Bruno Fernandes has had the privilege of playing alongside some elite footballers throughout his career.
While this current Manchester United squad hasn’t exactly set the world alight, Fernandes has still shared a pitch with some of the game’s most talented stars during his time at Old Trafford.
That includes serial winners like Casemiro and Raphael Varane.
As well as a former world-record signing in Paul Pogba, and exciting young talents like Amad Diallo.
The midfielder has also been a mainstay in the Portugal national team.
Thus, adding even more quality to the list of teammates he’s played with.
Bruno Fernandes names Cristiano Ronaldo as best teammate
Speaking to TNT Sports, Fernandes was asked a simple but telling question: who is the best player he’s ever played with?
Without hesitation, the United captain gave his answer and picked a fellow countryman he has both national and club experience with.
When asked directly: “Who is the best player you have played with?”, Fernandes replied simply: “Cristiano.”
The pairing of Fernandes and Cristiano Ronaldo always felt like a natural fit.
An elite creator linking up with a world-class goalscorer.
That stint may not have ended the way many would have hoped, but the respect between the two players has always remained strong.

However, their actual numbers together might surprise some fans.
Despite the hype around the duo, Fernandes has only recorded six assists for his former club and international teammate.
That’s a modest tally considering their individual brilliance.
However, it hasn’t dampened the admiration Fernandes clearly has.
It’s not the most statistically fruitful partnership.

Although, few would argue with the midfielder’s choice given the heights Ronaldo reached.
The two stars never managed to lift a trophy together, either at club or international level.
Their bond however, remains a strong one.
With a major international tournament around the corner in 2026, there’s always the chance their journey together isn’t quite over yet.
Fernandes’ answer is a reminder of the calibre of players who have passed through United in recent years.
Even if the trophies haven’t always followed.
It’s also a hint of the standards he holds when it comes to greatness.
