The Cross River State Government has scheduled April 2016 for the commissioning of the proposed garment factory, which is expected to generate hundreds of employment to the unemployed youths in the state with widows inclusive.
The Governor of Cross River State, Ben Ayade, stated this at the site of the project when he went on an assessment tour to have a first-hand knowledge on the level of the work done at the site. Some of the residents say it will be a dream come true if the governor sticks to the new date he has promised for the commissioning.
The project which is located along the Goodluck Jonathan Byepass in Calabar, is one of the signature projects embarked upon by the state government and when functional, will provide fabrics for the production of Uniforms of all kinds in the state. This, according to the governor will encourage the entrepreneur skills and discourage importation which will translate to an increase in the states revenue.
The governor’s counterpart from Abia State while on a visit sued for the cooperation of the Federal Government towards encouraging signature projects that has direct positive influence on the youths.
For him, Cross River State remains a role model in terms of tourism, security and all which other states should copy from. Speaking to a cross section of traders into garment related businesses, the establishment of the factory in the state capital, will make business more lucrative for them and also save them cost of travelling to other states to procure materials for their businesses.

Supreme Court finally upholds Udom Emmanuel’s election as Akwa Ibom State Governor
The Supreme Court affirmed the choice you had massively and wholeheartedly expressed in me last April 11, 2015 as your Governor, thereby showing once again, that the institution of the judiciary is alive and well, and is keeping watch over the evolution and the deepening of the democratic culture and traditions of our nascent democracy.Let me use this opportunity to salute the Nigerian judiciary for living up to its billing as the last hope of the common man, the good people of Akwa Ibom State for their prayers and steadfast support over the past seven months in the face of what was absolutely the most vile, vitriolic campaign of hatred, blackmail and character assassination ever mounted by an opposition. The battle has been won and lost and in any political contest, there must be a winner and a loser. In this case, the people of Akwa Ibom State won because in their considered opinion and reasoning, their fortunes would be better enhanced with a PDP government continuing its solid dispensation of democratic dividends that had in the past eight and half years, had transformed our state to a destination of choice, which had informed the investment of their trust in me last April 11.
I hereby call on our brothers and sisters from the other side of the political divide to close ranks and join me, in moving Akwa Ibom state to surpass superior performance and ensure development that is sustainable, impactful and expansive. We don’t have any other state to call ours except the great Akwa Abasi Ibom State. Our people have arisen and have shaken off the shackles of complacency, of dependence and of the cultivation of a defeatist and pliant mindset; they have arisen to exploit and posses the greatness that is embedded in us all, by the Almighty God; they have arisen to join their brothers and sisters from other parts of the country to make meaning of their lives, to be productive, to be aspirational; they have arisen to take their place in the boardroom of Nigeria, and not as the flotsams and the jetsams of the Nigerian project who were seen only as the cooks and house helps of the rich and powerful; they have arisen to take their destiny in their hands and in unison tell themselves: Never again shall we be treated as mere irritants or the fringe elements of the Nigerian enterprise. It takes leadership to engender this new mindset. And I stand here again, as your Servant -Leader to restate my commitment to leading you well, to providing an exemplary leadership that will inspire you to rise to your greatness. If you have been amazed at what we have been able to achieve in the past seven months, with all the distractions, you can imagine what is going to happen now that cobwebs have been cleared, the undulating road, rendered straight and the vision that had been muddied by blatant blackmail, now super clear- 20/20. As the Americans would say “you aint seen nothing yet”.I call on our people to remain law abiding and shun acts and tendencies that would cause public disaffection. The other side had a right to aspire to power, even though we don’t agree with their approach and mechanics. Politics should not be used as a wedge issue to divide brothers and sisters, politics should not be an instrument that creates disharmony among an otherwise homogenous people, and we should resist the impulse to stoke ethnic fire among otherwise happy brothers and sisters. As I have always stated: political foes of today may be political allies tomorrow- we should be guided by this ennobling ideal.Thank you again for your support, thank you for believing in us, it is well with the good people of Akwa Ibom State, it is well with Nigeria, it is well with us all. God bless you.Curled from: https://www.akwaibomstate.gov.ng/articles/governor-udom-emmanuel-speaks-affirmation-his-mandate-supreme-court -

Must see Photos: Why Africa is not a continent to live in.
There’s a song I wrote and I titled it ‘Africa’. That song was written by me since 2009 but yet to be released. You wanna listen to the song? Then sponsor me and you’ll hear it in a glimpse. But, that was just that anyways. This I must write about my able continent called Africa.
Africa has been a continent I used to be proud of; the colour (blackness), strength, wiseness, audibility, and lots more. The Beauty that was packed-filled-with including natural resources, good lands and trees, good people and a lots to be mentioned. Fast thinkers, medicine, theologians, historians, philosophers, archaeologists and the like, but where are we now.
We are in times where we no longer believe that our herbs will heal us, instead we import drugs that’ll add disasters to our fined-build bodies. We no longer believe in settling dispute with punishment as the crimes are committed, but instead we import judiciary to set the thieves free and punish the innocent ones. We no longer believe in our monarchs, instead we import Politics that leads to thuggery, kidnap and all sort of killings. We no longer believe in tabling our matters to elders and local Chiefs for resolution, instead we import insurgency and we are now killing our own people for selfish interest. Where is Africa? Where are Africans?!
The Photos below are just few, but this is what and where Africa really is now. I know you don’t care because you sit on the platter of gold, but when we are finished from your slavery, killings, inflicted pains, injuries, sicknesses and diseases, thuggery, and many others, we’ll see who you’ll rule, who you’ll use to get rich or simply to make money, who you’ll enslave, and who you’ll kill. Because, we’re close to that period now, we’re almost there. If can’t see it, I see it coming….!

Jedy Agba Petitions IG, DSS, Alleges Threat To Life From Cross River Government
Inspector General of Police, Mr. Solomon Arase and his Directorate of State Security Service counterpart, Alhaji Lawal Daura have been alerted to alleged blackmail and threats to the life of former Nigeria National Petroleum Corporation group general manager, Prince Goddy Jedy-Agba and his wife, Mrs. Beatrice Jedy-Agba by the Cross River State Government and its agents. In separate petitions signed by Mrs. Justina Obono-Obla of Obono, Obono & Associates to both Arase and Daura, Obono-Obla explained that since the defection of Jedy-Agba, an erstwhile frontline governorship aspirant in Cross River State, from the Peoples’ Democratic Party (PDP) to the All Progressive Congress (APC), ‘he has continually been subjected to campaigns of calumny, blackmail, intimidation and character assassination by the Cross River State Government and its agents.’Obono-Obla stressed that ‘for having the audacity to defect to the APC, the state government mobilized its resources and has been sponsoring negative publications on both the social and online media to smear and tarnish the image of Jedy-Agba, his wife and family on account of an equally spurious petition from the self-styled faceless group called the South-South Coalition for Change.’She alleged that ‘apart from the spurious petitions, some of these agents of the state government have been sending messages threatening the lives of Jedy-Agba and family including blackmailing him with threats of filing petitions to the EFCC and ICPC, IGP and President Muhammadu Buhari on our client’s career at the NNPC.’Obono-Obla said it was worth mentioning that Jedy-Agba was constantly being harassed with calls and text messages from the owner of mobile phone number 09085944279 threatening to expose Jedy-Agba to security agencies. While calling for an investigation to unravel the identity of the owner of the mobile number, Obono-Obla said Jedy-Agba was sent an SMS accusing him that ‘You gave Vena money to circulate a video on Television on Ayade’s campaign against Buhari. We too will be on national dailies on your activities and in open letters to EFCC and Buhari in the newspapers. Vena is on Facebook everyday insulting the Governor under your instructions.’From CrossRiverWatch -

Buhari – Why we’re not hard on Boko Haram
President Muhammadu Buhari on Wednesday explained why Nigeria is using “minimum force” in fighting Boko Haram insurgents, saying his administration was doing its utmost best to protect the fundamental human rights of persons in the theatre of operations.Addressing a special session of the EU parliament in Strasbourg, France, President Buhari said his government shared the European Union’s commitment to peace and security. He said he also shared the UN’s respect for human rights, democracy and good governance, equality and tolerance, as ways of developing prosperous and strong societies.“For our part, we have updated our rules of engagement in fighting terrorism and pay very close attention during operations to the treatment of captured terrorists, civilians caught up in the conflict and in general, safeguarding property.
