Manchester United are looking to completely remodel their squad, with Newcastle and West Ham leading a race for one of their defensive stars.
It was announced last week that rather than focusing on squad development with new manager Ruben Amorim, the club is now looking to overhaul their squad, with the majority of the team up for sale as of January.
The biggest name listed is Marcus Rashford, whose hefty wage and concerns around his off-pitch lifestyle are the main drivers for his potential departure from the club.
These concerns were seemingly backed up by Amorim omitting him from his squad to take on Manchester City, which thanks to Amad Diallo, ended as a 2-1 win.
Before the game, Amorim addressed his selection in the press conference, commenting: “I pay attention to everything, the way you eat, the way you put your clothes to go to a game. Everything.”
He added: “I make my evaluation and then I decide. There is a communication after the last training. They [Marcus Rashford and Alejandro Garnacho] are alright. They had training this morning and I was there. They trained really well.
“We try to evaluate everything training performance, game performances, engagement with teammates, push their teammates up. Everything is on the line when we analyse and try to choose the players. It is my selection. Simple.”
These comments, especially referring to eating and presentation, suggest there is more going on off the pitch with Rashford affecting Amorim’s decisions.
Now, with Rashford open to leave the club in January, another star could be on the move too.
Caught Offside have reported that Newcastle and West Ham are now battling for the services of Victor Lindelof.

Newcastle and West Ham United battle for Victor Lindelof
Lindelof’s contract is set to expire in the summer, with the centre-back eligible for a pre-contract agreement in January to commit to a new club for the summer.
As such, United could also be open to a cut-price offer to generate some income from their outbound star. The report explains that United would be open to offers between £5.9-£6.7 million (€7-8 million), however, it’s expected that most clubs will be happy to wait to sign him on a free transfer.
However, these Premier League sides are not alone, Everton and some clubs from Serie A including AC Milan, Inter Milan, Juventus, Lazio and Fiorentina are also interested.
