  • What fighting game announcements are coming at New York Comic Con?





    None







    The fighting game community has entered its next generation with the launch of titles like Street Fighter 6, Mortal Kombat 1 and more on the horizon, which means we’ve got a lot of reveals coming in our near and extended future.






    New York Comic Con 2023 is set to start up tomorrow, October 12, where it seems there will be at least some announcements in store for the FGC.









    A few weeks ago, NetherRealm Studios Creative Director Ed Boon was teasing something on Twitter for Mortal Kombat 1.


    The series co-creator later clarified that an Omni-Man gameplay trailer will not be present at NYCC, but he put up a new post today stating “but that’s not to say we are showing nothing.”




    Taking a look at the schedule, there’s no actual Mortal Kombat or NRS panel at the convention this weekend, so that kinda dashes our initial thoughts of a new skin pack for MK1 like we saw with Jean-Claude Van Damme or the movie costumes for Mortal Kombat 11.


    Instead, we’ve got our eyes on the “Invincible & The Walking Dead Celebrate 20 Years” panel with Robert Kirkman on Saturday, October 14, at 12:15 p.m. ET.


    Boon may have said they won’t have a gameplay trailer for Omni-Man, but he didn’t say anything about a teaser with perhaps one of his versus intros or something.


    SNK is going to be there as well where they’re going to kick off their “SNK Universe Project” that aims to branch out into new media and will have a special movie to show at the Shueisha XR booth at NYCC.



    Other than that, however, it doesn’t appear that Capcom, Bandai Namco nor Arc System Works is going to have an official presence at NYCC though they have had stuff to show there in years past.


    It’s probably not fighting game related, but Dragon Ball is also having a special panel on Thursday at 12:45 p.m. ET where they are promising a “mysterious new trailer” of some sort.


    There will be tournaments for Street Fighter 6, MK1 and Tekken 7 among many others so maybe there will be a surprise there even if we’re kinda doubting it at this point.


    New York Comic Con is scheduled to take place October 12–15 at the Javits Center in Manhattan, New York City.

    Ashley Tisdale recently delighted fans with a mini Disney Channel reunion as she posted a picture with her former The Suite Life of Zack & Cody co-star Dylan Sprouse. The pair were all smiles as they posed for a photo at a Rams game in California. Tisdale shared the picture on her Instagram Story, referring to Dylan as her “little brother.” The reunion also included Dylan’s wife, Barbara Palvin, as they celebrated her birthday together.

    However, despite the heartwarming reunion, fans shouldn’t expect a revival of The Suite Life of Zack & Cody. Cole Sprouse, Dylan’s twin brother and co-star on the show, explained on The Tonight Show in 2020 why he thinks a revival wouldn’t be a good idea. He believed that reviving the show could potentially ruin people’s fond memories of it and that the cast would not be in the same headspace to recreate the original feeling.

    Although a revival may not be happening, fans of the show can still enjoy some behind-the-scenes secrets. For instance, the names of the Martin twins, Zack and Cody, were initially considered to be Dylan and Cole. However, the creators ultimately decided to give them different names. Additionally, Ashley Tisdale auditioned for the role of London Tipton, but ended up portraying Maddie instead. Brenda Song also auditioned for Maddie, but the casting directors decided to switch their roles.

    Other interesting tidbits include Dylan and Cole’s similarity to their characters, Ashley dyeing her hair blonde for the show, and awkward kissing moments between the cast members during filming. It’s evident that The Suite Life of Zack & Cody has left a lasting impact on both the cast and fans alike.

    In conclusion, while fans may be excited about reunions and behind-the-scenes secrets, a revival of The Suite Life of Zack & Cody is unlikely to happen. Nonetheless, the memories and impact of the show continue to resonate with fans to this day.

  • The Street Fighter Steel Sessions rap album actually hits hard

    Street Fighter and fighting games in general have been intrinsically linked to hip hop for basically three decades now, and Capcom is pushing hard into that history for Street Fighter 6.






    The Street Fighter X NERDS Clothing Steel Sessions rap album recently dropped featuring over a dozen artists, and it actually hits pretty hard.









    While not every track is dedicated directly to the FGC and the games themselves, there are plenty that lean into theme like Evil Ryu, No E. Honda’s, Violent Ken, I Got Next, and Street Fighting — plus some deeper cuts like Prada Mama name dropping Pullum Purna from Street Fighter EX.


    From an initial listen, our current favorites are probably Perfect, GG, Thru Harlem, Prada Purna and Sonic Boom though there’s a lot of good flow and clever licks throughout the whole thing.



    Pretty much all of the samples used throughout the album only come from Street Fighter 2, which is not surprising, but maybe a bit disappointing since it would have been nice to hear some Street Fighter 3 and Street Fighter 4 love too.


    The artists featured on the album includes HipHopGamer, Dave East, Black Soprano Family, D-Block, Charlie Clips, Royce Da 5’9″, Courtney Bell, Nino Man, Smoke DZA, Real.Novus, Prada Mama, Nym Lo, DNA, Al-Doe, Oswin Benjamin, Iman Nunez, Papoose, Grafh, Mega Ran and Dezzy Yates.


    This big collaboration can be streamed on Apple Music, Spotify, YouTube, Soundcloud, Tidal, Deezer, Pandora and Amazon Music.

  • Mortal Kombat 1 skit by Cilvanis hilariously explains how Kameo characters get called into the fight

    The new mechanic introduced in Mortal Kombat 1 is the Kameo system. After selecting their point character, players must select a Kameo to assist them on command before every match.






    A few weeks back, Cilvanis released a skit that demonstrates what it’s like fighting against an opponent in Mortal Kombat 1. Needless to say, the Kameo system proved to be a major part of the hilarity.









    The fight started off with Kenshi taking a lead over Fire God Liu Kang. Scorpion would suddenly appeared on the scene after Liu Kang suspiciously reached into his pocket.


    Since Kenshi is blind, he was having a difficult time figuring out what was happening. After getting jumped multiple times, Kenshi was eventually able to reveal the cell phone in Liu Kang’s pocket.


    Understanding the rules better, Kenshi then proceeded to call his own Kameo. However, this scene would eventually lead into a unique type of Fatality instead.

  • Ivychan’s cosplay has her taking on some of the most risqué of poses for Cammy throughout multiple iterations

    Super Street Fighter 2: The New Challengers was released into the arcades on September 10, 1993 and September 11, 1993 in Japan and North America respectively. It was during this game that Cammy White, a “19-year-old female special forces agent from England with a mysterious past tied to M. Bison,” made her debut video game appearance.






    Compared to the other World Warriors that made their debut appearance in Super Street Fighter 2: The New Challengers (Fei Long, T. Hawk, and Dee Jay), Cammy is clearly the most popular as she’s the only character that returned for all of Street Fighter 4, Street Fighter 5, and Street Fighter 6.









    Needless to say, Cammy White also happens to be a popular character among cosplayers that are bold enough to portray her. We recently came across Ivychan’s Instagram page where she has cosplayed as various iterations of Cammy.


    Cammy’s most iconic appearance is how she appeared in Super Street Fighter 2: The New Challengers and Street Fighter 4. By this point in Cammy’s life, she is working as a Delta Red special agent to take down Shadaloo. She’s wearing a green thong leotard, red gauntlets, a red beret, red socks, and black boots. Additionally, camouflage paint has been plastered on Cammy’s legs.


    It’s said that Cammy prefers the leotard due to the optimal speed, mobility, and flexibility it provides her. Indeed, Cammy is typically known for having above average speed and mobility within every Street Fighter title that she’s been playable in.






    Before joining Delta Red, Cammy actually worked as an assassin for Shadaloo. Back then, Cammy was simply known as “Killer Bee.”


    While operating as Killer Bee, Cammy wears a light blue thong leotard, a small yellow tie attached to her outfit’s turtleneck, a blue garrison cap, brown boots, and red gauntlets. Light blue paint is also present on Cammy’s legs.






    One of Cammy’s more interesting alternate costumes in Street Fighter 4 had her dressed up similarly to M. Bison. Had M. Bison got his way, Cammy would’ve become a host for M. Bison’s will after it was projected that the usage of Psycho Power would eventually destroy M. Bison’s body.


    Of course, it should be noted that Ivychan added a cape to the costume for extra flair.






    Finally, Cammy’s appearance takes a drastic change in Street Fighter 6. Here, she wears a dark blue sports bra and yoga pants.


    Fans that look real closely should be able to spot the Delta Red triangle emblem pinned at the front of Cammy’s leather jacket. The England flag is prominent at the back of this jacket.

  • How does one of the highest ranked A.K.I. players stack up against Tokido and Daigo in Street Fighter 6?

    A.K.I. is the latest combatant to join Street Fighter 6’s roster. However, initial impressions of the character from a variety of top players suggest that A.K.I. may be a low tier in the current meta.






    Even BST|Daigo’s impressions of A.K.I. paint her as being definitely not strong, but fun. Unsurprisingly, it seems that Daigo intends to stick with Ken in Street Fighter 6.









    Though Saishunkan|Nemo very recently climbed to the highest MR with A.K.I. in Street Fighter 6, it wasn’t long ago that Hikaru was the highest ranked A.K.I. user. In a couple of videos uploaded by YogaFlame24, Hikaru recently went up against Rohto|Tokido and Daigo, both using Ken.


    In the latest video, Hikaru is shown to have around 2,107 MR. As such, he’s being matched up against Tokido and Daigo since they’re both within the region and have similar MR.


    While A.K.I. has some rather effective anti-fireball tools at her disposal, it’s sometimes clear that she has difficulty dealing with Ken’s superior buttons. A.K.I. is also somewhat weak defensively, so it can be a challenge to escape the corner against Ken.
