New Kameo moves also teased
Mortal Kombat 1 operates in a brand new timeline for the cast of characters we’ve seen for three decades now, which is changing up quite a bit of the lore and backstory of some of the fighters.
Sektor is of course part of that considering she’s now a woman, and a new teaser just dropped for MK1’s Khaos Reigns expansion from Ed Boon that gives a bit more away as to what’s going on with her in Liu Kang’s world.
As can be heard pretty quickly from her pre-fight confrontation with Scorpion, Sektor’s mother may not be too happy with what she’s up to in the new DLC.
And her mom’s identity is apparently none other than Madam Bo, who played a role in MK1’s cinematic story and backstory of other characters.
Madam Bo essentially serves as the new universe’s version of Bo’ Rai Cho in that she had a hand in training the Shaolin and Earthrealm defenders though she mostly just seems to run her restaurant now.
This revelation doesn’t actually come out of left field either, as Scorpion previously revealed in a pre-fight dialogue with Kung Lao that Madam Bo was once part of the Lin Kuei too.
Previously, her DLC character biography only stated Sektor’s mother was a leading Lin Kuei warrior, and she took on her father’s role of Master Armorer where she now serves as Sub-Zero’s most trusted lieutenant for their new vision of the clan.
In the original timeline, Sektor was the son of the Lin Kuei Grandmaster, and he killed and usurped the title in both prior series of events.
That couldn’t be the case in the current world, however, considering the Grandmaster of this time was the father of Sub-Zero and Scorpion before certain events went down.
On top of that, Boon also gives fans a new combo sequence for the upcoming DLC fighter, which also gives an indication of something else that’s coming in the Khaos Reigns update.
Sonya can be seen performing a new Kameo attack from the air where she does a divekick that slams Scorpion into the ground and then hits him OTG with a rising bicycle kick.
This likely indicates that most if not all previous Kameo characters will have at least one new move added to their arsenal in the upcoming expansion, which is nice to see.
Up to this point, new Kameo DLC has not been confirmed to be part of Khaos Reigns, but Boon did recently question fans about a few potential choices they could go with including the killer doll Chucky.
Considering we already received a teaser and then full trailer for Cyrax earlier this month, a longer gameplay trailer for Sektor is probably coming within the next week or so as well followed by Noob Saibot likely in September.
Mortal Kombat 1’s Khaos Reigns expansion is set to release on September 24 containing a new Story Mode plus Sektor, Cyrax and Noob Saibot as playable characters while Scream’s Ghostface, Conan the Barbarian and the Terminator T-1000 are coming next year.
