  • Judicial Watch: Secret Service Photos of Cocaine Found inside the White House – Documents Suggest the Cocaine Evidence Was Set for ‘Destruction’

(Washington, DC)Judicial Watch announced today it received 112 pages of Secret Service records in a Freedom of Information Act (FOIA) request to the U.S. Department of Homeland Security (DHS) that show photos and communications regarding cocaine found inside the Biden White House in July. The DHS withheld 34 pages in their entirety under the “foreseeable harm” standard, which states “the agency reasonably foresees that disclosure would harm an interest protected by an exemption …” and/or the Privacy Act.

Judicial Watch obtained the records in a July 13 FOIA request filed with the Department of Homeland Security for records, about:

    • A white powdery substance found inside the West Wing of the White House on July 2, 2023, determined through testing to be the illegal drug cocaine.

The cocaine was found in a West Wing phone locker while the Biden family was away for the Fourth of July weekend at Camp David.

The investigative photos include the bag of cocaine found near the White House’s West Executive entrance.

A Secret Service “crime scene examination section evidence report” indicates that the photos were taken on July 2.

The records include July 2 email sent by a Secret Service public information officer whose name is redacted regarding a “suspicious substance at [the] White House:”

A 1″ by 1″ bag of white powdery substance was found near where pass holders put their phones when going into the [redacted] here. UD [Uniformed Division] Crime Scene tested it for drugs but came back inconclusive. TSD couldn’t determine what it was. Closures were made for caution.

DCFEMS [DC Fire & Emergency Medical Services] HAZMAT is on scene as of this email.

An incident report written on July 2 regarding a “suspicious package/incident” details the activities undertaken by the Secret Service Crime Scene Search Unit, the DC Hazmat team and the FBI’s WMD [Weapons of Mass Destruction] Directorate in handling the then-undetermined substance.

An additional July 2 incident report indicates the investigation lasted 12 days and that “cocaine and sodium bicarbonate were identified within the Item 1-1 powder,” also DNA “test results did not identify an individual responsible for the placement of the item within the West Wing of the White House Complex.” The report states that on July 14 the cocaine was “placed on the property/evidence book for ‘destruction.’”

A July 3 email from a person in the Technical Security Division whose name is redacted states:

Starting time Approx 1745 [5:45 p.m.] UD [Uniform Division] advised of a small ziploc bag approximately less than 1″ in by 1″ in the cell phone lockers by [redacted] was confident it was drug related thus the phone call to UD CRIME SCENE.

A July 10 email indicates that no identifiable prints were found on the bag.

On July 13, the Deputy Chief of the U.S. Secret Service Foreign Missions Branch sent a report to the Uniform Division, indicating that the bag of “unknown white powdery substance” was identified as cocaine by the FBI laboratory.

“These photos and documents detail the disruption and expense of the Biden White House cocaine scandal,” said Judicial Watch President Tom Fitton. “Few Americans buy that the Biden administration can’t figure out who brought this cocaine into the West Wing. Indeed, the lack of documentation about the ‘investigation’ of who was responsible is striking.”

  • 2 men charged for allegedly digging up grandmother’s grave in St. Louis

ST. LOUIS COUNTY, Mo. (TCD) — Two 73-year-old men were charged last week after they allegedly dug up their grandmother’s grave over the course of several days in August.

According to a charging document, on Aug. 22, a Berkeley Police Department officer went to Washington Park Cemetery after receiving a call about property damage and located a man, who KSDK-TV identified as Jimmie Allen, “throwing dirt from a grave site.” The officer then reportedly saw Zebulun Nash on his cellphone.

Nash reportedly told the officer he was “retrieving his grandmother’s corpse to relocate her body” and that Allen had been assisting him for the last several days. Allen reportedly corroborated the facts and said he “completed most of the digging at the grave site and was helping defendant Nash retrieve his grandmother’s corpse.”

Nash was arrested on a charge of attempted destroying or defacing cemetery property, which court records show is a misdemeanor.

Berkeley Police Chief Art Jackson told KSDK that if the men wanted to remove the body, they would need a state order to do so.

Washington Park Cemetery has been in existence for 100 years and, according to the website, is “the final resting place for over 42,000 people, and for many years was one of few cemeteries where the Black community could bury their deceased.”

The cemetery’s site said the land is “in a wretched state of neglect and disrepair.”

In a post on Facebook, Saving Washington Park said a “lack of oversight and accountability of these sacred grounds” led to the woman’s grave being dug up.

Nash reportedly drove from Houston to St. Louis and “dug 6 feet down against his family’s wishes to find his grandmother’s remains were not there.”

Nash’s next court date is scheduled for Dec. 12.

  • Bakers targets A Level students with social mobility support programme

Skills sessions, networking, mentorship and more

Global law firm Baker McKenzie is upping its efforts to widen access to the legal profession through a new programme for A Level students.

The 18-month scheme, dubbed ‘Beginnings at Baker McKenzie’, aims to increase access to the legal profession for students from lower socio-economic backgrounds through training and support.

The annual programme will see 20 year 12 students attend regular skills sessions, networking events and a summer work experience placement at the firm. Each participant will also be assigned mentor to support them throughout the scheme.

As they progress into year 13, students will also receive UCAS support, negotiation and presentation skills training and be offered opportunities to attend events before starting uni.

Bakers says those students who “demonstrate a strong commitment and deep interest in law” can then apply for a further programme, which offers additional support, including financial help, during their first year of university.

Legal Cheek’s final UK Virtual Law Fair of the autumn takes place NEXT WEEK on Tuesday 21 November

Bakers’ London graduate recruitment partner, Priyanka Usmani, said:

“As a firm, we are committed to supporting and enhancing client outcomes by recruiting the best talent, irrespective of socio-economic background. We have already put in place a number of successful initiatives to help us achieve this and the launch of the Beginnings at Baker McKenzie Programme, which focuses on early engagement, will help to further level the playing field and create equality of opportunity for individuals from a non-traditional background entering the legal profession.”

A number of firms have launched similar schemes of support in a bid to broaden access to the legal profession.

Addleshaw Goddard recently created a year-long programme to help college students from lower socio-economic backgrounds gain insights into careers in law. This followed similar schemes from the likes of Osborne Clarke, Ropes & Gray, Freshfields and Linklaters.

Last month Legal Cheek reported that the legal profession had dominated the latest social mobility rankings, with over half of 80 or so successful entries coming from law firms.

The Legal Cheek Firms Most List 2024 shows Bakers recruits around 40 trainees each year on a starting salary of £50,000. You can meet members of the firm at our Virtual Law Fair on 21 November (2-5pm). Sign up now.

  • Ga. mom, ex charged 35 years after 5-year-old girl was found dead in TV cabinet in the woods

MILLWOOD, Ga. (TCD) — State law enforcement officials have positively identified a 5-year-old girl who was found in a barrel in a wooded area almost 35 years ago.

According to the Georgia Bureau of Investigation (GBI), on Dec. 21, 1988, the Ware County Sheriff’s Office requested assistance in a death investigation after a young girl’s body was discovered “in a container encased in concrete.” The medical examiner at the time determined her manner of death was homicide, but her cause the death could not be determined.

The National Center for Missing & Exploited Children said in a news release that a truck driver found the container and the remains, which were wrapped in a brown blanket and “concealed inside a duffel bag that was placed inside a TV console cabinet.” Investigators also found a newspaper from Albany, Georgia.

In a press conference, Monday, Nov. 13, GBI Special Agent Jason Seacrist said the body was discovered at an illegal dump site.

Seacrist detailed, “She was inside of an old TV cabinet, wrapped in a blanket inside of a duffel bag inside of a trunk that had been encased in concrete.”

The Georgia Bureau of Investigation reopened the case in 2019 and turned to genome sequencing to help positively identify the girl, who became known as Ware County Jane Doe. The GBI worked with Othram Inc. to create a genealogical profile of the child. She was reportedly found wearing a white pajama top with a horse emblem, white thermal pants with a maroon bottom, and a diaper.

Officials found possible family relations in Albany. The big break in the case, however, occurred when someone reached out to law enforcement in December 2022, which confirmed the girl’s identity as Kenyatta “Keke” Odom. She was 5 years old when she died in Albany.

Georgia Bureau of Investigation agents presented the case to a grand jury Nov. 1. On Nov. 9, detectives arrested Keke’s mother, 56-year-old Evelyn Odom — who also goes by the name Zmecca Luciana — and Odom’s ex-boyfriend, 61-year-old Ulyster Sanders, on charges of felony murder, first-degree cruelty to children, aggravated battery — family violence, concealing the death of another person, and conspiracy to conceal the death of another person.

According to the indictment cited by WJXT-TV, Sanders and Odom allegedly put Keke in boiling water, which severely injured her legs and feet and led to her death.

Seacrist said in the news conference, “Baby Jane Doe is no longer unnamed.”

  • Paralegal asks if it’s OK to get a second job… as a paralegal

‘You almost certainly should not do this’

A user of the popular online community Reddit has questioned whether they could work two paralegal roles at the same time.

The multi-tasker claims to have accepted a remote paralegal role which will require them to work several hours each day, despite already working seven hours in another remote paralegal position. They say they should be able to juggle both commitments by working their second shift in the evening.

“Is it an issue that I am working two separate paralegal jobs at the same time?” they ask users of the r/uklaw message board. “Will it look odd/be an issue in the future when employers see that I was working two paralegal jobs simultaneously on my CV? Or will I have to not put the three hours a day paralegal job on my CV.”

Legal Cheek’s final UK Virtual Law Fair of the autumn takes place NEXT WEEK on Tuesday 21 November

The general consensus among Reddit users is this is a bad idea.

“You almost certainly should not do this,” one wrote. “It would be shocking if your employment contract does not prohibit you from working for another firm without your current firm’s express consent.” The respondent went on flag a Legal Cheek article in which a paralegal found themselves in hot water in similar circumstances.

Similarly, another wrote: “It probably puts you in breach of your current terms of employment and also best not to be dishonest about things. Not to mention potential conflicts of interest, confidentiality and compliance/risk issues.”

But others couldn’t see any issue with doubling-up, “as long as there’s no conflicts of interest”. “You are allowed to have multiple jobs,” one said, “and it won’t be odd to future employers.”

  • Indiana man allegedly walked onto neighbor’s property and shot him in the buttocks

STINESVILLE, Ind. (TCD) — Deputies are actively searching for a suspect they say allegedly shot his neighbor in the butt during a dispute this week.

According to a news release from the Monroe County Sheriff’s Office, on the morning of Monday, Nov. 13, Indiana University Health Bloomington alerted deputies about a male victim being treated for a gunshot wound.

The victim and a witness told the sheriff’s office they were gathering belongings at the victim’s property when 64-year-old Bret Sherrow, a known neighbor, reportedly came over. The victim saw Sherrow “pull a gun out and then place it in his pocket,” and then Sherrow allegedly shoved him. The victim tried to pepper spray Sherrow but failed, according to the sheriff’s office.

Sherrow allegedly began reaching for the gun, and the victim ran away. As he was running, the victim reportedly heard a gunshot and realized that he was hit in the buttocks. The separate witness drove the victim to Indiana University Health Bloomington to seek medical treatment.

Deputies posted Sherrow’s photograph and asked for the public’s assistance in finding him. Sherrow is reportedly 5-foot-10 and 200 pounds. The statement said not to approach Sherrow because he could be armed and dangerous.

  • 16-year-old accused of fatally stabbing newborn and leaving the body in a closet

GORDON, Neb. (TCD) — A 16-year-old girl was arrested last week after she allegedly stabbed her child in the chest multiple times right after giving birth.

According to KOLN-TV, on Monday, Nov. 6, Gordon Police Department officers responded to a residence after receiving a call regarding an unresponsive newborn. The suspect’s father reportedly told police the child was not born alive and it was “too late.”

Gordon Police officers went inside the residence and located the 16-year-old and her mother, who was holding the infant. The teen’s mother reportedly was sobbing and told police her daughter “hurt him,” adding, “You can see the marks.”

The Scottsbluff Star-Herald, which cites the arrest affidavit, reports one of the officers at the scene attempted to give the child first aid but then saw the baby’s throat had been cut through the windpipe. The infant had also suffered multiple stab wounds to the left side of his chest.

The girl’s parents reportedly told police that about an hour before police arrived, the teen took a boning knife out of a kitchen drawer, which was still missing when they checked again. The teen reportedly said she needed to go to a drugstore to buy menstrual pads. The parents allegedly noticed their dog go into their daughter’s room, and when they followed, they found a large amount of blood.

When the teen returned from the store, her mother asked her about the blood. The teen allegedly admitted to killing the child. The father found the newborn’s body in her closet.

Later that night, the girl’s father discovered the boning knife in the closet as well.

The teen was transported to a hospital to undergo surgery.

She was arrested on charges of first-degree murder and use of a deadly weapon to commit a felony.

  • S.C. man sentenced for fatally strangling woman and dumping her naked body in wooded area

EUTAWVILLE, S.C. (TCD) — A 72-year-old man will spend the rest of his life in prison for fatally strangling a 34-year-old North Carolina woman and dumping her body in a wooded area in late 2019.

On Monday, Nov. 13, First Judicial Circuit Solicitor David Pascoe announced that a jury found Kenneth “K.C.” Eastwood guilty of the murder of Cara Hodges after deliberating for just over an hour. A judge then sentenced Eastwood to life in prison.

According to the solicitor’s office, Hodges was visiting her father in Eutawville when she met Eastwood at Fishtales bar on Sunday, Dec. 8, 2019. Hodges reportedly left with Eastwood, and a relative reported her missing two days later, the Orangeburg County Sheriff’s Office said.

Her naked body was discovered in a wooded area on County Line Road on Dec. 12, 2019. The pathologist concluded that she had been strangled.

The Orangeburg County Sheriff’s Office interviewed Eastwood the next day, and he initially denied knowing anything about Hodges’ disappearance. However, he later told a co-worker that he fatally strangled her and dumped her body, according to the solicitor’s office.

The co-worker alerted law enforcement. Eastwood eventually admitted to killing Hodges, and deputies took him into custody. Further evidence supported Eastwood’s confession.

Orangeburg County Sheriff Leroy Ravenell called Hodges’ death a “senseless act of violence.”

Deputy Solicitor Tommy Scott said in a statement, “I would like to thank the jury for their service and this verdict that holds Mr. Eastwood accountable for his monstrous crime.”

Judicial Watch: Emails Show Communications Between Biden Surgeon General and Facebook on Covid Censorship

Judicial Watch announced recently that it received 14 pages of emails between U.S. Surgeon General Vivek Murthy and top Facebook executives in 2021 regarding the censorship of user posts about Covid controversies. The emails show Facebook leadership seeking to “better understand the scope of what the White House expects from us on misinformation going forward.”

Judicial Watch: Records Show Homeland Security’s Cybersecurity Agency Worked with Election Integrity Partnership to Suppress 2020 Election ‘Disinformation’

“The documents show that the Deep State was working hand-in-glove with social media companies to censor speech.” said Judicial Watch President Tom Fitton. “That it took a federal lawsuit to uncover this assault on the First Amendment speaks volumes about the Biden administration’s contempt for the rule of law.”

Trump on Trial: Judicial Excess, Partisan Bias

On September 26, one week before the civil action was set to open at trial, the judge in the case delivered a surprise ruling. Justice Arthur Engoron issued an order canceling Trump’s certification to do business in New York. The order stripped Trump of control of the iconic Trump Tower; of a family estate and golf club in Westchester County; and of 40 Wall Street in Lower Manhattan, a lucrative commercial property. At times it seems as if the entire Trump family is on trial. Trump’s two adult sons, Don Jr. and Eric, were called to the stand by the prosecution last week; his daughter Ivanka is slated to testify this week.

Feds Plan to Let Convicted Felons, Fraudsters, Perjurers Investigate Housing Discrimination

As part of the Biden administration’s governmentwide initiative to give criminals a second chance a federal agency plans to eliminate restrictions that prevent convicted felons from conducting investigations that often lead the Department of Justice (DOJ) to take legal action. It involves fair housing testers who help federal authorities gather evidence of bias and discrimination by going undercover in housing transactions that can expose wrongdoing. Technically, housing testers play a key role in government housing probes, and they are supposed to be carefully vetted.

But while they say things about protecting Israel, they’re frantically engaged in an effort to support Iran, who we know is trying to build a nuclear weapon.
