When it comes to being in burnout in Street Fighter 6, the corner is a very, very dangerous place. Being in burnout means you lose access to any Drive mechanics (as your gauge is completely gone), and if you get hit with a Drive Impact in the corner when burnt out, you’ll get stunned.
This is a common scenario that happens a lot in SF6 matches, and one of the most common ways out of this terrible position is using a level 1 super and its invincibility frames to counter the oncoming Drive Impact. However, some new tech has been discovered for multiple different characters that allows them to shut down Luke’s ability to level 1 super out of a Drive Impact when he’s burnt out.
The gist of this new tech essentially focuses on setting up the perfect timing and spacing to where Luke’s level 1 super actually clashes with the end of the Drive Impact resulting in a trade instead of the super winning outright. When done correctly, the aggressor will eat the first hit of the projectile super, but the Drive Impact will also make contact and crumple Luke in the process.
Because this is a trade, the Drive Impact-er gets their move interrupted and can move very swiftly afterwards, allowing them to follow up and combo the now crumpled Luke. Even better, this Drive Impact trade doesn’t activate the stun, so you can still pressure him with another Drive Impact afterward — especially if Luke no longer has super meter.
From the looks of it, it appears this tech was first shared by Tacanko on Twitter. They uploaded a clip showing how Ed can take advantage of this set up with a basic bread and butter combo and a back dash.
If the Google translation is correct here, it seems that Luke can still counter this with level 1 super, but he has to delay when he does the super. With the window being so tight, though, it would take very clear awareness and preparedness to counter that up front and consistently.

OlivoFGC on Twitter took the tech a little further and found that it also works for Manon and Marisa. They explain that this whole thing likely works because Luke’s level 1 super has six frames of start up and is invincible up to that 6th frame, and this set up essentially makes it so you’re hitting him on the 7th frame when he is no longer invincible.
According to OlivoFGC and what they’ve tested so far, Marisa is able to take advantage of the tech the best.
Think the way this works is that Luke SA1 is 6f and only invincible to that point. The range where it hits on 6f is very short so you are timing your DI to hit on the 7th frame of Luke’s SA as well as spacing it just so you avoid the first active frame.

Prominent content creator Broski has also tossed his hat in the ring and uploaded a clip to Twitter showing that A.K.I. can also do it.

Unless there are major changes to Drive Impact or the start up on Luke’s level 1 super, it’s likely this tech could still work when Season 2 rolls around. You’ll definitely want to lab this with your own character to see if you can use this counter against arguably the best character in the game.
