A community in Nembe local Government Area of Bayelsa State has decried the deplorable state of her environment which has been grossly polluted by oil waste from nearby industries.

The Nembe river which is the only source of drinking water for the community has since the incident become very unhealthy for drinking. Aside from the incessant loss of Aquatic life.

According to reports from our source , the spill was reportedly sighted on Monday at around 8pm by a Fisherman who resided near a fishing settlement, Jalingo.

The pollution has consequently spread to the waters and creeks of neighbouring communities killing Aquatic animals and endangering the health of community dwellers .

The chairman of the Oil and Gas Action Commitees of Nembe Kingslyn, Chief Nengi James, also confirmed the development and have thus called on the Shell Petroleum Company to come remedy the situation by cleaning up the Mess .

We shall keep you abreast with further developments as they unfold.
