  • Guilty Gear Strive Version 1.41 patch notes, Team of 3 Mode released in new update

It’s already been three weeks since Guilty Gear Strive’s big Season 4 update dropped alongside Queen Dizzy, but that also brought a slew of unintended issues as well.

Arc System Works just dropped the Version 1.41 update to Strive with the patch notes to fix many of the problems and add a brand new way to play Guilty Gear too.

The new update that should now be available for all players provides fixes for Ky, Chipp, Potemkin, Faust, a bunch for Ramlethal, Leo, Goldlewis, Baiken, Bedman, and Dizzy.

The developers confirm, however, there are still more issues that’ll be addressed in a future update to be announced later.

On top of that, the new Team of 3 mode is also now a part of the base game after two beta trials.

This allows players to team up with two other partners and face off against other groups.

One person starts as the main with their character battling like a somewhat normal match while the other two can assist with various skills and attacks to turn Guilty Gear into a team fighter

Skill loadouts can be customized between 5 roles and 32 skills though there are pre-sets to choose from too.

    Training Mode

    • Added Burst Gauge Auto Recovery, 1P Burst Gauge, and 2P Burst Gauge options under the Psych Burst settings from the Training Mode menu, making it possible to set the gauge level in finer detail. The previous Psych Burst option has been removed.
    Other

    • Fixed minor issues.

    Battle Related

    • Updated the Battle Version from Ver. 4.00 to Ver. 4.01. This mainly consists of fixes for issues confirmed after the prior update. Please see below for details.

    • Changes to Battle Mechanics

    • All characters, including Potemkin and Nagoriyuki, can now air dash during the follow-up sequence after the homing jump on hit of Charged Dust Attack. This change is in line with the TEAM OF 3 mechanics, and not something intended to alter battle balance.

    Fixes for In-game Issues

System: Fixed an issue causing the increased attack and defense of a character in Positive Bonus, etc., not to affect the chip damage they dealt and received.

Ky: Fixed an issue of the cooldown time for repeated projectile use being briefer than intended for Ky’s Stun Edge, Aerial Stun Edge, and Charged Stun Edge under certain conditions.

    Chipp:

    • Fixed an issue of the game becoming temporarily unresponsive after using Chipp’s Tightrope Run upon round victory.

    • Fixed an issue of Chipp’s Banki Messai sometimes not connecting with all of the hits while Dizzy’s Ice Field is active.

    Potemkin:
    • Fixed an issue with the display order of the characters when Roman Canceling Potemkin’s Potemkin Buster at certain timings.

    Faust:

    • Fixed an issue of Faust’s Mini Faust not behaving as intended when hit with an attack mid-air.

    • Fixed an issue causing Wall Break to not trigger sometimes when the afro explosion hits an opponent stuck to the wall.

    Ramlethal:

    • Fixed an issue of the explosion triggering Guard Crush when the opponent does not block the sword from Ramlethal’s Bajoneto attacks.

    • Fixed an issue of the sword and explosion attacks from Ramlethal’s Bajoneto still triggering even when Ramlethal takes damage.

    • Fixed an issue of the swords gaining a collision pushbox under certain conditions during Ramlethal’s Calvados.

    Leo:

    • Fixed an issue in which Leo cannot cancel normal moves into certain special moves while in Brynhildr Stance.

    • Fixed an issue in which a special move input will receive priority instead even when the Overdrive input is performed correctly, when performing an Overdrive after a normal move while in Leo’s Brynhildr Stance at certain timings.

    Goldlewis:

    • Fixed an issue of the camera sometimes encountering issues when Wall Break is triggered with Goldlewis’s Skyfish under certain conditions.

    • Fixed an issue making it possible for the opponent to Psych Burst during the sequence, causing the game to then become unresponsive to inputs when Wall Break is triggered with Goldlewis’ Skyfish under certain conditions.

Baiken: Fixed an issue causing Baiken’s Kenjyu to sometimes gain an increased hit count.

Bedman?: Fixed an issue in which the attack would hit at a higher position than intended if performed at a certain altitude, when error 6E triggers mid-air for Bedman?’s call 4B9.

Dizzy: Fixed an issue causing Wall Break to not trigger sometimes when the attack from Dizzy’s Frozen state ending hits an opponent stuck to the wall.

We have confirmed the following additional issues as well, which will be addressed in a future update.

    • During Ramlethal’s S/HS attacks, under certain conditions the sword will sometimes face the opposite direction.

    • Jack-O’s Servant Shoot can sometimes be dash canceled even when not coming into contact with a servant.

    • After activating Dizzy’s Ice Field, moving at a certain timing will result in extremely high-speed movement.

    • When triggering wall stick under certain conditions, the attacking player’s Burst Gauge will recover.

    • Under certain conditions, the damage information in Training Mode will be displayed incorrectly.

    • Incorrect text in the Command List for Asuka’s Bit Shift Metron description.

    • When hitting Faust’s Afro with Hole in One! under certain conditions the collision will disappear, making it invisible.

    • When hitting Faust’s Mini Faust with Hole in One! under certain conditions, it will not bounce back on the stage corner.

    • When using Goldlewis’ Behemoth Typhoon, sometimes it will cancel into Behemoth Typhoon if HS is pressed twice at a certain timing even when only one half-circle is input.

We will make another announcement regarding when this fix will be implemented. We apologize to all our dedicated players for the inconvenience caused.

  • Mortal Kombat 1 players discover new special move doesn’t work as developers confirm they’ve temporarily disabled it

    It’s always Shujinko isn’t it

Mortal Kombat 1 just dropped Ghostface yesterday for Khaos Reigns expansion owners, but it looks like not everything in the new update is working according to plan.

Players quickly discovered that a particular special move did not appear to be working at all in MK1, and that’s exactly the case it seems.

The attack in question belongs to Shujinko though it’s not originally his, but rather Ghostface’s.

Shujinko’s Kameo assist is unique because it can “steal” specific moves from the opponent in MK1 as a reference to his Mortal Kombat: Deception origins as one who can master all styles — and he funnily also steals the Scream slasher’s mask .

This has led to problems in the past, and it seems that’s happened again.

LUX|SlikBeatz took to social media after messing around with new character and discovering the “Borrow: Psychotic Dive to Prone Stab” didn’t appear to function, and he wasn’t alone with others noting they’d get the flip kick or teleport stab every time instead.

The official Mortal Kombat account actually responded and confirmed they “temporarily deactivated” the move while they work on a fix though it’s not clear what the issue was to begin with.

Taking a certain move out of a fighting game that isn’t working right is something we generally don’t tend to see very often if ever really.

It’s a bit reminiscent of another Warner Bros. fighter when MultiVersus removed Iron Giant from the game entirely for multiple days because he was too broken though this case obviously isn’t as extreme.

While doing so probably wouldn’t work out very well for major attacks and characters, temporarily taking out one special move from an assist is an interesting way to approach hot-fixing a fighting game in the modern era.

As mentioned above, this isn’t the first time Shujinko has presented problems in MK1 that needed to be addressed.

Weeks after the game released, players discovered a game-breaking glitch in which Shujinko could simply hit General Shao and cause him to lose his ax plus all special moves for the rest of a match.

NetherRealm Studios actually had to ban Shujinko from being picked against Shao for the start of the MK Pro Kompetition until a fix could be implemented.

There’s no official word on when the stolen Ghostface move will be available or if it may be already, but hopefully a quick solution is found.

  • 27 horrifying stabs… this Ghostface Brutality in Mortal Kombat 1 is hard to watch all the way through

Those who tend to watch and play Mortal Kombat are surely more likely to laugh at over the top violence and gore than to be put off by it, but even the most seasoned Kombat vets may find it hard to watch one of Mortal Kombat 1’s newest Brutality additions.

The big news in the NetherRealm right now is that DLC guest Ghostface is finally available in Mortal Kombat 1, and players are excitedly exploring the Woodsboro killer here on his first day in MK1. We’ve found a few of his Brutalities posted about X, one of which is called “A Bit Mad,” and sees the victim stabbed an unholy 27 times in rapid succession.

Our first viewing of A Bit Mad sent us through a range of emotions. The excitement of unexpectedly triggering a Brutality is always fun, and seeing Sub-Zero get stabbed a good 10 or so times in the torso still kept us in that “violence is fun when it’s in MK” zone.

When the stab count continued on, however, and reached 15, then 20, then 25, and finally made it to a whopping 27 count, laughs and smiles admittedly turned to frowns of uncertain disgust and thoughts of human depravity.

This sequence is so visceral (perhaps in more than one sense of the term) and truly puts the “brutal” in Brutality. There are so many of these sudden kill sequences in Mortal Kombat now that it’s hard to say that this one stands out above all others as the most painful to watch, but it’s definitely up there with the worst (and we mean that in a good way… we think) of them.:

For comparison’s sake (and because we’re excited to share all the new Ghostface content we can) here are three other Brutalities from the character shared by MK Addict on X. They too involve plenty of stabbing and blood spurts, but neither come close (in our humble opinion) to the first on the “gut wrenching” scale:

For more recently unveiled details regarding the new DLC roster member, be sure to check out Ghostface’s alternate costumes and mask gear as well as his unmasked face.

  • Mortal Kombat 2025 receives ‘R’ rating, more classic characters, and returning fan-favorites

The sequel to the 2021 Mortal Kombat film is set to drop in late 2025, and we’re getting bits and pieces of exciting new information as cast members, characters, and a rating have been revealed.

Surprising no one, the MPA has given the film an “R” rating for “strong bloody violence and gore, and language.” Though this may seem par for the course, the description contains an important distinction from the previous film, one that proved to be a hang up for more hardcore fans of Mortal Kombat. You’ll find out what it is below, along with a few other notable points we’ve found that are increasing our excitement for the movie. Spoilers ahead for the 2021 Mortal Kombat film.

Though fans clearly appreciated the 2021 film enough to spawn a sequel, they were not without their gripes. One of these was the fact that, though violent enough for an R-rating, one could argue it did not do the source material justice in the way of gross out gore.

Yes, some heads got smashed and some souls got sucked, but we’ve come to expect visuals that force us to laugh because we’d otherwise have to cry (or throw up), and the first film certainly didn’t go that hard.

The 2021 prequel received its rating for “strong bloody violence and language throughout, and some crude references,” which you’ll notice is a list with the term “gore” conspicuously absent.

This updated rating suggests returning director, Simon McQuoid, and his team may have heard audience cries and made corrections that will make fans feel more at home. This includes having an actual tournament this time around, as the previous film only served to set up for the organized competition.

The presence of Cole Young, an entirely new character set in the protagonist role, has been controversial given there are so many beloved franchise figures fighting for screen time.

The character is now established and we’re sure he’ll continue to play a prominent role, but fingers are crossed it’s done in a way that doesn’t make us feel like beloved mainstays had to sacrifice too much spotlight to do so.

Lewis Tan is slated to reprise his role as the MMA fighter, but perhaps this time the central focus will shift to hone more on established MK characters like Karl Urban’s Johnny Cage, Hiroyuki Sanada’s Scorpion, or even Josh Lawson’s Kano.

The latter of those, Lawson, actually saw his character killed off in the first film. Kano proved to be a fan favorite in Mortal Kombat 2021 thanks to his charismatic and crude commentary throughout, and so many were sad to see who ended up becoming their favorite character fall to a Fatality.

Mortal Kombat has never taken death all that seriously, of course, and a closer look at the film’s developing IMDB page bills Lawson as the one-eyed leader of the Black Dragon Clan once again. It could be that he pops up only in a dream or flashback sequence, but our hopes are that he’ll be revived for a full performance.

Josh Lawson isn’t the only cast member apparently coming back after playing a character who was killed. Max Huang is reportedly returning to portray Kung Lao despite having his soul forcibly removed from his body by Shang Tsung in movie 1, for instance.

New characters who didn’t appear in the first film include Sindel (Ana Thu Nguyen), Baraka (CJ Bloomfield), Kitana (Adeline Rudolph) and Quan-Chi (Damon Herriman).

One of the main antagonists of the first film was Joe Taslim’s Sub-Zero, who terrorized team good guys throughout the course of the story. Now there is famously more than one Sub-Zero in MK lore as the first, whose name is Bi-Han, is much more of a bad guy than his younger brother, Kuai Liang.

As the legend goes, Bi-Han is killed by Scorpion during the events of the first MK game, but returns in Mortal Kombat 2 and beyond as the spectral ninja wraith: Noob Saibot. Cast lists for the upcoming movie bill Taslim as both “Bi-Han” and “Noob Saibot,” suggesting that the character will be reborn as the shadowy ninja.

We do note that, thus far, there does not seem to be another Sub-Zero amid the cast, so the current bet is that we won’t be seeing Kuai Liang quite yet.

Are you excited for this incoming Mortal Kombat movie, especially as we learn more and more about what’s in store? Let us know what you’re most (or least) looking forward to when it releases around Halloween 2025 in the comments below.

  • Mortal Kombat 1 patch notes visual guide shows off latest changes made in the new Ghostface update

The latest major update for Mortal Kombat 1: Khaos Reigns is here, and with it comes a lot of new content for fans to sink their teeth into. Its biggest draw is easily the newest DLC character, Scream’s own Ghostface, but on top of that we’ve also seen the addition of new costumes, as well as more balance changes.

There’s a lot to get to here, and as a means of making things easier to follow and more succinct, Rooflemonger has put together a fresh visual guide to the new Mortal Kombat 1: Khaos Reigns patch notes that showcases everything that has been added and changed.

Rooflemonger kicks things off by listing the additional content that has been added to Mortal Kombat 1 with this update. We have Ghostface himself, of course, as well as classic costumes for various fighters.

In addition to this, there are some festive Christmas-themed costumes that have had compatibility implementations made for, however, these alternate skins are not yet available in the in-game store and have instead likely been discovered by way of data mining from the community.

For something more tangible, though, Roof delves into the latest balance changes and demonstrates each one so you can see what it actually does in real time. Not every character received balance changes in this update, but there are 10 main roster fighters and four Kameo fighters that did.

Among the significant balance changes here we see one made to Homelander. His forward + 4 is now a mid instead of a low, which means it can now be stand blocked and isn’t as insanely strong as it once was (though it’s still a great tool).

Sub-Zero also received some buffs this time around, which many fans should be pleased to hear. His ice clones now last slightly longer on screen (both regular and enhanced), and his slide now has an option that passes through the opponent to the other side which allows him to set up some juggles into his ice clones for combo extension.

There’s quite a bit more to see here, so be sure to check out Rooflemonger’s full Mortal Kombat 1 Ghostface patch notes visual guide below to catch everything.

  • Ganondorf becomes hilariously absurd with his own Limit Break mechanic in Super Smash Bros. Ultimate

Ganondorf is widely considered to be the worst character in Super Smash Bros. Ultimate, which is really saying something considering that there are 86 playable characters. Over a year ago, Vishera decided to release a mod to help Ganondorf out a little.

As seen in a previous preview, Ganondorf was given Cloud’s Limit Break mechanic. However, it seems that Ganondorf’s usage of the Limit Break really emphasizes his raw power.

Just like with Cloud, Limit Break makes it so that all of Ganondorf’s specials get powered up. Of course, using an empowered special results in Ganondorf spending all of his meter, resulting in him having to recharge it all over again.

With that in mind, it definitely seems like it’s worth it to use the Limit Break for offensive purposes. Ganondorf’s attacks become so powerful that he’s basically able to KO an opponent with just one hit.

For example, Ganondorf’s grounded down special has him smashing the ground with his fist, which then unleashes massive amounts of energy. The resulting beam takes up more than half the stage.

Not only do Ganondorf’s attacks becoming absurdly powerful, but they’re also extremely difficult to dodge. Needless to say, this mod isn’t intended to make Ganondorf more balanced with the rest of the roster, but is clearly meant to elevate him to the best character in the game.

  • Apparent Mortal Kombat 1 cheater is stealing players’ points online in one of the most frustrating ways possible

Playing fighting games online in ranked modes is already stressful and frustrating enough as is, but when people go out of their way to rig the system in their favor, it can be maddening even to simply watch.

That seems to be the case amid Kombat League in Mortal Kombat 1 right now, as extremely questionable footage of a particular player apparently abusing a lag switch has surfaced. Continue on to see it and decide for yourself if nefarious acts are indeed going on.

The footage below was posted by MKJavier on Sunday, and depicts his bout with a Shang Tsung competitor who goes by the name “TrustedKeviN.” The match flows on flawlessly until Javier lands the beginnings of a combo, at which point game-halting lag makes continuing offense impossible.

Things suddenly continue to flow fine once again, but each and every time Javier scores an opening, the action slows way down. You can see it all in the embed here, but you may want to take some blood pressure medication first:

Thanks to the expedited processing of information that comes with social media, the community is already responding to this suspicious activity. NetherRealm Studios Community Manager, Tyler Lansdown, responded Monday morning to the post by saying “Forwarded on,” and so we have confirmation that NetherRealm Studios is aware of this.

Others claimed that this TrustedKeviN was actually a second account of a known cheater named BriXsuS, who climbed to the very top of the Kombat League ladder back in June. While we can’t fully confirm or deny that this is the same player, they do both use Shang Tsung and appear to cheat in very similar ways:

Unsavory online gameplay is unfortunately not restricted to Mortal Kombat alone as we recall the relatively recent incident during the Capcom Pro Tour in which one of the competitors seemed to be using scripts that would automatically make their character perform perfectly in certain situations.

  • Street Fighter 6 X Destiny 2 crossover now available to throw Hadokens at aliens and wear Blanka’s head but it’ll cost you

Capcom certainly does not shy away from going in on collaborations with their Street Fighter characters / brand, and that’s interestingly branching out to more western game developers now too.

The previously announced Street Fighter 6 X Destiny 2 crossover event is now available in the live-service shooter, and it offers more than just skins for your Ghosts.

Destiny’s in-game shop has been updated with a small collection of Street Fighter items to accessorize your Guardians and even give them some new attacks.

As was initially shown, there’s three premium Ghost skins to dress up your little robo partner as Ryu, Chun-Li and Cammy.

Beyond that there’s a metal Blanka helmet ornament for every class to let you walk around as the electric beast man in cybernetic form.

    Street Fighter 6 X Destiny 2 image #1

    Street Fighter 6 X Destiny 2 image #2

And perhaps the coolest additions are the new Finishers allowing you to perform the Hadoken, Lightning Kick or Spinning Bird Kick.

These attacks aren’t just taunts or for show but are special finishing moves on enemies with low health, so you can knock aliens out with your fireball game.

Unsurprisingly, however, all of this premium content will cost you a pretty amount of Silver to acquire.

The Blanka helmet is 800 Silver, the complete Street Fighter Moveset Bundle 2,700 is Silver, and the World Warrior Collection Ghosts is 2,100 Silver.

With 100 Silver basically equating to $1 USD, that prices them around $8, $27 and $21 to get everything, but it looks like you can pick up individual items for cheaper if you just want one or two things.

We’ve already seen Street Fighter cross over with the likes of Fortnite and PUBG: Battlegrounds in the past, so the world warriors being a part of shooter games is nothing new though we’re interested to see what other avenues they branch out to next.

  • Klassic Mortal Kombat 2 skins for Mileena, Kitana and Tanya have arrived in Mortal Kombat 1, here’s all the colors for each

Tanya wasn’t even in MK2 though

Mortal Kombat 1 just released Ghostface from Scream as the latest DLC character today for Khaos Reigns expansion owners, and he didn’t come empty-handed for longtime fans of the fighting game franchise.

NetherRealm Studios also added a new round of klassic skins to MK1’s in-game store including Mortal Kombat 2 costumes for Kitana, Mileena and Tanya (though technically only two of them were in that game).

Mileena has been probably the most popular character in terms of premium skins outside of Scorpion and Sub-Zero since she also finally received her Mortal Kombat Deception outfit last month, but it is nice to see Tanya get some more love too in these.

Kitana and Mileena both offer updated appearances on their original MK2 designs that feature much more detail and color separation across the princesses’ headband, mask, leotard, gloves and boots.

So they’re not exactly the same as their simpler origins with mostly solid colors, but they do a good job giving off the same sort of vibes mostly.

Tanya’s is definitely the most interesting, however, in part because she wasn’t even around in Mortal Kombat 2.

Mortal Kombat 4 marked her official debut as a playable fighter, but this MK2 costume doesn’t really look much like what she wore back then.

She’s missing the original black design on her chest as well as her boots with a different kind of top, and she didn’t wear full long gloves then either.

The closest comparison is probably Tanya’s alternate costume from the MK Deception and Armageddon days though they still aren’t all that similar.

So doing this is a bit odd instead of just giving her the MK4 outfit.

It seems this may be more of a “what if” take on what Tanya could have looked like in MK2 taking on similar motifs to Kitana, Mileena and Jade.

The overall costume design is the same as the princesses here except she’s missing the headband and mask, which have never really been her thing anyway.

Each Mortal Kombat 2 costume is priced at 500 Dragon Krystals, which equates to $5 USD apiece.

They all come with six different color palettes plus a Legendary gear item for their weapons of choice.

The store update also added more “what if” sorts of skins by giving Rain and Ermac designs based on the 1995 Mortal Kombat film too that we’ll take a closer look at shortly.

You can check out all of the different color variants for Kitana, Mileena and Tanya below.
