  • Biden awards Jan 6 Committee members with Presidential Medal

President Joe Biden awarded two of the top January 6 House Select Committee members, former Rep. Liz Cheney (R-Wyo.) and Rep. Bennie Thompson (D-Miss.), with the Presidential Citizens Medal on Thursday.

In a Thursday press release, the White House released a list of 20 recipients of the Presidential Citizens Medal, which is the second-highest medal a U.S. civilian can be awarded. In the press release, the White House explained that the award is given to “citizens of the United States of America who have performed exemplary deeds of service for their country or their fellow citizens.”

“President Biden believes these Americans are bonded by their common decency and commitment to serving others,” the White House stated. “The country is better because of their dedication and sacrifice.”

Thursday’s press release highlighted Cheney’s two decades of public service, including her role as “Vice Chair of the Committee on the January 6 attack.” The White House wrote, “Liz Cheney has raised her voice—and reached across the aisle—to defend our Nation and the ideals we stand for: Freedom. Dignity. And decency. Her integrity and intrepidness remind us all what is possible if we work together.”

Biden’s decision to award Cheney with the Presidential Citizens Medal comes amid reports that the president could issue a preemptive pardon for the former Republican representative prior to President-elect Donald Trump’s inauguration.

The House Administration’s Subcommittee on Oversight recently recommended that Cheney “should be investigated for potential criminal witness tampering based on the new information about her communication” with a January 6 witness.

In a post on X, formerly Twitter, journalist Nick Sortor shared a video of Biden presenting Cheney with the Presidential Citizens Medal for “putting the American people over party.”

“Joe Biden just awarded Liz Cheney, who LIED and tampered with ‘witnesses’ in the J6 committee, the Presidential Citizens Medal,” Sortor tweeted. “Absolutely disgusting. Who wants to bet she’ll get a pardon next? This medal is SUPPOSED to be for those who perform ‘exemplary deeds for their country or citizens,’ but of course, Biden decided to award it to a woman who tried to do his political dirty work.”

Regarding Thompson’s award, the White House said the Mississippi congressman was inspired by the Civil Rights movement, worked to register African American voters, and eventually decided to run for Congress, “where he chaired the House January 6th Committee—at the forefront of defending the rule of law with unwavering integrity and a steadfast commitment to truth.”

In another video, Thompson can be seen accepting the Presidential Citizens Medal. In a statement released on social media, the Democrat congressman said he was “honored” to receive the award from Biden. Thompson claimed that he has been dedicated to “ensuring that democratic principles benefit all Americans, not just a select few.”

  • 250,000+ white girls raped in UK in this century: Report

A viral video shows a member of the Parliament of the United Kingdom challenging the nation’s government with a report that over 250,000 young white girls have been raped in this century and that the young girls have “very largely” been raped by “Muslim men.”

In a video shared by Don Keith, host of “The Real Beef With Don Keith,” a member of the Parliament of the United Kingdom said that reports show there “appear to have been upwards of 250,000 young white girls raped in this century, very largely by Muslim men.” The United Kingdom politician added that the girls referenced by the reports are “usually raped several times a day for years.”

“So, my lords, what is the government’s answer to the chief constable of Northumbria, who has just said that there is every likelihood that these grooming gangs are operating in every one of our major cities?” the politician asked.

The member of the Parliament of the United Kingdom who revealed the troubling statistics then challenged other lawmakers to consider what the British government is doing to “prosecute those in authority who turned a blind eye” to increased reports of rape in fear of being labeled “Islamophobic.” He also asked what the government is doing to help the victims of rape deal with mental trauma.

The viral video was quickly met with numerous social media users pointing out that the other members of parliament did not appear to be enraged by the statistics until the politician mentioned that a large number of rape incidents had been caused by Muslim men. One social media user wrote, “When the speaker said 250,000 white girls were r@ped. No one made a sound. When he then said it was mostly by Muslim men. They gasped and spoke up. These psychos need to all be destroyed.”

Another social media user tweeted, “This scandal should be the biggest story in the world right now. A quarter of a million girls will never be the same again and far too many governments officials knew about it but let it continue for solely political reasons.”

A third social media user commented, “Do you hear the uproar in the Lords as soon as he says by Muslim men! Even the Lords have been infiltrated. Why is there so much protection for Muslims in Europe and the US now? Is it because it affects the globalist agenda? The one where all governments get billions of pounds each year to take these illegals in.”

  • Juvenile plunges 50 feet down decommissioned missile silo in Colorado. See the rescue

A juvenile was exploring a decommissioned nuclear missile facility in Colorado when he fell 50 feet into a silo, rescuers said.

The silo was an exhaust vent tunnel at the Titan Missile Facility on private land in Watkins, east of the Aurora Reservoir, Sable Altura Fire Rescue posted Jan. 1 on Facebook. A missile silo is the underground chamber where a guided missile is kept.

Rescuers constructed a rope system and two of them lowered into the exhaust vent tunnel to check out the individual’s injuries, then they attached him to a harness to lift him out, officials said.

    (Sable Altura Fire Rescue/Facebook)

Rescuers didn’t provide information on the condition of the juvenile or their age. He was just described as a “young male.”

About four feet of water was at the bottom of the vent and “covered pieces of metal and debris,” CBS News Colorado reported and photos show.

    (Sable Altura Fire Rescue/Facebook)

Photos also show the rescue effort, which spanned three rescue agencies that “allowed (the) rescue to be completed VERY rapidly,” officials said.

“A reminder…the military history on the eastern plains of Colorado is better left to the history books,” officials said. “PLEASE do not think for any moment that these are safe environments to enter or explore.”

  • ‘Baywatch’ star Michael Newman dies after 18-year Parkinson’s battle

Michael Newman, a full-time firefighter known for his long-running role as “Newmie” on “Baywatch,” has died after a nearly two-decade battle with Parkinson’s disease. He was 68.

Newman, who was the only actual lifeguard on the show, was “surrounded by his family and friends” when he died “from heart complications” Sunday evening, friend Matt Felker told People.

“I got to see Mike the last time he was conscious and he looked [at] me and in typical Mike fashion said, ‘You’re just in time,’” shared Felker, who directed the recent Hulu docuseries “After Baywatch: Moment in the Sun.”

The Daily News has reached out to Felker for comment.

Newman’s role as fictional lifeguard Mike “Newmie” Newman spanned 150 “Baywatch” episodes between 1989 and 2000, a tenure rivaled only by that of star David Hasselhoff.

He received his Parkinson’s diagnosis in 2006, sharing in the docuseries that his “body has changed so slowly that I hardly notice.”

Despite the slow physical changes, Newman said the disease, for which he took 10 medications daily, had “become the center” of his life.

“This terminal disease has allowed me a lot of thinking time,” he told People back in August, “which I maybe didn’t want, but it’s brought me wisdom.”

Following his diagnosis, Newman worked with the Michael J. Fox Foundation for Parkinson’s Research to raise money for the chronic degenerative brain condition.

“I also hope that the telling of my personal story brings awareness to the importance of finding a Parkinson’s cure,” he said.

Newman made his screen debut in the 1989 TV movie “Baywatch: Panic at Malibu Pier,” and reprised the role in other spinoffs of the lifeguard-centric drama, including “Baywatch Nights” and “Baywatch: White Thunder at Glacier Bay.”

Newman’s other credits include an episode of “Zig and Zag’s Dirty Deeds” and the 1999 movie “Enemy Action.”

Newman is survived by his wife of nearly 40 years, Sarah, as well as their two adult children, Chris and Emily, and their granddaughter, Charlie.

  • Comedian mocks CNN’s low ratings, Democratic Party

Whitney Cummings, a stand-up comedian, roasted CNN over its plummeting viewership ratings during the outlet’s coverage of New Year’s Eve on Tuesday. The comedian also mocked the Democratic Party over its strategy in the 2024 presidential election.

During an appearance Tuesday on CNN’s “New Year’s Eve Live with Anderson Cooper and Andy Cohen,” Cummings said, “I’m now playing 3,000-person shows, which is about the viewership of CNN these days.” The comedian added, “Not this show, though. All eyes are on this show.”

In response to the comedian’s jab at the left-leaning news network, CNN anchor Anderson Cooper laughed and said, “Nice, nice,” while Bravo host Andy Cohen said, “You’re all fiery today.”

According to Fox News, CNN experienced double-digit percentage drops in key viewership metrics in the first two weeks after President-elect Donald Trump’s landslide victory over Vice President Kamala Harris. The outlet noted that CNN lost 33% of its total viewers compared to 2024, while losing 36% of its primetime audience and 39% in demographic ratings.

Fox News reported that CNN dropped to number 17 in primetime cable lineups during the first week of December, as “Anderson Cooper 360,” “CNN NewsNight with Abby Phillip,” and “The Source with Katilan Collins” averaged roughly 367,000 total viewers from 8 p.m. to 11 p.m. In contrast with CNN’s numbers, Fox News reported that it averaged a total of roughly 2.5 million primetime viewers during the first week of December.

During her appearance on CNN’s New Year’s Eve show, Cummings also criticized the entertainment industry for attempting to lecture the American people.

Asked about her new role hosting a trivia show called “Fast Friends,” Cummings said, “You know what, I’m a ‘Friends’ fan. I’m also a fan of entertainment that just entertains. There’s this new thing where everything in Hollywood has to, like, lecture people how to vote and make you feel guilty about global warming.”

Cummings also roasted the Democratic Party over the 2024 election.

“The 2024 election fried our brains. The Democrats couldn’t hold a primary because they were too busy holding a body upright,” the comedian joked. “It was amazing that the pro-choice party didn’t give their voters one when it came to the presidential candidate. Kamala was forced on us so hard, you’d think she was patented by Pfizer or Moderna.”

  • $100 million spent on DEI, ‘woke’ school programs by DOJ: Report

A new report claims that the Department of Justice spent more than $100 million on promoting Restorative Justice, DEI, and Social Emotional Learning initiatives in public school classrooms between 2021 and 2024.

A report published on Thursday by Parents Defending Education noted that the Biden-Harris administration’s Department of Justice awarded 102 grants totaling over $100,113,942 on “proposals promoting restorative justice practices, SEL, and DEI in the classroom from 2021 to 2024.” The Daily Wire reported that the grants impacted over 3 million students in 946 school districts across 36 states.

According to The Daily Wire, the Justice Department’s funding for “woke” initiatives was awarded under the STOP School Violence Program, which offers grants to school districts, nonprofit organizations, and local governments to help “increase school safety by implementing solutions that will improve school climate.”

READ MORE: Biden-Harris admin spent millions to promote DEI in US military: Report

In Thursday’s report, Parents Defending Education explained that “improving school climate” typically means implementing “restorative practices and social emotional learning,” which disrupts the classroom by forcing offending students and victims to “repair harm” instead of “exclusionary discipline,” which involves the removal of disruptive students from the classroom.

Parents Defending Education’s report noted that some of the projects proposed under the funding awarded by the Justice Department involved “bringing in outside consultants to train staff and students on restorative practices.” Additionally, the report said, “Many projects had an explicit goal of improving school climate for ‘disproportionately impacted’ groups, singling out LGBTQ+ and BIPOC.”

Parents Defending Education President Nicki Neily told The Daily Wire on Thursday that the Justice Department’s STOP School Violence Program grants were “intended to be used to address and ameliorate school violence, which has been a major issue of concern to parents across the country over the past several years.”

“It’s appalling,” Neily said, “although not surprising, that DOJ bureaucrats would prioritize DEI initiatives over student safety. American families deserve better, and the sooner waste like this is eliminated, the better.”

  • CIA whistleblower exposes agency ‘cover up’: Report

A Central Intelligence Agency (CIA) whistleblower recently came forward and accused the agency of engaging in a “cover up” regarding mysterious symptoms suffered by former CIA employees. The whistleblower claims that she was the victim of a foreign-directed energy weapon, which caused her to experience an “Anomalous Health Incident (AHI) known as “Havana Syndrome.”

In a recent interview with journalist Catherine Herridge, a former Intelligence Officer and whistleblower identified only as “Alice” noted that she suffered an AHI in 2021 after serving the U.S. government for roughly two decades. After experiencing the AHI, the whistleblower was forced to medically retire and now suffers from memory lapses, headaches, nerve pain, eye tracking disorders, balance issues, and other symptoms.

Alice told Herridge that she believed a foreign adversary, such as Russia, was behind the directed energy weapon attack that caused her to experience an AHI. She also claimed that the CIA has engaged in a “cover up” that “should be terrifying to all Americans.”

The whistleblower’s testimony comes after a House Permanent Select Committee on Intelligence released a report in December, claiming that it “is increasingly likely a foreign adversary is responsible for some portion of reported AHIs.” The report also noted, “The Intelligence Community tried to impede the CIA Subcommittee’s investigation at every turn.”

READ MORE: Video: Pentagon whistleblower says gov’t restricting UFO retrieval info

According to Catherine Herridge Reports, while intelligence experts discovered evidence that pointed to the possibility of a directed energy weapon being responsible for AHI incidents, the National Intelligence Council released an Intelligence Community Assessment (ICA) in 2023, claiming, “Most IC agencies have concluded that it is ‘very unlikely’ a foreign adversary is responsible for the reported AHIs. IC agencies have varying confidence levels, with two agencies at moderate-to-high confidence while three are at moderate confidence.”

However, despite the National Intelligence Council’s claims, a letter sent to the CIA whistleblower in March by Brigadier Gen. Shannon O’Harren, former head of the Department of Defense AHI Cross-Function Team, said, “We believe your experiences are real, and we are unwaveringly committed to continue to provide quality care for you and those who are eligible.”

Asked why she is coming forward with her whistleblower testimony after years of quietly advocating for AHI survivors, Alice told Herridge, “Because the CIA is betraying and not just betraying but making friends of mine and my life a living hell. I want them to stop hurting my friends.”

“I want them to give everyone I care about medical care and Havana Act payments and to take care of us in the long term,” Alice added. “I want them to stop denying what is happening to us and so there can be opportunities to collect the information that we need so that we can prevent this from happening to more people.”

  • New Orleans attacker acted alone; feds look for ties to Cybertruck explosion in Las Vegas

Federal authorities uncovered new details into the suspected terror attack in New Orleans that killed 14 people while probing possible links to a second New Year’s Day incident in which a Tesla Cybertruck blew up outside a Trump hotel in Las Vegas.

The timing of both acts of violence, just hours apart, has drawn suspicion. Officials revealed both men served for years in the U.S. military, including for a time at the same base. The two men also rented the vehicles used in the attacks through Turo, a platform where people can rent cars directly from vehicle owners.

But federal investigators stressed it remains unclear whether there was any coordination or if the perpetrators knew each other.

“It’s an interesting thing during these kinds of investigations that if these turned out to be simply similarities — very strange similarities to have — so we’re not prepared to rule in or rule out anything at this point,” Las Vegas Metropolitan Police Department Sheriff Kevin McMahill said.

The incidents left the nation shaken, in part because officials on Wednesday suggested the man who drove through Bourbon Street plowing down pedestrians might have had accomplices. On Thursday, they said they are now confident he acted alone and that they are not searching for other suspects.

Shamsud-Din Jabbar, 42, drove a rented pickup truck bearing a flag of the Islamic State from Houston to New Orleans on New Year’s Eve. Early on New Year’s Day, officials say he drove the truck onto a sidewalk, going around a police car that was positioned to block vehicular traffic, authorities said.

The attack killed 14 and injured 35 others, officials said. Police killed Jabbar after he got out of the truck and opened fire on officers, authorities said.

Investigators found two explosive devices in coolers in New Orleans’ French Quarter. Surveillance footage showed Jabbar placing the items in the area several hours before the attack, according to the FBI.

Law enforcement sources told The Times that the devices appeared to be homemade pipe bombs with nails. The devices did not go off.

Law enforcement officials told The Times that Jabbar was wearing body armor. Investigators recovered a handgun and an AR-style rifle after the shootout, a law enforcement official said. The official was not authorized to discuss details of the investigation publicly and spoke on condition of anonymity.

Jabbar joined the Army in 2007, serving on active duty in human resources and information technology and deploying to Afghanistan from 2009 to 2010, the service said. He transferred to the Army Reserve in 2015 and left in 2020 with the rank of staff sergeant.

Christopher Raia, deputy assistant director of the FBI’s counterterrorism division, said Thursday that the FBI discovered five videos Jabbar posted online hours before the attack, in which he stated he had joined Islamic State before this summer. In one video, Jabbar explained that he originally planned to harm his family and friends but was “concerned the news headlines would not focus on the war between the believers and the disbelievers,” Raia said.

“This was an act of terrorism,” Raia said. “It was premeditated and an evil act.”

In a video on YouTube, Jabbar said he was born in Beaumont, Texas, and worked in human resources and information technology while in the Army. He described himself as a property manager and real estate agent.

Officials are combing through data on three phones and two laptops linked to Jabbar to determine whether there are any other potential leads.

The FBI is also probing the explosion of fuel canisters and firework mortars packed into the bed of a Cybertruck outside President-elect Donald Trump’s property near the iconic Las Vegas Strip that killed the driver and left seven bystanders with minor injuries, officials said.

McMahill said authorities believe the driver was 37-year-old Matthew Livelsberger, but he cautioned that the person’s body was burned beyond recognition so officials have not been able to positively identify him. However, authorities found military identification, credit cards and a passport with Livelsberger’s name inside the vehicle, McMahill said at a news conference.

The driver sustained a self-inflicted gunshot wound to the head before the truck exploded. Two semiautomatic firearms, purchased by Livelsberger on Monday, were also found inside the vehicle, McMahill said.

The Cybertruck involved in the Las Vegas incident and the Ford F-150 Lightning pickup used in the New Orleans attack were both rented through Turo, a platform where people can rent cars directly from vehicle owners.

A company spokesman said Turo is working with law enforcement, but that it does not believe that either renter “had a criminal background that would have identified them as a security threat.”

Livelsberger rented the Cybertruck in Denver on Saturday and charged the vehicle at Tesla charging stations in Colorado, New Mexico and Arizona, McMahill said.

A traffic camera recorded the Cybertruck arriving in Las Vegas at about 7:30 a.m. Wednesday. The truck traveled up and down the Strip for about an hour and spent some time in the parking lot of a business near Flamingo Road and Las Vegas Boulevard before pulling into the covered driveway outside the Trump International Hotel. The truck exploded about 17 seconds later, near the glass doors to the hotel’s entrance, McMahill said.

The vehicle was caught on surveillance camera driving past the valet section of the hotel an hour prior to the incident, authorities said.

Investigators have not yet figured out how the fireworks and gas and camping fuel canisters in the back of the vehicle were ignited. Federal officials are still trying to determine the motive in the blast.

Livelsberger, who was from the Colorado Springs area, was a master sergeant in the Army’s elite Green Berets unit, according to an Army statement and his LinkedIn profile. He spent most of his time at Ft. Carson in Colorado and in Germany, where he was serving with the 10th Special Forces Group. He was on leave from Germany at the time of the explosion, McMahill said.

The blast did not cause significant damage to the body of the Cybertruck nor did it shatter the glass doors leading to the hotel lobby. Most of the material inside the vehicle was fuel to help cause a greater explosion, according to Kenny Cooper, a special agent in charge for the the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives.

“The level of sophistication is not what we would expect from an individual with this type of military experience,” Cooper said.

Both Livelsberger and Jabbar previously served at the Army’s Ft. Bragg, now known as Ft. Liberty, in North Carolina, but it is not clear whether they served at the same time or in the same unit. Both men also served in Afghanistan in 2009, though officials say they don’t have any evidence they were in the same location in the country or in the same unit, McMahill said.

Livelsberger entered active duty in the Army in December 2012 and was a candidate to be a Green Beret after serving in the Army Reserve and the National Guard, according to an Army spokesperson. His LinkedIn profile indicates that he became a remote and autonomous systems manager two months ago.

On Facebook, Livelsberger posted in drone hobby groups showing off his projects. He asked fellow enthusiasts about which parts to use as he put together his own custom machines.

He also criticized the withdrawal of U.S. forces from Afghanistan in 2021, calling it on social media the “biggest foreign-policy failure in the history of the United States.”

The FBI, the ATF and the Colorado Springs Police Department served a search warrant at a home in Colorado Springs in connection with the explosion in Las Vegas Thursday morning. Federal authorities declined to provide additional details.

Investigators are looking into whether the driver deliberately targeted one of Trump’s properties using a Tesla vehicle. Elon Musk, Tesla’s chief executive, is a close advisor to the president-elect.

“There’s investigative activity taking place literally around the globe,” Las Vegas FBI Special Agent in Charge Spencer Evans said. “At this particular time … we have to focus on what we know and what we don’t know. It’s not lost on us that it’s in front of the Trump building that it’s a Tesla vehicle, but we don’t have information at this point that definitively tells us or suggests it’s because of this particular ideology or any of the reasoning behind it.”
