

Delap to Chelsea potential huge blow for Red Devils

Missing out on Delap would be another blow for United.

The Red Devils are still without a long-term striker solution to support Rasmus Hojlund.

With Champions League football looking unlikely for next season, United risk falling further behind in the race for top attacking talent.

Delap may not be a blockbuster name yet.

However, he has all the tools to explode.

United can’t afford to keep letting these targets slip away.

  • Exclusive: Manchester United hold talks with Oumar Camara

Manchester United look set for a big summer under manager Ruben Amorim.

The Portuguese coach is aiming for a much needed overhaul of the squad.

United’s last two signings have come under Amorim’s tenure at the club and have been Patrick Dorgu and Ayden Heaven.

Both the players are of a younger profile than previous signings the club have made.

It seems that’s the new direction being undertaken by the new leadership.

CLICK HERE TO JOIN THE CENTRE DEVILS WHATSAPP GROUP CHAT NOW!

And now, United are eyeing a fresh wave of exciting young talent this summer, with Paris Saint-Germain emerging as a key target for potential signings.

United hold talks for Oumar Camara

One of the standout prospects catching the eyes of the Manchester United recruitment team is Oumar Camara from PSG.

CentreDevils can exclusively confirm that Manchester United have held a meeting with Oumar Camara’s agents and are now pushing for a move.

However, United are not the only club in the race to sign the 17-year-old.

With interest from clubs like Borussia Dortmund, the Red Devils are moving fast to get ahead in the race.

Camara, a key figure for PSG’s U19 squad, has often worn the captain’s armband.

CLICK HERE TO JOIN THE CENTRE DEVILS WHATSAPP GROUP CHAT NOW!

The winger has recorded nine goals and three assists in 22 appearances this season, marking him out as one of the brightest young players in France.

This development comes after I broke the news last week of United initiating contact with Camara’s representatives.

Previously, the club had made contact, but the latest is that a meeting has now taken place to discuss the move between the two parties.

Talks have now progressed, with United pushing hard to secure a deal — and things could move fast.

It’s not just Oumar Camara who is on United’s radar.

CentreDevils understand, the club are also keeping a close eye on two of his PSG teammates.

They are Mahamadou Sangare and Axel Tape.

L’Equipe reported last week that all three players — Camara, Sangare, and Tape — are expected to leave PSG this summer.

United have now expressed interest in all three.

Sangare has delivered standout performances in the Youth League, scoring 10 goals — including two hat-tricks against Bayern Munich and Atletico Madrid.

Meanwhile, 17-year-old Tape is already on the fringes of senior football, having made his debut for PSG’s first team in a Coupe de France clash with FC Espaly.

Tape is also regarded as one of the best young ball playing centre-backs in France and a player of massive potential.

Securing one of these talents would be a win.

But landing all three would mark a major coup for Manchester United’s youth recruitment strategy.
