  • Full move lists for all 9 beta characters in Fatal Fury: City of the Wolves

Update: This story has been updated with nine characters featured in the second beta for Fatal Fury: City of the Wolves including Tizoc.

The Fatal Fury: City of the Wolves beta test is well underway and players from across the world have logged in to try and figure out what there is to this game and if they gel with its systems and characters.

But to be frank, there’s no way to know if you gel with your character or not unless you know their moves… which is why we decided to give you an easy hub (see what I did there?) to check them out at.

Of course, the move lists are viewable in-game as well, but having them up on a separate monitor while you’re trying things out never hurts, since they’re not available mid-match or between rounds, but simply when you’re picking your character before going into a match.

Some of these move lists have been public for a while since some of these fighters have been available at various offline events in the past and were included as part of our beta guide, but even there we weren’t able to post the move listings for Hotaru Futaba, B. Jenet or Kain R. Heinlein.

Now, we have the full move lists for every single character featured in the beta — B. Jenet, Hotaru, Kain, Mai, Preecha, Rock, Terry and Vox Reaper.

Even for seasoned Fatal Fury players there’s some new or different stuff here on several characters, so even if you feel like you know your fighter well already, it doesn’t hurt to double-check.

You can find the full move listings for all eight beta characters right below, captured in-game from the Steam version.

  • Despite having his own Capcom-developed video game, this iconic Marvel Comics character never got his chance in Marvel vs. Capcom

Once more I find myself doing a dive into Marvel’s vast library of characters to find yet another highly iconic and popular character who simply never got a chance in the Marvel vs. Capcom series.

While this isn’t surprising by any means — as stated, Marvel’s character pool is beyond gigantic — this one actually does come off as a bit peculiar if for no other reason then that Capcom actually made a well-received game with this very character only a few years before X-Men vs. Street Fighter, the game which eventually spawned the long-running Marvel vs. Capcom franchise.

Most of readers have probably already pieced together who I’m talking about, if not from the description then from the banner image which showcases the iconic skull motif of one of Marvel’s most unrelenting tough-on-crime vigilantes, The Punisher.

Originally appearing as a foe of Spider-Man in The Amazing Spider-Man #129 from 1974, Frank Castle (the real name of The Punisher) was hunting Spider-Man because he was believed to be a murderer.

In this early depiction, The Punisher is shown to be absolutely ruthless against criminals and unlike most heroes you’ll find in Marvel’s library he had absolute no qualms with killing career criminals as he believed this to be the most morally righteous course of action — stopping them for good.

This characterization of The Punisher has stayed consistent throughout the years long after he outgrew his origin as a Spider-Man foe, with his motivation for being so brutal towards criminals rooted in him having lost his wife and two children due to them accidentally being nearby during a mob hit and being killed for being inconvenient witnesses.

In 1985, The Punisher received his first own comic and ever since then he has become one of Marvel’s most enduring and popular characters with his own comic book running for more than 250 issues as of writing.

His popularity transcends just comics as well with three feature-length movies being made in 1989, 2004 and 2008, respectively, several video games (including one Capcom made in 1993 which is included in the Marvel vs. Capcom Fighting Collection) and also been part of several special comics and crossovers including perhaps the most bizarre one which sees him encountering Archie Andrews. Yes… that Archie.

Not only that, but The Punisher saw even more attention via the Marvel Cinematic Universe where he appeared in Netflix’s Daredevil TV series and from it spun off into his own TV show which ran for two seasons and is soon to see a new television special in 2026 following up on his story line in said cinematic universe.

Basically, The Punisher has had a very strong presence not just in the comics but in the media surrounding them for over 30 years now, to the point which would make many other comic book characters green with envy.

So why was he excluded from Marvel vs. Capcom? His popularity has been very high during the 1990s into the 2000s which is the prime time for being included in these projects.

It’s hard to say why The Punisher was left out of the early games as I couldn’t find any quotes of developers really mentioning him at all.

One thing which comes to mind is the problem with licenses which plagued Marvel throughout the ’90s, which is when X-Men vs. Street Fighter and the first Marvel vs. Capcom were being worked on.

Marvel vs. Capcom producer Kenji Kataoka talked about it in some recently translated blog posts which we covered a few months ago, though he never directly mentioned The Punisher himself.

“There was nothing we could do. I’m so sorry to all the fans. A different company held the copyright for [Iron Man], and since he was still under contract for games we couldn’t use him.” — Kenji Kataoka

He talks about how contracts were in place for many of Marvel’s different characters for their game rights, sometimes done in such a bizarre way that while Iron Man wasn’t allowed to be included, they could just change his armor to gray and say that it was War Machine and it would be fine.

Lots of characters get mentioned in these talks, also relating how the Fantastic Four and Thor weren’t approved for use, so it’s entirely possible that The Punisher had something similar restricting him.

However, it does seem strange considering that Marvel had already permitted Capcom to make a The Punisher game in 1993 which was well-received.

Not only does this make it seem like Capcom, if anyone, should hold the rights to The Punisher for games, it also makes it so that they could likely re-use some of the sprite work from that game and convert to their fighting games, especially for Marvel vs. Capcom 2 which notoriously re-used sprite work from tons of different games for its roster.

There’s never been anything specifically said regarding this, but given how strict Marvel’s rights were at the time and how much these contracts changed on seemingly a daily basis, it’s possible that Capcom only had the game rights for The Punisher back in 1993 but no longer retained them at the time of fighting game crossovers.

Whatever the case, we ended up not seeing The Punisher in the early sprite-based Marvel vs. Capcom games and there’s been no real comment on it. So what about Marvel vs. Capcom 3?

Well, for this one there actually was a clarification on The Punisher and it was fairly early on during the game’s promotional tour, almost a full year before the full release of the original version of Marvel vs. Capcom 3.

In 2010, Capcom-Unity did a streamed interview with Ryota Niitsuma, Marvel vs. Capcom 3’s producer, where they touched upon certain characters and outright ruled them out from the roster, a practice which seems unthinkable of today, only 15 years later.

While there’s no direct transcribed version of what Niitsuma said, he mentioned six specific characters that would not be in the game — Phoenix Wright and God Hand’s Gene from the Capcom side and Emma Frost, Daredevil, Ghost Rider and The Punisher for Marvel’s side. Phoenix Wright and Ghost Rider would later appear in the enhanced version Ultimate Marvel vs. Capcom 3.

Why these specific characters were mentioned is unclear, though it’s been claimed in an old Reddit comment on /r/Kappa by user slib_ that he was at this very panel and that Niitsuma had said that his personal favorite character they worked on was Emma Frost, but they ended up stopping development on her presumably in favor of Phoenix.

It’s entirely possible that all of these characters were actually worked on at some point which is why Niitsuma specifically mentioned these, but that hasn’t been confirmed.

On the subject of The Punisher, though, Niitsuma did clarify his reasons for not including him by saying that he was too similar to Chris Redfield from Resident Evil, who was part of the Marvel vs. Capcom 3 roster.

This makes sense considering both of them fight without any superpowers and generally make use of all kinds of weapons from pistols and machine guns to rocket launchers and grenades.

When you consider what a moveset for The Punisher might look like, it genuinely doesn’t feel too different from what Chris already presents in Marvel vs. Capcom 3.

So is that it, then? Is The Punisher just an unlucky victim of circumstance who happened to be too similar to a main protagonist from one of Capcom’s most successful franchises? Well, for Marvel vs. Capcom 3 at least, that definitely seems to be the case based on the limited information we have.

At the moment, there’s nothing on the horizon for the Marvel vs. Capcom series that we’re aware of, but if we do get to see a Marvel vs. Capcom 4 in the future, The Punisher still remains more relevant than ever with a strong presence in comics, TV shows and gaming itself as one of the central characters in the highly successful Marvel Rivals.

With Resident Evil having lots of different abilities and characters they could potentially include, might we see a reversal in any future project where The Punisher is included as the “gun guy” and Resident Evil taps more into its supernatural elements for its picks (something that was already largely done in Marvel vs. Capcom 3 with Wesker, Jill and Nemesis T-Type, I might add)?

It’s hard to say. With these crossover titles, it all comes down to what’s relevant at the time of development starting and predicting the future isn’t going to be easy when it comes to two juggernauts like Marvel and Capcom, if they ever even collaborate again to begin with.

However, given that he’s one of the more morally gray characters in Marvel’s roster and not always easy to simply put into a “hero” or “villain” category given the brutality of his methods, I’ve always wanted to see what he’d have to offer in a game like this, especially in one as rich with extra dialogue and easter eggs like Marvel vs. Capcom 3.

Hopefully Frank will get his time in the future. Until then, we’ll always have the 1993 arcade game if we want to wail on Kingpin for a bit.

  • Street Fighter 6 already features a few of Street Fighter 5’s new characters, which other ones seem likely to join the roster?

As the latest entry in the Street Fighter franchise before our current one, Street Fighter 5 should still be fairly fresh in people’s memories. After a tumultuous launch, the game saw long post-launch support, eventually growing a roster of 16 characters all the way to 45 — and a lot of them were brand new to the franchise, too.

A few of them are already in Street Fighter 6, although none made the launch roster, but which other ones are likely to join Street Fighter 6 during its post-launch support era, which will likely be going on for many years to come? Well, it’s time to have a look at the potential candidates.

First of all, let me point out that Abigail and Lucia won’t be mentioned within this article. This is because I already previously did a piece on Final Fight characters and their potential to join Street Fighter 6, so if you want to read about those two specifically you can check out that piece.

As for which characters from the Street Fighter 5 era who have already made it in to Street Fighter 6, season 1 saw the addition of both Rashid and Ed, two of Street Fighter 5’s newcomers, to the fray.

It’s also worth noting that Luke did join the Street Fighter franchise as the final fighter in Street Fighter 5, but seeing as he was included specifically as a sneak peek on what was in store for Street Fighter 6, with him already being created as the main character of the upcoming next installment, it’s somewhat debatable if he’s a Street Fighter 5 character or not.

Be that as it may, he’s in both games, so that’s that.

Now let’s have a look at which other characters might share that status with him and which are much less likely at doing so.

Necalli came off as an intimidating character with a cool design and when he was originally revealed, people were fairly excited about him. He was the first brand new character for Street Fighter 5 and seemed to have some kind of implications for the Satsui no Hado.

Then… well, the game released, people experienced the story mode and honestly, even Capcom dropped him like a bad habit, to the point where this character who seemed to have been poised to be the new antagonist of Street Fighter 5 was just… a sheep? No, really, in the story mode there’s a tripped out dream sequence where he transforms between himself and a sheep.

It’s hard to tell what exactly went wrong with Necalli, but whatever it was, Capcom did not handle it well and bizarrely claimed that G, a character who never even showed up in the story at all, was the “boss character” of Street Fighter 5.

I can’t imagine ever seeing Necalli again, to be frank, and accordingly to the blunder he ended up being, he has no references to him in Street Fighter 6 that I could find. He also placed near the bottom in both the 2018 and 2024 character polls. Yeah… sorry Necalli fans, I think he’s gone for good.

Although definitely more present than Necalli, there are a few other characters from Street Fighter 5 who seem unlikely not necessarily because they were complete misfires, but because Street Fighter 6 seems to have already essentially replaced them or finds them redundant.

The most obvious one of these is of course F.A.N.G, who has been succeeded by his protégé A.K.I. They don’t play the same, but they have the same gimmick of poison surrounding them and F.A.N.G. actually shows up a very good deal in Street Fighter 6’s World Tour where he sends you to talk to A.K.I. a few times.

Especially given the massive popularity A.K.I. has proven to have, I believe F.A.N.G. will be present in Street Fighter moving forward but as a narrative character more than an actual playable slot, with A.K.I. basically doing the dirty work for him.

Another character in a somewhat similar but not entirely identical spot is Zeku, Guy’s master in Bushinryu who many believe took his student’s place in Street Fighter 5.

In Street Fighter 6, we have an entirely new Bushinryu practitioner in Kimberly who is Guy’s student and while I don’t think that means we can’t have another ninja (or even another Bushinryu ninja specifically) in the roster, I think Zeku’s chances are fairly low.

If they wanted to use a Bushinryu ninja who wasn’t Guy, they already had Zeku right there. If they preferred a woman, Maki was available. But they went out of their way to make Kimberly from scratch instead, so I’d wager Zeku was already proposed and met with a “pass” from Capcom’s development team.

Zeku is actually referenced in Street Fighter 6, though, but only by a poster on Kimberly’s wall in her arcade ending illustration.

Finally, one more character I’d like to place in this category is Kage. Basically the embodiment of Evil Ryu after Ryu expelled the Satsui no Hado from his consciousness, he felt mostly like an excuse to have Evil Ryu without forcing Ryu to stay static in his story.

Kage’s popularity is actually decent, although not super high, placing around the middle but still in the upper half in the 2024 poll, but I feel like he’s a very “been there, done that” character and just doesn’t really serve any narrative purpose, which is something Capcom seem to be striving more for with Street Fighter 6.

He does make an appearance in one of Akuma’s story images in Street Fighter 6 as he’s another representative of the Satsui no Hado, but I honestly believe that’s all he’ll stay as.

Now, for the characters who I think actually have an okay chance of showing up.

One character who has absolutely no relation to the story but I think might still have a shot is Laura Matsuda, based largely on her just having interpersonal relationships with other characters.

Since she’s the older sister of Sean, Ken’s disciple, she has an automatic connection to him at the very least, so I could see her showing up eventually… though I wouldn’t expect her if Sean doesn’t come first, to be honest.

Laura is referenced slightly in the game with a cameo at one of Dee Jay’s concerts in the crowd alongside Guile and his daughter and is also mentioned by Blanka, presumably since they’re both from Brazil and both use electricity.

Menat is another character who I could see appearing, but much like with Laura, I feel like she’s one you’d have to expect based on the other picks. Menat preceded her master Rose in Street Fighter 5, but I don’t think that’ll happen twice.

Basically, if Rose shows up and has proper relevance for Capcom to want to include her in the narrative, I’m sure Menat will follow. If they’re not going to look at Rose particularly, I doubt we’ll see Menat. For her part, Menat doesn’t seem to be anywhere in Street Fighter 6 at the moment.

G, who as mentioned earlier was supposedly the final boss of Street Fighter 5, goes basically entirely unmentioned in Street Fighter 6’s narrative so far. His only appearance is as a background poster where he poses like Uncle Sam.

The main thing going for G besides his general popularity is the implied importance that Capcom have just never been able to actually show. Even Street Fighter 6’s director Takayuki Nakayama has said that G’s story is deep and he wishes to tell it one day.

Will that day be in Street Fighter 6? Well… let’s hope so.

Speaking of story relevance, there’s also been almost no mention of the Illuminati so far, despite the game taking place after Street Fighter 3. With the Gill subplot still unresolved, if we actually do revisit it during Street Fighter 6’s time, then his right-hand-woman Kolin will probably be showing up as well.

She is referenced by Juri as well as present in illustrations in the game, so it’s not like Capcom are ignoring her existence entirely, but she really has no relationships or story content outside of her organization.

Kolin’s general popularity isn’t very high, placing in the lower half in both polls, so in her case it’s almost entirely a case of story relevance, I think. If Capcom wants to follow up on Street Fighter 3’s narrative, she’ll be there. If not, I doubt it.

Finally, the most likely one out of this bunch should be Falke. Basically a sister figure to Ed, she is a member of Neo Shadaloo and Ed references her heavily, saying that he’s worried about her, in Street Fighter 6’s World Tour mode.

She also appears for Ed’s birthday celebration presenting him with a birthday cake, so their close bond from Street Fighter 5 seems to be entirely intact.

Given that Ed himself has already been included in the game, and quite early at that, Falke stands a decent chance of showing up too. The main obstacle she’s facing is that Neo Shadaloo has shown some other members as well and Capcom could potentially decide to include someone else from the group who hasn’t been playable yet over her.

Her popularity is middling at best based on the 2024 poll, so she’s most likely a nepotism inclusion via Ed if anything. But that’s more than enough given his current significance.

It may surprise you (it did me), but Akira is actually insane popular. Like, I knew she was popular, but she’s absurdly popular.

One of the standout characters from Street Fighter’s sister franchise Rival Schools, Akira was eventually added to Street Fighter 5 due to her general popularity as a character and the fact that her home series hadn’t seen a new installment in a long time.

As one of the last characters, she didn’t get to shine for too long before Street Fighter 5 was phased out in favor of the new release Street Fighter 6, but her inclusion was most definitely well-received.

So well-received was it, in fact, that in the recent 2024 poll held in-game via Street Fighter 6’s battle hub, she landed in 4th place, losing only to A.K.I., Sakura and Akuma and actually beating out the series main character Ryu who ended in 5th.

Akira’s plot relevance is fairly thin since she’s very new to the Street Fighter family itself and that Rival Schools, her origin series, deals with entirely different issues than Street Fighter does (Street Fighter being about world warriors while Rival Schools is literally just centered on one particular school), but her popularity more than makes up for that.

The fact that she’s from Rival Schools also carries extra potential for Capcom since it gives them direct cross-promotion value if they’re looking to revive the Rival Schools franchise and since Capcom have been asking fans which franchises they want to see back that’s definitely something that they’re very much thinking about.

So far, Akira has nothing referencing her in Street Fighter 6, but in her case that might be in her favor rather than to her detriment, because her absence actually comes off as conspicuous if anything.

Her popularity coupled with Capcom looking at franchises to revive (and Rival Schools placed quite well in that poll, especially domestically, when asked what games they’d like to see remakes of) as well as the general novelty of her gameplay since she’s from a different series all merge together into the perfect storm and make me think we’ll see her before Street Fighter 6 ends its support.

There’s also the clear possibility of including other Rival Schools characters since Akira did so well, but when she’s already resonated so well with fans… why not do both? It’s not like we tend to be limited to just one Final Fight character either, right?

And there we have it — I’d wager we’ll see a few more Street Fighter 5 cast members show up throughout Street Fighter 6’s lifespan, but the only one from this list that I’d be willing to bet any bison bucks on would be Akira.

What about you? Who are you hoping to see come back from Street Fighter 5? Let us know in the comments.

  • March Nintendo Direct live stream

Yesterday, we got word that a Nintendo Direct was set to air today which will be focusing on Nintendo Switch games.

This came as something of a surprise considering we’ve had a date for next week for a long time of a Nintendo Direct which will be focusing on Switch 2, meaning a different Direct in such close proximity wasn’t on most people’s radars until a few days ago when rumors started swirling.

Since this Nintendo Direct is entirely focused on upcoming Nintendo Switch games, it’s hard to say what exactly will be present at it.

Nintendo have clarified that there will be no talk about Nintendo Switch 2 during today’s presentation. This comes as no surprise seeing as we have a specific Switch 2 Direct set for April 2nd, which is on Wednesday next week.

You can see the post from Nintendo of America’s X account below which specifies that the presentation will be around 30 minutes long.

Whether there will be any fighting game content at this presentation or not is anyone’s guess, but we have in the past seen Capcom present their fighting game collections at Nintendo Directs.

There’s also the possibility of Nintendo themselves having something in store for their fighters Super Smash Bros., Pokkén Tournament or ARMS, though it’s not too likely that those projects would be in the works for Nintendo Switch over its successor.

  • The funny story of how Akira Toriyama suddenly came up with Trunks’ backstory and why he named him based on undergarments

It’s been over 30 years since Trunks first appeared in chapter 331 of the Weekly Shōnen Jump series Dragon Ball Z on July 2, 1991. The chapter was titled “The Young Boy of Mystery.”

Needless to say, Trunks’ sudden appearance in the story had quite the impact on the direction of the story. Though he was effortless able to take Frieza down, he warned of an even greater threat that would be presented in a few years’ time.

However, it turns out that this was all that Akira Toriyama had initially planned for in regards to Trunks’ backstory. An interview with Dragon Ball editors Kazuhiko Torishima, Yu Kondo, and Fuyuto Takeda revealed just how little Toriyama planned for Trunks.

“There was no long term plan for him to be the son of Vegeta and Bulma. It was only later that Toriyama made this connection and declared: ‘Okay, Bulma marries Vegeta.’”

“When Trunks first appeared, effortlessly wiping out Frieza, no one — not even Toriyama — had yet decided exactly who he was,” explained Enomis in a translation of what was said.

“There was no long term plan for him to be the son of Vegeta and Bulma. It was only later that Toriyama made this connection and declared: ‘Okay, Bulma marries Vegeta.’”

Funnily enough, this sudden reveal was enough to shock even Toriyama’s editors. Up until this point, Bulma had shown no romantic interest towards Vegeta, so the revelation felt like it came out of nowhere.

Of course, this had always been Toriyama’s style. He disliked overplanning, which often resulted in him making changes on the spot.

“Some suggested that the relationship should be explained in more detail, but Toriyama, in his usual spontaneous style, brushed it off with a casual ‘Eh, more or less.’”

Additionally, Toriyama made it one of his goals to surprise readers. At the same time, he preferred to keep his work as simple as possible. Toriyama was often asked by his editors what he planned to do after finishing the latest issue, but often didn’t have any plans to report then and there.

Regardless, when Toriyama revealed that Trunks would be the son of Vegeta and Bulma, his editors pushed for Toriyama to explore the relationship in more detail.

“Some suggested that the relationship should be explained in more detail, but Toriyama, in his usual spontaneous style, brushed it off with a casual ‘Eh, more or less.’”

With the connection to Bulma established, this would ultimately result in this character’s name becoming “Trunks.” This was due to how members of Bulma’s family were named based on words for undergarments — “bulma” means bloomers in Japanese, Dr. Briefs, Bikini, Tights, etc.

Essentially, Trunks’ name is in reference to a boy’s gym shorts, though the name has become so associated with the character at this point that most people probably don’t even recognize this as being a joke anymore.

It’s also interesting to note that Saiyan characters typically have names that are based on vegetables or other plant life. As a result, some fans speculate that Trunks’ name may also be based around a “tree trunk.”

However, Akira Toriyama has never confirmed whether or not this connection was intentional or not. More than likely, it was probably just a happy accident.

Unfortunately, we may never know with Toriyama’s unfortunate passing.

  • Artist Jaeon009 draws awesome Marvel Rivals fanart based on Capcom characters

A few days ago on X, user Jaeon009 drew some Marvel Rivals skins that are based on the Marvel vs. Capcom franchise.

Not only do they capture the essence of the Marvel Rivals art style really well, but there are also some really fun picks from Marvel vs. Capcom history here attached to some of Marvel Rivals’ standout characters.

You can check out the full gallery of artwork below, via Jaeon009’s post on X.

Marvel Rivals vs. Capcom by Jaeon009 image #3

In case there are any characters you didn’t catch the references on, the first image has Black Widow as Jill Valentine (Resident Evil 5-design as she appeared in Marvel vs. Capcom 3), Captain America as Captain Commando, Venom in Nemesis T-Type drip and finally Iron Fist going full shoto as Ryu.

On the second image, Star-Lord tries his hand at a Dante cosplay, Hela dresses up as Morrigan, Rocket Raccoon grabs Viewtiful Joe’s gear and Peni Parker does her best Tron Bonne.

Finally, the last picture has Winter Soldier as Bionic Commando’s Spencer, Iron Man as X from Mega Man X and finally Jeff the Land Shark isn’t actually cosplaying anything… but has found himself a Servbot companion to ride off into the sunset with.

Hopefully Jaeon009 gets struck by some more inspiration and draws up a few more of these because it has a really nice vibe to it.

Even though there’s no news of any Marvel vs. Capcom 4 as of yet, given Capcom’s heavy focus on crossover content for Street Fighter 6 there may be hope in the future to get some Marvel costumes in there… and hopefully for more than just the World Tour avatar.

Are there any crossover costumes you can think of that would be cool to see? Let us know in the comments.

  • City of the Wolves’ Open Beta Test starts tonight, here’s the patch notes everything you need to get started

SNK already had a crazy reveal today with Cristiano Ronaldo joining the roster of Fatal Fury: City of the Wolves, but that’s not all we have going on for the game.

The second Open Beta Test for Fatal Fury starts tonight, so here’s everything you need to get started on the action as well as the patch notes as to what’s changed.

This beta is slated to start shortly at 10 p.m. PT / 1 a.m. ET where players will have around five days to try the game out again since it’s set to end on Monday, March 31, at 1 a.m. PT / 4 a.m. ET.

Those who already have the beta client downloaded from last time should be good to go with the new one while those looking to hop in for the first time will likely need to wait until the beta actually begins to get the trial from the stores.

Like last time, the beta is available on PlayStation 5, PlayStation 4, Xbox Series X|S and PC via Steam.

There are some changes being made from the first test, however.

Nine playable characters will be available to use in this presumed final test with one new addition over the initial one.

There’s Vox Reaper, Preecha, Hotaru, Terry, Rock, B. Jenet, Kain, Mai and now Tizoc joining the mix.

And we already have the movelist for all of the Fatal Fury beta characters ready besides Tizoc.

The notes claim balance changes have been made since the first beta, but it doesn’t specify what those are.

Also included this time is an offline Training Mode, so players can hone their skills and combos outside of simply just playing matches, which is a great addition that was highly requested.

Aside from Training, Classic Versus, Ranked, Casual, Room Matches and Tutorial modes should all be available to use as well.

Two more stages have been added with Bar “Street Stars” and Universal Arena too.

There were wide reports of matchmaking issues in the first beta, so the hope is those have been ironed out for this second test.

City of the Wolves relies largely on the brand new REV System to power up matches in a similar fashion to Street Fighter 6’s Drive System.

Moreover, Fatal Fury has a wealth of offensive and defensive mechanics to learn and take advantage of including Just Defense, Hyper Defense, REV Guard, Brakes and Feints.

We’ve already covered our netcode impressions from the first test as well as our own in-depth impressions of the gameplay that you should check out if you haven’t already.

And you can learn more about the basics by watching the official starter guide video below as well as the patch notes for what’s new / different this time around.

    Added Character

    Tizoc

    • Tizoc, invincible pro wrestler and pride of South Town, has been added as a playable character. With his impressive arsenal of powerful grabs (such as the bombastic Big Fall Griffon), one thing’s for sure: when this heroic champion steps into the ring, not even the sky is his limit!

    Added Game Modes

    Classic Versus

    • Added Classic Versus Mode, where you can fight against the CPU or other players locally.

    • (Note: Classic Versus will be playable offline in the full release, but for the purposes of the OBT an Internet connection is required.)

    Training

    • Added Training Mode, where you can hone your skills in preparation for the fights ahead

    • Customize your training session by adjusting dummy behavior,
    power gauge settings, and more!

    • (Note: Training will be playable offline in the full release, but for the purposes of the OBT an Internet connection is required.)

    Training Standby

    • Added a standby feature that allows you to play in Training Mode while waiting to be matched online.

    Room Match (Training)

    • Added the ability to enter Training Mode from Room Match. This setting can be enabled for individual Room Match battle queues, fellow room members to enter Training Mode together.

    1. Open the Battle Queue Settings menu on the Room Match screen.

    2. Navigate to any Battle Queue selector and change the setting from VS to Training.

    3. Select Create Room and enter the Training battle queue.

    Added Stages

    Bar “Street Stars”

    • A new stage will appear in this OBT.

    • The cool atmosphere of Street Stars makes for a perfect place to throw down.

    Universal Arena

    • A new stage will appear in this OBT.

    • This is where the invincible Tizoc first became champion.

    Other

    • Reduced the wait time on the VS screen, allowing for players to move into the match faster.

    • Language names will now be written in their native language/font, instead of whatever system language is currently selected.

    Bug Fix
