  • Capcom announces that MR has been reset and Phase 2 of Master League in Street Fighter 6 has begun

    Just last night, it was announced by Capcom that Master Rate (abbreviated as MR) will be reset at midnight. November 1, 2023 will be the start of Phase 2 of the Master League for Street Fighter 6.






    As such, an update for Street Fighter 6 is now downloadable. The Steam version of the Street Fighter 6 update is said to be about 364 MB in size.









    Indeed, it’s clear that the MR for Master League players has been reset. Players are given a prompt indicating that the next phase is slated to span from November 1, 2023 and last until February 1, 2024.


    It’s once again been emphasized on the official Street Fighter Twitter account that each Master League Phase will go for three months. After the appointed time on February 1, 2024, Phase 3 of the Master League for Street Fighter 6 will begin and last for three months.


    Of course, it should be noted that although MR for Master League players have been reset, everyone has retained their League Points (abbreviated as LP). Even those still in Master League will still keep all the League Points that they’ve earned.


    By the end of Phase 1 of the Master League, Moke ended up collecting the most MR. He ended the phase with 2,333 MR.


    HibikiTheBeast, Fenritti, BonchanRB, and CFN Good ended up taking second, third, fourth, and fifth place respectively. Of these five players, CFN Good was the only non-Japanese player.


    Now that Phase 2 has begun, BananaKen is currently in the lead with the most MR at the time of writing this. He currently has 1,847 MR. Of course, FChampryan, IBSG_Kakeru, Hurricane, and KUSANAGI aren’t far behind as they all currently have 1,770 MR or more.

  • Sega vs. Capcom fan project looks to be making impressive progress in new showcase

    Outside the realm of Super Smash Bros. and Project X Zone, we haven’t had many opportunities to see Capcom and Sega characters go head to head, but there’s plenty of fans out there of both developers who would like to see that changed.






    One such person has been attempting to make that an unofficial reality with madxruler recently showing off the progress being made in their Sega vs. Capcom: The Next Level fan project.









    Although it’s not exactly a bombastic trailer, the new update footage for Sega vs. Capcom is looking pretty promising with showing off some new menus and UI as well as a cool training stage out in space.


    The new video focuses on quite a few nice looking attacks from Sonic the Hedgehog comboing off on Mega Man X, as well as other animations for Morrigan, Alien vs. Predator’s Linn Kurosawa, Streets of Rage’s Axel, Skies of Arcadia’s Vyse, Virtua Fighter’s Akira, and Rival Schools’ Batsu.



    First teased back in early 2021, Sega vs. Capcom is being built in the Ikemen-Go open source fighting game engine and has been making steady progress the past few years including the use of some fairly impressive original sprites / models.


    As far as we can tell right now, there’s no real way for the public to try out the fan fighting game, but hopefully we’ll get to someday in the near future.



    Capcom themselves do have an unannounced major project coming in the next few months, but we kinda doubt it’d be a dream fighter like this.

  • Japanese pro Fuudo wears cool Dee Jay costume for Halloween after winning big Street Fighter 6 tournament with the character

    It’s finally that time of year again where everyone can basically costume up as basically whatever the hell they want, and it’s always fun to see what some of those in the fighting game community come up with.






    Longtime Japanese pro BST|Fuudo apparently decided he wanted to be Dee Jay this year after winning a big Street Fighter 6 tournament with the character this past weekend.









    Although he doesn’t have the Maximum chain or blinged out headphones, Fuudo was able to get surprisingly close to Dee Jay’s SF6 outfit with what he could probably find at local stores and online — including the maracas.


    I’m also pretty sure I have the exact same gloves for an old Akihiko cosplay except they’re red, but that’s neither here nor there.



    Just a few days ago, Fuudo also won the absolutely stacked Capcom Pro Tour World Warrior Japan #5 event where over 440 players signed up.


    He had to defeat the likes of GG|Moke, Ibushigin|Yanai, SNB|Yamaguchi, KEI.B and finally WRZT|Nemo in grand finals where he was on absolute fire.



    This isn’t the first SF6 costume of note we’ve seen recently either with AEW star Kenny Omega cosplaying his main Manon at his latest match too.
