    Street Fighter 6 was released over four months ago. Since then, we’ve had Rashid and A.K.I. join the roster as DLC fighters, minor patches pushed, a number of tournaments take place, and plenty of online clips surface.






    As such, there have been numerous moments throughout Street Fighter 6’s lifespan so far that have caused fans to either laugh hysterically or give a bewildered look in confusion. In a recent video upload, Xuses has documented some of these situations that are sure to get a reaction out of anybody.









    Whether you love them or hate them, throw loops are currently a big part of Street Fighter 6’s meta. Of course, this means that there will be a few clips featuring opponents getting thrown over and over again until their health bars have been depleted.


    When Rashid was first released, a weird glitch allowed Rashid to extend the duration of his Ysaar Level 2 Super — giant tornado projectile — almost indefinitely. Though Capcom has since patched that phenomenon, it created some outrageous clips for the time that it was still present in the game.


    There are also a number of clips featuring perfect rounds seen in the video. Who could forget the time that iDom achieved a perfect against a JP user 57 seconds into the round?

  • Capcom reveals in-development concept art and storyboard for perhaps the most iconic opening animation in fighting games

    No matter how much time passes, the Street Fighter 2 games remain arguably the most recognizable and referenced titles in the genre, and that goes beyond just the gameplay.






    Capcom recently shared some in-development concept art and the storyboard for the opening of Super Street Fighter 2: the New Challengers to celebrate the game’s 30th anniversary since first releasing in the arcades.









    Although it’s technically one of the simplest intros in the franchise, you can see how much work went into putting together an animation of Ryu standing there bouncing in his idle stance before tossing his Hadoken.


    While seeing the final or near final art for what would be converted into the game is cool, it’s even more interesting looking at the storyboard going step by step through what the developers wanted to show.

    They make specific note for Ryu’s footwork and the up and down motion as well as how they wanted the transition to happen with the Super appearing on screen followed by the SF2 logo.


    If you’re curious who’s responsible for the design, that credit appears to go to Shoei Okano, who worked on a good chunk of the key art for SF2 as well as other titles like Bionic Commando, Street Fighter Alpha 3 and Capcom vs. SNK.


    And over 30 years later, the Super Street Fighter 2 opening still looks amazing and so impressive for 1993 only to add even more with Turbo after that.

  • Insightful Street Fighter 6 charts reveals the spread for ranked players and just how real the Platinum 1 wall is

    The ranking system in Street Fighter 6 is a fair bit different from those in past titles, so it’s interesting to see how the players have spread out online now that the game has been out for over four months now.






    That’s what AlietteFaye apparently decided to do by creating a handlful of charts / infographics showcasing some different aspects of player distribution in SF6.









    Starting out from the widest overview, it appears that Platinum is currently the most populated rank in the game taking up 23.4% of everyone, which is almost double that of the people in Iron and Bronze combined.


    Interestingly, the second highest isn’t gold but rather Silver while Rookie is the second lowest at only 6.29%.




    There’s unsurprisingly a big drop off too for the highest ranks in Diamond and Master with less than 4% total making it to the secondary rating system at all.


    AlietteFaye broke this down further to look at the percentages for every singular ranking level to get to the real nitty gritty of where people are at.


    The Platinum 1 wall is apparently very real considering it’s the most populated ranking level by almost double the second highest with slightly over 10% of players / characters there right now.




    It makes sense given the steeper climb in League Points needed to level up starting in Platinum along with how many people may have been put there from their placement matches and never really made it beyond.


    The rarest rank in the whole game is actually Diamond 5, so it seems most players who reach that point have fought through to make Master, which is kinda cool to see.


    If you need a bit of an ego boost, the streamer also calculated the rank percentiles as well.


    Those who’ve managed to reach at least Gold 2 are higher than more than half of the players while Platinum 2 is in the top 25%.




    Then you’ve got the crazy dedicated .13% of players who’ve reached at least 1,800 MR.


    Speaking of, there’s another chart from AlietteFaye that shows the Master Rating Distribution as well that reveals most are within the 1400–1500 MR range.


    And then you have the sole person to reach 2,300 MR thus far legitimately in Moke.




    It is important to note that these numbers aren’t going to be exact for player counts specifically because SF6 ranks users per character, so many people are going to be in the stats multiple times (though there’s little to do about that at the moment).


    And don’t put too much stocks in these ranks personally, it’s not about how high you can reach quickly, but learning, growing and trying out new things on the endless path of a world warrior.


    I’m not sure what it is, but I’ve also personally found SF6’s ranked mode to be noticeably less stressful than it was in Street Fighter 5, which has made it easier to keep grinding.

  • Mortal Kombat 1 can take up a bunch of extra hard drive space just for crash reports

    Mortal Kombat 1 doesn’t really appear to be the most stable fighting game to release in recent times, and that seems especially true for the PC version.






    Players on Steam are reporting that MK1 can take up potentially a ton of extra storage space on their computers just for crash reports.









    Although it was apparently first pointed out a while back, MK1’s storage issue is currently garnering a lot more attention with many more players revealing how they’ve been impacted after being made aware of it.


    Whenever the game crashes on PC, the program reportedly creates an automatic report that can be 1 GB in size or even larger, which adds up really quickly.



    Some are even claiming they’ve lost upwards of 45 GB or even 60 GB of space on their hard drives, and that’s pretty absurd for a fighting game that asks you to free up 100 GB for the regular install.


    Affected users can reportedly find the files by heading to the Crashes folder on their PC at this location: “C:\Users\[UserName]\AppData\Local\MK12\Saved\Steam\Crashes” though there may be more stored at “C:\Users\[UserName]\AppData\Local\CrashDumps” as well.




    As far as we are aware, deleting these crash reports doesn’t have negative impacts on the game or PC.


    WB Games Community Manager Cory Thalion hopped into the thread to say the issue has been reported back to the team and is being looked into as well as some of the other problems facing the PC version specifically like stuttering.



    This of course shouldn’t be affecting console users, but there’s still other problems with MK1 that need to ironed out overall like Sindel’s basically inescabable touch of death combo and Shujinko breaking the game.


    Until a fix is in place, it’s probably best to keep a close eye on that crash folder to make sure it doesn’t eat up your remaining hard drive space.
