  • Dr. Betta Edu commends President Buhari for appointing a new Primary Health Executive Director

Cross River State Primary Health Care Development Agency (CRSPHCDA) Director General, Dr. Betta Edu has commended President Muhammadu Buhari for appointing a new Executive Director (ED) for the National Primary Health Care Development Agency (NPHCDA).

President Buhari had earlier this afternoon announced the sack of the heads of five medical agencies and replaced them with new ones which includes Professor Echezona Ezeanolue, a Professor of Paediatrics and Public Health at the University of Nevada, Las Vegas, USA who replaces Dr. Ado Mohammed as the ED NPHCDA.

In this ordeal, Dr. Betta made known in a statement issued in Vienna to congratulate the new ED, Professor Echezona Ezeanolue where she said President Buhari has demonstrated his will to re-position the health care system in the country, especially the primary health system which she says has been made a priority.

Dr Edu’s statement reads, “We receive with enthusiasm the news of the appointment of the new Executive Director and we congratulate president Buhari for his continuous effort to strengthen PHC (sic) in Nigeria especially with his administration’s policy in health centred on primary health care.

“However, we must advise our new ED that his job is humongous and for him to succeed he must deliberately carry along his foot soldiers, the head of SPHCDA in all the states as well as other key stakeholders. We must be innovative in the face of tight economic times and our programmes and intervention must remain people centred”.

  • Nigerian’s cried out after the commissioning of Lagos-Kano railway by President Buhari

There’s a commotion right now on social media as many Nigerians cried out after the commissioning of Lagos-Kano railway by President Buhari. Trending now is the hashtag, #ThisLiesMustStop. Please all the comments below….

    This lies must stop:

They told us that Goodluck Jonathan have looted Nigeria completely, nothing remain.

OK. It means as at the time Jonathan was leaving, not a dime was left.

So where did we get the billions we used for foreign trips, bail out for states and salaries?

If Buhari and his co travelers are not lying lairs, how come pure water was #5 in my street till Jonathan the destroyer left.and now its #10 under the re-bounder?

Jonathan looted Nigeria dry yet we had enough food to eat and drink,we could buy fuel @ #86 and kerosene @ #50.we could pay NEPA bills and lots more.

Today our messiah have come, he is recovering all that Jonathan stole, people are returning their loots, there is no more stealing,no more wastage,no more leakages, and I expect our living conditions to be several times better than it was under Jonathan, but as we can all see,the hunger, suffering and pains is getting worse by the day.

The suffering we are seeing under this Buhari government is the worse I have ever seen.

They are still lying to us that Jonathan is the cause of our suffering and Buhari is the cure.
Now assuming we were suffering under Jonathan shouldn’t we be smiling now?

If Buhari is the cure, how come we are suffering under him,or is this suffering his own explanation of change?

    This lies must stop.

A thief stole your property for long and you didn’t feel any pains, now that you are recovering all that you lost, instead of smiling you are now feeling the pains.

Anyone who smiles The day he was robbed and cry the day the robbers are apprehended is a calamitous calamity.

    This lies must stop:

Let’s tell ourselves The gospel truth, Buhari lacks knowledge of what exactly to do. Hosea 4:6….”my people are destroyed for lack of knowledge”

Frankly speaking knowledge is a scarce resource in this government.all they dish out daily is lies and propaganda.

The only project to be commissioned by Buhari is Jonathan’s project.

Buhari should tell us the truth for once, this is how hard life was in his first rule,we suffered like this until Babangida saved us,who will save us this time?

Under Jonathan dogs eat bones no meat,we voted for buhari so our dogs can eat meat, but now they eat corn and drink garri. Men now measure yams and ingredients for their wives to cook, people are crying, hunger is biting harder, who will save us this time? Babangida where are you?

  • Governor Ayade: Leading from the front the leader Cross River needs

One irrefutable characteristic common to leaders with an uncommon passion to serve their people and mankind in general, be it in the military, politics, religious and other areas is that they are not in any way afraid of taking action they know will be for the interests of all, they are never scar e of criticisms, they are never afraid to lead from the front, and not from the rear like cowards.

They lead by example, they give directive /command to the people like a real military commander in a battle front, they are ready to confront the enemies’ hosts frontally, employing skills, tact, intelligence and then prowess. They take the bashing on behalf of those they lead and damned the consequences.

Cross River Governor, Senator Benedict Ayade is one leader who has so far proven to possess these rare qualities as succinctly stated above. Presiding over the affairs of a state in financial wilderness due to near zero allocation from the federation account in the past 13 months plus and still able to eke out financial water out of the dry desert rocks to run the Cross River, pay salaries, carry out infrastructure/ social and industrial development is a miracle to Cross Riverians, Nigerians and even foreigners.

As a leader who is vast, multi-talented with an outstanding power of oratory, a true leader and commander, and a knowledgeable one for that instance, refuses to stay back, fold his arms and lament as some will, but rather took the bull by the horns by going to convince and attract down investors to the state to invest in some major areas industrially and educationally. Not even the acidic critics of some Cross Riverians could detract and cause him to defocus from his set developmental course, as he recently stated lucidly that “criticism is an inspirational tonic” to him, it is a motivator, hence rather than cause him sleepless night , it encourages him.

Is there any wonder that recently the former governor of Imo state, Ikedi G. Ohakim described Senator Ben Ayade as the new national reference on leadership?

A fearless commander and leader as he is, when Ayade heard about the security situation in the state while away outside the country, came back and immediately took a very radical proactive measure as a leader who leads his people from the front by calling an enlarged security meeting with the Commissioner of Police, Cross River, all the service Chiefs Army Navy and Air Force) and other paramilitary organizations in the state, and shortly after the meeting, addressed the press and sounded a clear warning to criminals and those who harbor them that the government will go after them.

A day to the enlarged security meeting, Governor Ben Ayade had received the Consul-General of France in his entourage which included some officials of Lafarge company in his private residence, State Housing, Calabar, where the talks did not only centred on business and the water project by the French government in Obubra and Okpoma, but also on security where the governor gave them a firm assurance that the state government will ensure that French companies and other companies operating in the state do so in safety.

In that meeting, Governor Ayade informed the Consul-General of France that Cross River will establish the Cross River Homeland Security Service and formally reported it in the press conference the following day. He said that the Homeland Security would be a non-arm bearing and voluntary outfit that will gather intelligence report, and share such with other security agents.

As a follow up to the security meeting and the press conference, the next day being Saturday, July 9, 2016, Governor Ben Ayade personally led all the service Chiefs, the Commissioner of Police, Cross river and other heads of paramilitary organizations in a ride/track along the streets/highways of Calabar in an operation code-named, “Operation Show of Force”, to give confident to the residents of Calabar that the government and the security agents were fully on ground to protect their lives and property, while at the same time warning the criminal elements that they were coming after them in earnest.

The same day, security personnel were dispatch to all the streets of Calabar to checkmate the activities of criminals, kidnappers, hoodlums and other undesirable elements and characters in the state and Calabar in particular just as Calabar city has been split into 11 security sections for easy coverage and administration by the security agents, and this is to be sustained until the bad guys are flush out.

To ensure that Cross Riverians live in peace and harmony and that there is intra and inter-community harmony, Governor Ayade equally called and had a meeting with traditional Rulers Council in the state and appealed to the natural rulers to ensure that peaceful co-existence and harmony prevails in their various domains, while warning that the state government will decertified traditional rulers who would not maintain peace in their various communities.

Efforts of Governor Ayade especially in the area of ensuring that there is a conducive environment for both local and foreign investors and their investments in Cross River has not gone unnoticed even by the international community as recently the United States through its outgone ambassador to Nigeria emphatically stated that Cross River state remains a favourite state in Nigeria to do business and for investors.

Again, as a leader with the interest of his people rooted deeply in his heart, after ensuring that security personnel were dispatched to Calabar streets to maintain firm security in the metropolis, Ayade also directed the commencement of a radio programme in the Cross River Broadcasting Corporation anchored by Beatrice Akpala, Solomon Asha and Emmanuel Ulayi, to give Cross Riverians and other Nigerians the opportunity to directly seek for accountability and explanation on government policies and programme from agents of government in the various ministries, departments and agencies (MDAs) in Cross River, including the very sensitive issue of security.

Within this short period, five public officers, the Speaker of Cross River House of Assembly, Rt. Hon. John Gaul Lebo, the Attorney-General and Commissioner for Justice, Barr. Joe Oshie Abang, the commissioner for Women Affairs, Hon. Stella Odey, the State Security adviser, Mr. Jude Ngaji and the Commissioner of Police, Cross River, Mr. Jimoh O. Ozi-Obeh have in two radio programmes of one hour each featured and gave explanation/answers to questions from the presenters and the text messages from members of the public to Cross Riverians, other Nigerians and foreigners residing and carrying out legitimate businesses in the state.

In the two programmes, the five official guests from the Cross River government speaking on the topics, “Building the Cross River State of our Dream” and “Security in Cross River State” succinctly and sincerely provided information and answers bordering on what the state government is doing to realize our dream Cross River as well as provide adequate security for lives and property in the state and the responsibility of citizens in that direction.

Cross Riverians and other Nigerians were also given detailed information on the numbers of Bills so far before the CRHA and those already passed into law, the government efforts aimed at ensuring the institutionalization of the culture of quick dispensation of justice, promoting alternative dispute settlement mostly on matters between government and a private citizen or a corporate organization, and the prime place given to women in the present political dispensation as well as effort to ensure that they benefit from the Bank of Industry, Bank of Agriculture and other banks incentives/soft loans and grants.

The people are also strongly advised to as from henceforth be more interested on what goes on around them, the activities of their neighbours, and the need for parents to monitor very closely their children activities and friends and that there was also need to return back to hose old time but cherished values and virtues where we were our brothers and sisters keepers. They people were also advised to report any suspicious person or persons and movement to the government and the law enforcement agents for prompt intervention as the Commissioner of Police a d State Security Adviser’s numbers are in public domain including the numbers form the 11 security sections of Calabar.

Investigations by these writers and some of the information received from the public during the two lived radio programmes so far indicates that Cross Riverians and other Nigerians in cross River are happy with the security measures so far taken by the state government, indicating that the administration of Senator Ayade is on track.

Ayade has indeed so far so good proven that he is a leader and commander that can be trusted, and he has shown that by words and action as he has increased allocation to security sector to ensure the adequate protection of lives and property of the people he loves so much.

Indeed, Governor Ayade is a true leader who leads from the front.

  • Liyel Imoke, Former PDP Emperor Now A Political Beggar By Ogon Bonaventure

The former governor of Cross River Liyel Imoke whose voice thundered in the whole of the 196 council wards of the state from the creeks of Calabar south, Bakassi to the mountain of Obanliku and the grassland of Bekwarra and Yala like a growling lion, is now sober, frail and sick looking.

His grey hair now looks dull grey and brown like an old baboon. He complain of all his closest associate then, now deserting him, he prized himself a demagogue then, but today he confess that he “traded certainty for uncertainty”.

This was the exact words he described himself when he Nicodemously visited Prince Goddy Jeddy Agba by 2:00AM sometime ago, begging with red eyes. The forgiving  prince with the heart of an angel, forgave him to paved his ways with God. If the holy Bible says the consequence of sin is death, the soul that sinneth shall die, does he deserved forgiveness? Those rival he betrayed politically should not allow him close to themselves again.

Rumours had it yesterday that he even call sen.Victor Ndoma Egba on Friday night begging for forgiveness,oh see how the mighty are fallen, did he ever thought of this day in 2015?. The worst that happen to him presently is his forceful retirement from politics by the one he imposed on us, during the last congress of PDP in Cross River State, the governor make sure he dismantle all the structures put in place by Imoke, and replace them with his appointees. He made sure all the senators, Reps members and all the state legislators had no say in electing the new party structure in the state. With this act, he had retired Imoke permanently from politics.

Imoke knew this,he had no alternative than to make peace with those he thought he could forcefully retire from politics in 2015. Some time ago, he personally and later send delegation to beg chief Okoi Obono-obla the SA to the president on prosecution, whom he once sue 1 billion for defamation.

The present fate of Sen. Liyel Imoke should be a moral lessons for some political godfather, who derived pleasure in imposition and impunity which is gradually becoming an old fashion. A man who imposed all the political positions in Cross River State, whose voice was intimidating like the voice of a lion in the forest is now going around begging all those he booted out for forgiveness and those he booted in now see him with contempt.

  • Cross Riverians, Living in the Past, Sacred of the Present, Refusing a grip on the Future by Inok Solomon

There are no miracles apart from the miracles of our hands and brains. There is no freedom in sentiments. Polygamy is a test of creative thinking, diversity is the greatest tools to human development and growth. America is one such example.

While the South lives in Nimrod’s school of thought and the Central are Claiming Israel’s ownership and battling by day with their Philistines neighbours, the North see no centre to hold.

Nigeria Politics the god of disorientation is moving like a wounded Bull, seeking to make sure no seed of true growth and development takes its roots. If only we can retrace our minds back to what happened to Nimrod’s Tower of Babel,  the Israelites bitter lost that continued  till date, and the disunity pitfalls that  kingdoms have suffered over the years, we will recount our steps and ask development questions.

The weakest man on earth is the man whose God is Nigeria Political thought system. His willpower is sold to the devil and progress to him is only but within him. He becomes a wanderer and preaches good that he have no willpower or background knowledge to achieve.

Every request, every opposition, every protest, gets it’s strength from the store house of sentiments. Due to this factor, we lack true growth arguments as to why we do things. When  90 percent protest factors are all based on sentiments and Nigeria political thought system, the direction becomes war.

The South are living in their already collapsing tower, not ready to see reasons. Meanwhile all roads leading to the tower from outside world are cut off. They preach by day the glories of a dilapidated tower, refusing to accept it’s falling state and disconnection from the outside world.

The central are fighting for Jerusalem, the city of God with their Philistines neighbours who have also claimed heritage of Jerusalem.  While they fight, nature is disconnecting them from passable linkages. They give no hopes to those who may consider the use of their roads worthy. As destruction of lives and properties knows not who the real enemy is.

The North, Brainwashed with the Sentimental dreams of an Old province refused to notices that even within the old province, Unity is a rare commodity. While they live in the wallows of Sentiments,  their cries are basically on being deprived without understanding that lack of unity is the major key to their deprivation. Them too are cut off from the collapsing tower brothers or take trek 7 years to get there.

With all these decay, Nigeria Politics remain the only god of redemption,  emancipation and freedom line.

Today we sit like slaves waiting for Nigeria Political Slave masters who holds the keys of future dates to come. Yet we refuse to stand up and make use of what God has put in our hands. Our brains, resource and natural abilities potentials. With vitality and energy, we will our efforts instead to discontent.

If the Devil returns to Adam and ask him to repent and together beg God for forgiveness,  will we all not accept the new era that will come? If an Atam man, like the South will call,  if a Businessman as the Central will call and our brother who is refusing us like Jonathan as the North insinuates, can come up to first think of linking us back to the world through the Superhighway, expand our  financial standings through the Deep Seaport and up till date, we wait for our position in these projects to be decided by foreigners,  where is the Yesterday Cross River? Today’s Cross River?  and Tomorrow Cross River?

Can a death body separate itself from the grave? Or a death fish from floating atop the river? Politics Oh! Politics,  why do you blind the minds of my people? A loving people with open minds and kind heritage.

    Cross River Arise!

  • Ochicha Cautions Gov Ayade Against Intimidation of APC Members in Cross River State

Chieftain of the All Progressive Congress (APC) in Cross River State, Mr. Odey Ochicha has cautioned the state Governor Senator Ben Ayade against intimidation and harassment of members of the opposition APC in the state.

In a statement issued in Calabar by his media aid, Mr. Inyali Peter, Ochicha said that the recent report credited to Barr. Joe Abang, Commissioner for Justice and Attorney General (AG) of the state that the government has declared one of Ayade’s fierce social media critic Mr. Ifere Paul wanted was not acceptable and warned that the APC will no longer tolerate further assault on her members.

The APC stalwart who was also a governorship candidate of the party in 2015 general elections in the state added that Ayade  must stop acting like a demigod or dictator and allow democratic norms to thrive in the state.

He described the action of the AG as a total show of shame, illegal and an abuse of the office he is occupying adding that he has no such right to declare any member of public wanted.

While calling on party members not to panic l, he said that Ayade should face governance and stop portraying himself like an emperor in an uncivilized empire.

Ochicha maintained that the way Ayade has handled opposition in the state is a test on their collective intelligence and so the party will not hesitate to petition the federal government in case of further assault again.

According to him, “Ayade should stop seeing himself like an emperor in an empire where he has absolute powers to determine what people say, do or don’t.

“What the AG did was completely illegal and show of shame because only the police has such right to declare anybody who’s under criminal investigation wanted. He has showed that he is ignorance of the law which means he doesn’t even have respect for the exulted office he is occupying”.

Continuing he quarrelled that, “Soon after Barr. Vena Ikem and Paul Adah left PDP, Vena was declared wanted while Paul’s house was attacked by hoodlums. Democracy allow for right to freedom of expression and association. How come is only the APC members that have been declared wanted?”.

He charged the state Police command and other security agencies in the state not to allow themselves be used as a tool to persecute opposition in the state.

“The Police and other security agencies should know they are not in the state to serve only the interest of the government but also the public. They must avoid being used as tool of vendetta by government”.

    ~Inyali Peter
