Snr Mechanical Engineer at Sasol
Purpose of Job
Utilise authoritative levels of experience in Mechanical engineering to manage and / or execute complex and / or specialised design, engineering, development, repair and/ or modification of mechanical equipment and plant.
This is performed in accordance with advanced engineering principles and standards to satisfy business requirements.
Coach and guide fellow team members, providing technical direction on engineering deliverables and risk decisions.Key Accountabilities
Capture, document and implement best practices.
Optimise mechanical engineering systems, tools and standards (own, local and international) for use in all maintenance repair and project activities.
Create, develop and update mechanical engineering systems, tools, specifications and standards.
Evaluate current mechanical engineering systems, identify weaknesses and provide corrective actions.
Develop fit for purpose technical solutions to restore pressure equipment integrity of aging plant.
Manage interfaces between other engineering disciplines, maintenance, projects and external technical community.
Perform detailed calculations to code requirements for new or service damaged equipment repairs, modifications and life extension studies.
Capture lessons learned in specifications, works instructions and procedures.
Advise on project execution strategies including contracting and selection of suppliers.
Ensure compliance with legal and safety requirements.
Ensure that deviation management is in place.
Identify deviations from legal requirements and develop corrective actions/solutions.
Ensure project success by adherence to cost, schedule and quality targets for project scope.
Ensure timely response to changes/technical queries.
Recommend mechanical engineering related concessions.
Develop advanced knowledge in defined fields of mechanical engineering.
Interpret and translate business requirements into an electrical engineering strategy to enable OME to safely meet production targets.
Translate OME project team strategy into team working model.
Manage and develop people in the team.
Facilitate knowledge sharing and innovation.
Ensure personal development plans are completed, implemented and tracked within applicable career path.
Notify/inform of changes in resourcing needs.
Be responsible for own as well as team's performance management system.

Purpose of Job
- Provide a continuous input into financial and business decision-making at tactical / operational level, the completion of financial accounting reports and the day-to-day execution of financial related activities, as well as ensuring the integrity of the General Ledger and Trial balance to ensure accurate and timely reporting on a monthly basis.
Key Accountabilities
- Timeous preparation of finance lease payment runPreparation of calculations for CPI rentals
- Preparation of monthly journals
- Preparation of calculations for volume related rentals
- Prepare Profit and Loss report on a monthly basis
- Prepare presentation of results for monthly exco meeting with explanations
- Prepare quarterly road levies calculations and ensure timeous submission to the relevant road agencies Road Levy Audit – Ensure audited during August every year
- Impairment calculations on group model ( November and May)
- OneStream implementation for Energy IFRS16 leases
- Review of quarterly contracts register prepared by business
- Assist with the monthly exco presentation
- Ensure the integrity of the GL accounts and the structure of the ledger
- Prepare monthly reconciliations/schedules for GL accounts under their control.
- Prepare of Monthly Income statements (Geldsake)
- Good understanding of SAP to ensure alignment with management reporting objectives and requirements.
- Timeous and accurate completion of monthly reporting on Onestream/HFM, including intercompany process.
- Technical issues timeously identified and actioned
Year End and Half year end Reporting
- Prepare CPI Remeasurement Calculation manual calc in Excel) with disclosures
- Prepare other manual lease calculations.
- Perform SOX testing during testing cycles for financial reporting and GL
- Rehabilitation Calculations for Retail & Commercial
- Update Rehab calcs for cycle 2 and 3
- Preparation of Stand-alone for Impairment calculations.
- Provide inputs into biannual impairment reviews for relevant CGU’s
- Ensure all GL reconciliations are performed and completed audit files are delivered for review.
Leases (currently 2) – Sasol Gas.
- Preparation of IFRS16 journals for Sasol Gas, check and post journal, confirm balances for month end close.
- HYE/YE disclosures & queries from reporting & auditors.
Other Activities during the year.
- Operational Excellence through Simplification, Identify improvements and changes required (Automation)
Governance and Compliance
- Maintain strong internal controls over decision making
- No material audit and SOX findings

Purpose of Job
Provide governance and expert support to control and instrumentation fraternity in areas of technology, project execution and commissioning.
This includes small project support i.e. scope/engineering reviews, technology selection, technical Quality Assurance / Quality Control (QA/QC), instrumentation/system installation and commissioning.
Lead and guide colleagues in terms of best practices and governance in the instrumentation & control and production fraternities to ensure plant availability and efficient operation.
Support radiation protection officer (RPO) and assistant radiation protection officer(ARPO) with activities and provide relevant governance in area.
Manage interfaces with various disciplines (mechanical, electrical etc.) within Sasol Secunda and other Sasol OMEs and with external entities e.g. service providers, government offices etc.Key Accountabilities
Broad base of instrumentation and control engineering knowledge and competence relating to general control and instrumentation technology and standards regarding:
Control and safety systems – DCS, PLC and ESD
