  • The only known instances in which Masahiro Sakurai considered real life people as playable characters for Super Smash Bros.

Looking back, the journey that resulted in 86 characters in Super Smash Bros. Ultimate was a crazy one. Along the way, there were various concepts that were considered and scrapped by series director Masahiro Sakurai. Needless to say, the cast for Super Smash Bros. Ultimate might’ve looked very different had Sakurai’s decisions diverged in other directions for many of these circumstances.

For a long time, Sakurai has been adamant that only characters with origins tied directly to video games would ever be considered for Super Smash Bros. However, it turns out this hasn’t always been the case. There was a time in which Sakurai very briefly thought about including people from real life on the character select screen.

There can be no doubt that the contributions made by Reggie Fils-Aime, Shigeru Miyamoto, and Satoru Iwata of Nintendo have had considerable impacts on the gaming industry. Still, it’s a bit bizarre to think that Sakurai once actually considered all three of these individuals for spots on Super Smash Bros. 4’s roster.

“I don’t think the inclusion of these characters would be very interesting to a wide audience. For the amount of effort involved, I would actually prefer to add another roster character.” — Masahiro Sakurai

It’s believed that this was only a brief consideration as Sakurai decided against the idea for multiple reasons. Since then, the Super Smash Bros. series has only enlisted characters with origins tied to video games.

“I don’t think the inclusion of these characters would be very interesting to a wide audience,” said Sakurai of the idea of adding Reggie Fils-Aime, Shigeru Miyamoto, and Satoru Iwata to Super Smash Bros. “For the amount of effort involved, I would actually prefer to add another roster character. As it takes a lot of work to add a character to the game, it’s not a decision that can be taken lightly.”

Funnily enough, there are apparently plenty of fans out there that still want characters that don’t necessarily hail directly from video games to be playable in Super Smash Bros. According to Sakurai, there have been plenty of requests submitted by fans that pushed for this very thing.

“I get all these kinds of requests from abroad like, ‘Where is my favorite Iron Man?’ or ‘Where is my beloved Goku?’” once said Sakurai according to PushDustin’s translations. “However, basically (Smash) will only have content from video games in it.”

“I get all these kinds of requests from abroad like, ‘Where is my favorite Iron Man?’ or ‘Where is my beloved Goku?’ However, basically (Smash) will only have content from video games in it.” — Masahiro Sakurai

Though Sakurai has backpedaled on excluding certain characters (such as Ridley being too big to be playable), he has been adamant that Goku will never be in Smash. For those same reasons, we’ll also probably get a real life person playable in the series.

Despite this, Sakurai still wanted to appease these sort of fans without breaking the rules he had put in place. As a result, Sakurai eventually added the Mii Brawler, Mii Swordfighter, and Mii Gunner to Super Smash Bros. 4.

During the trailer for this reveal, Reggie Fils-Aime and Satoru Iwata had an epic confrontation that would not be out of place in the Dragon Ball series. This would be Sakurai’s compromise for those that would never have these sort of crazy requests fulfilled.

Notably, the Nintendo Switch 2 has finally been officially revealed. As such, a new entry in the Super Smash Bros. franchise is expected to launch on the console at some point as Nintendo has always released an entry with every mainline console since the Nintendo 64.

Masahiro Sakurai himself recently told fans that he’s been working on a secret game project since April 2022. Due to the timing of this, many of us believe that Sakurai’s next game will be for the Switch 2.

Is it too soon for this to be a sequel to Super Smash Bros. Ultimate? Technically speaking, it’s been over six years since the latest entry was originally released on December 7, 2018.

When a sequel inevitably does happen, we’ll probably see Sakurai returning to some older ideas as he’s done in the past. Even still, the likelihood of Sakurai once again considering the concept of including real life people as fighters feels incredibly slim.

Ultimately though, we’ll just have to see if this sort of thing can actually happen despite Sakurai’s reservations.

  • The combined character usage stats for all 24 regions of the World Warrior for the Capcom Pro Tour 2024

All 24 regions for the Capcom Pro Tour 2024’s World Warrior series have crowned their champions to compete in Capcom Cup 2024 later this year. This provides us with an interesting opportunity to analyze the character usage stats for all 24 regions in order to gauge the meta for Street Fighter 6

Within the top 8 amongst all regions, all 24 characters currently in Street Fighter 6 saw at least some representation. Of course, there was only one player using Ryu, making him the least used character of the events.

    M. Bison, Cammy, and Ken were the most frequently used characters in terms of them being used as players’ mains. Each of these challengers were primarily used by 17 players each.

Of course, it should also be mentioned that M. Bison and Akuma were used the most as secondaries. Both of them were utilized in this way by four players apiece, but it should be noted that Cammy and Ken were also used fairly often for this purpose.

Aside from Ryu, Marisa and Jamie were used the least often. Though they were used as mains at the same frequency as Ryu, they were both also pulled out as backup characters.

Terry Bogard, Street Fighter’s first guest character, doesn’t seem all that popular in the tournament scene at the moment. Still, he was ultimately used by four players (twice as a main and twice as a secondary).

    Check it all out below:

    • M. Bison – 17 (4)

    • Cammy – 17 (3)

    • Ken – 17 (3)

    • Akuma – 12 (4)

    • Ed – 11 (1)

    • Luke – 11 (1)

    • JP – 10 (1)

    • Chun-Li – 10

    • Dee Jay – 9 (2)

    • Blanka – 8 (2)

    • Kimberly – 8 (1)

    • Dhalsim – 8

    • Juri – 7 (3)

    • Zangief – 7 (2)

    • Guile – 7 (1)

    • A.K.I. – 7

    • Manon – 7

    • Lily – 6

    • E. Honda – 5

    • Rashid – 3 (1)

    • Terry – 2 (2)

  • Capcom thought fans would lose their minds if they could include this final boss, but Marvel rejected his inclusion initially

Yet another story of a rejection surfacing later on down the road

“If we have him as our boss, the American fans are going to lose their mind!! That’s how much of an impact THIS GUY has,” former Capcom staff member Katsuya ‘Shaky’ Akitomo once said about including Galactus as the final boss in the 1998 release of Marvel vs. Capcom.

But this wasn’t meant to be, as once Marvel got word on Capcom’s intentions with Galactus, they wanted someone else instead as the final boss — who also wouldn’t make it in.

“Marvel suggested to us the character of Loki (those who know him are connoisseurs),” Capcom staff wrote many years ago on a ‘Secret Web Page’ that documented various aspects of Marvel vs. Capcom’s release, which was translated by our own Nicholas ‘MajinTenshinhan’ Taylor, and pointed out by SeventhForce.

“[Loki’s] one of the biggest enemies for The Avengers, thus also for Captain America. As a choice, he’s a very good fit,” they wrote. “He uses magic so you can make him do anything. For a game like this, that’s very beneficial. It makes basically anything okay.

“However, HOWEVER. Who knows him in Japan? He’s all covered in green tights. He has a helmet that looks like bug horns… W… WHAT’S COOL ABOUT HIM?!?!?! (However, when a good artist draws him, Loki is actually cool),” Capcom’s staff wrote at the time.

Onslaught ended up being the final boss for Marvel vs. Capcom, but the developers were clearly very excited to add Galactus to the game, as they felt he’d top the inclusion of Apocalypse as the final boss in the 1997 release of Marvel Super Heroes vs. Street Fighter.

“Now, here we’re going to talk about our conflict regarding the final boss Galactus. His design, his size, his power… he was totally unbeatable, the greatest, in all regards!!! He’s an ‘omnipotent god’, after all,” they wrote.

However, Marvel overruled their desires and noted that “As the finishing blow, they told us that Galactus is an omnipotent god so you can not defeat him and he also wouldn’t even fight,” the developers said.

“Tomichin, our director, started thinking ‘What does this even mean for us?’ and even our American Comics adviser Shaky Akitomo was in a state of bewilderment,” Capcom wrote.

All was not lost though, as Galactus would re-emerge as the final boss in the 2011 release of Marvel vs. Capcom 3, which goes to show good ideas will often resurface later on down the road.

As the years have passed though, Loki has emerged as one of the more popular characters in the Marvel franchise, thanks to his portrayal by Tom Hiddleston in many live action adaptations.

However, Capcom’s aversion to including him has kept true through the years, where he was once again up for consideration in Marvel vs. Capcom 3, but the game’s producer, Ryota Niitsuma, said that “His specialty is to deceive his opponent’s through magical illusions,” and he was unsure how that would fit in the context of a fighting game.

Given Marvel’s penchant to include Loki, and his heavy popularity, it wouldn’t be shocking to see him included in a Marvel vs. Capcom 4, or whatever name the next Marvel game developed by Capcom takes.

If you want to go further, make sure you check out the four characters Marvel required to be included on their end of the roster and other fighters who were rejected along the way, including The Fantastic Four, Dr. Octopus and Spider-Woman in the first Marvel vs. Capcom game.

  • Conan the Barbarian’s full Animality is a real load of bull in Mortal Kombat 1

Conan the Barbarian is set to join the Mortal Kombat 1 roster on January 21, 2025 for Kombat Pack 2 owners. He’ll become available for everyone else on January 28, 2025.

We’ve already seen Conan’s first and second Fatality in Mortal Kombat 1, but we’ve only been given a quick glimpse at his Animality. Yes, even the guest characters are getting Animalities.

It turns out that Super was invited by NetherRealm Studios to check out Conan the Barbarian early. During his video, Super actually showed off Conan the Barbarian’s full Animality animation.

We previously already knew that Conan’s Animality had him transforming into a raging bull. Before undergoing the shapeshifting process, Conan tosses his blade high up into the air. Just before he begins charging forward, the blade is left sticking out of the ground after landing — this will be important for later!

The opponent is then impaled through the mouth by the bull’s horn. This bull then begins spinning in place with the opponent still attached by the horn.

Eventually, the opponent is spun directly into the sword, twice. As a result, the opponent is split into three pieces. By the looks of things, this is definitely one of the more brutal finishers in Mortal Kombat 1.

  • Rising revealed, available February 26

Sandalphon was actually revealed for Granblue Fantasy Versus: Rising as far back as July 2024, but today is the first time we’ve seen anything of his gameplay. The full trailer was released near the conclusion of Cygames Cup 2025.

This new DLC fighter has now been officially scheduled to join the roster on February 26, 2025. Players will be able to purchase him for $7.99.

Funnily enough, Sandalphon’s intro is very similar to that of Jin’s from Tekken 8. He holds his hand out as a feather slowly falls onto it, resulting in him closing it into a fist.

Sandalphon is a six-winged archangel with strong convictions. Of course, all six wings will only appear while Sandalphon performs the animation of his most powerful attack.

Based on his gameplay in the trailer, Sandalphon appears to have a relatively well-rounded kit. He’s good at fighting up close, but he’s also shown to have powerful projectiles in his arsenal.

At one point, an opponent is shown performing an attack against Sandalphon while airborne. However, Sandalphon is able to easily overpower the attempt with a move that seems specifically designed as an anti-air.

  • Connecticut Groomer Legislator Exposed – Libs of TikTok

For years, Democrats have been accusing those across the aisle of “banning books” and threatening the education of children. What they always fail to mention, is what books they are talking about. For some reason, they never show images.

Connecticut State Senator Bob Duff, a Democrat, introduced a bill alongside Ceci Maher, another Democrat State Senator, prohibiting school libraries from removing books and offering librarians immunity from any liability.

This bill, called S.B. No. 523, would allow pornographic books to be available in school libraries for children and prevent parents from suing the schools to prevent their distribution.

After our report went viral, Senator Duff went on X and clarified exactly what books he was talking about… Oh, wait. No, he didn’t.

Instead, he opted to call Libs of TikTok a “bigot” and pathetically attempted to justify his proposed bill.

Since Senator Duff had a difficult time letting Americans know which books he wanted kids to read, we made sure to showcase the exact pornographic books he wants to make available to children in school libraries.

However, Senator Duff was not very appreciative of our assistance…

So this time, he posted a video where he doubled down on his position and called concerned parents “crazies” because they don’t want kids reading porn in school.

Bob Duff, an elected official, has one job: to serve the interests of those who elected him. Instead, he wants to pass legislation that shields schools from responsibility, allowing them to indoctrinate and expose your children to sexual material.

We have a word for people like this: GROOMER.

Democrats like Senator Duff are pushing for the sexualization of children but Libs of TikTok won’t let them get away with it. We will expose any legislator who seeks harm to children and destroy their innocence. We will expose any legislator who attempts to crush the rights of parents to dictate their child’s life and education. We will expose any school that devolves into a woke indoctrination camp.

5 more days until we have sanity back in the White House!

  • Exposing The School Sex Crime Epidemic

Schools are supposed to be a safe place where children are safe to learn and thrive. Teachers are the ones responsible for their safety, but confidence in the country’s school system is failing… and for good reason.

Over this past week, we reported on a near-record number of teachers who are part of a growing trend of child predators infesting the nation’s educational institutions.

To start it off, we reported that in just the last few months, 6 staff members from Clark County Schools in Las Vegas have been arrested on charges relating to child sex crimes. Six from just one district!

Unfortunately, it just gets worse from here…

Richard Craig Harrison, a teacher at Grantsville High School in Utah, was sentenced to a year in jail after he pleaded guilty to the forcible sexual abuse of a minor student.

    Image

What makes it even more disturbing, is that multiple teachers showed up to court IN SUPPORT of Harrison, despite his admission of guilt.

The entire school should be investigated. Speaking of investigations…

Lawrence Grigg, another high school teacher at the Abilene Independent School District in Texas, was indicted for allegedly meeting up with a student at least 10 times at local hotels for sex.

If you thought 10 was a lot, just wait until you see this next one…

Yesterday, Utah police announced that Ricardo Prins, a teacher at the Rockwell Charter School in Eagle Mountain, is wanted on 42 counts of criminal sexual misconduct with a juvenile.

    Image

However, Prins has not been arrested since he FLED THE COUNTRY to Brazil.

Though teachers like Prins have yet to be caught, some teachers were not caught soon enough.

Laura Caron, a teacher at Middle Township Elementary School in NJ, was arrested after she allegedly raped one of her students over several years, resulting in her becoming pregnant with the student’s child. The student was 11-YEARS-OLD when the sexual relationship began.

    Image

The student along with his siblings were routinely living with the teacher after the parents befriended her. She kept the child a secret for years.

Children in our schools are constantly being subjected to sexual horrors. Pornographic books are being distributed in school libraries, curriculums are pushing radical gender ideology, and numerous teachers are being revealed as pedophiles.

There is a massive epidemic of child predators in our schools and it needs to be exposed.

I mean, who is even vetting these people??

Hopefully Trump succeeds in SHUTTING DOWN THE DEPARTMENT OF EDUCATION. The entire education system needs to be shut down and rebuilt from scratch.

    Have a great weekend

  • Daigo Umehara makes comedically awkward entrance in borrowed suit as fighting games won big at the Japan eSports Awards

The Beast himself walked away with 2 awards including the Lifetime Achievement Award

Fighting games are booming once again in Japan, especially on the back of Street Fighter 6, and the scene is receiving some official recognition for their strides and accomplishments.

The Japan eSports Awards 2024 just took place earlier today where top fighting game competitors, its leagues and titles themselves won big — while having some laughs along the way too.

BST|Daigo Umehara may have been the biggest winner overall with The Beast himself taking home two awards for his recent and storied career accomplishments.

Firstly, Umehara was given the Live Entertainment Best Bout Award for his comeback against Yamaguchi during the Street Fighter League Pro-JP season last Fall.

More importantly, however, Daigo was also recognized with the Lifetime Achievement Award for his 30 years of competing at a top level across multiple games and evolving the scene in a way around him.

The legendary player is considered the first true pro fighting game player who was able to go full-time with a big sponsor back in 2010, which took him more than a decade to reach.

Similarly, Umehara seems to express how it can take a lot of time to be recognized and appreciated in general, not just about himself.

The multi-game god’s discussion of his career takes place starting around the 2 hour and 35 minute mark though it’s obviously all in Japanese.

And then we get the funny parts.

Daigo is not known for being very graceful in formal and professional settings like this, which was on full display here around the 2 hour and 39 minute mark.

When called out for his nomination, Umehara awkwardly looks around and asks the host to point out where he’s supposed to stand and walk off to.

At the same time, the separate commentary desk was having a laugh at Daigo actually showing up in a suit, which was also comedically explained.

Umehara still doesn’t somehow apparently own a suit, so one had to supposedly be purchased for him and brought to the show so that he couldn’t forget it as translated by HiFight.

His acceptance speech begins around the 2 hour and 45 minute mark.

Beyond Daigo, his longtime rival Rohto|Tokido also walked away with a big score too.

He was given the Best eSports Player / Most Valuable Player of the Year Award, which likely tied back largely to his huge Capcom Pro Tour Japan Super Premier victory late last year.

Street Fighter 6 itself received the Best eSports Game Award with Producer Shuhei Matsumoto coming out to give a speech while the Street Fighter League was recognized with the Best eSports Tournament Award too.

Moreover, Tekken World Tour 2024 champion VARREL|Rangchu and other members across the fighting game community were given awards and recognition throughout the show.

We even saw Haitani and Kokujin appeared in another funny commercial together like they previously did last year around the 2 hour and 17 minute mark.

So overall, the Japanese fighting game scene had a huge presence across the whole awards show.

You can check out the full stream below for the Japan eSports Awards, which should begin with Daigo’s entrance.

  • DEI at the LA Fire Department

Less than two weeks into 2025, and it’s already been one of the craziest years yet. This week has been nonstop news, from the resignation of Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau to the certification of Donald Trump’s presidential victory.

But the major focus has been the literal firestorm ravaging California, resulting in 10 deaths, and thousands of homes and businesses turned to ash.

Many questions surfaced about the preparation and response to the firestorm which led us to investigate the LAFD.

The Los Angeles, California, and LAFD leadership, has been laced with woke DEI policies that have set up the state for failure.

Libs of TikTok dug into the details and discovered a litany of DEI policies and woke programs that have crippled the ability to respond to such disasters.

Firstly, you have Los Angeles Mayor Karen Bass, who decided to attend a political event in Ghana while her city was on fire.

Additionally, Bass was responsible for cutting over $17 million from the Los Angeles Fire Department budget. But don’t worry, Bass made sure that hundreds of thousands of tax dollars went towards “important” things like transgender cafes and Social Justice Art.

And then we have the LAFD itself…

LAFD Fire Chief Kristin Crowley, the first female and LGBTQ leader of the department, has repeatedly stated that pushing for a “more diverse and inclusive” fire department is one of her top objectives.

Woke ideologies like this have led to complaints that the California firefighting force has too many White males. As you can imagine, California ended up with a shortage of wildland firefighters.

The DEI nonsense doesn’t stop there.

LAFD Deputy Chief Kristine Larson, another LGBTQ leader in the department, went on camera and claimed that if she needed to carry a man out of a fire, “he got himself in the wrong place.”

Even going back as far as 2021, the Los Angeles Fire Department was passing “racial equity plans” to end “systemic, institutional, and structural racism” in efforts to map out the race of every employee to make sure they’re racially diverse enough.

The Department was so focused on DEI instead of focusing on… you know… fires.

Lastly, we have Governor Gavin Newsom, who’s been blasted by everyone including fire victims for his disastrous handling of fire and water management. President Trump called out Newsom’s woke environment practices that focused on rerouting water away from So-Cal to save a fish.

It’s no wonder he wants to ignore accountability. Because of decisions like these, crucial reservoirs are empty and fire hydrants have run dry.

Californians overwhelmingly voted to spend billions on water storage and reservoirs but to this day, not a single one has been completed.

The situation in California is an absolute tragedy, brought on and intensified by a series of woke, democrat-led leadership that has put so many innocent people at risk.

Families have lost their entire livelihoods and neighborhoods have been turned to ash. Leaders in California need to be held responsible for this catastrophic failure. While they focus on pushing radical DEI policies, the people of California will continue to suffer.

Libs of TikTok won’t let them forget their failure.

    America deserves better.

Please join me in praying for the victims of the fires.
