New Sektor Brutality and Kameo moves revealed in Mortal Kombat 1

NetherRealm Studios put on its latest Kombat Kast Thursday morning in which developers showed off a ton of new content en route to Mortal Kombat 1. While the biggest news of the day has to be the in-depth presentation of upcoming DLC characters Cyrax and Sektor, the team also revealed that a few nostalgic moves are coming back to the fray.

Said moves are coming by way of Kameo characters, and today’s Kast shows two: Sub-Zero’s ice clone and Jax’ gotcha grab. We get to see both of these in action along with a full match of Sektor gameplay, capped off with a never before seen Brutality.

The coming Khaos Reigns update will bring with it a new balance patch that introduces updated move properties along with entirely new moves. Sub-Zero’s ice clone has two distinct functions as the Kameo version of the character hops in and actually turns the main user into an ice clone momentarily.

As has long been the case for this classic move, if the opponent physically touches the clone, they themselves will become frozen. If they’re waiting things out, however, Kameo Sub-Zero can choose to throw the clone across the screen at his foe, so there’s a natural mix up in this parry type maneuver.

Jax is getting one of the specials he was introduced with all the way back in Mortal Kombat 2: the gotcha grab. Here the character grabs his opposition by the throat, lifts them up with one arm, and pounds their face with the other for a few repetitions.

For those of you who’d like to start with the goriest part, here’s the Brutality sequence from the very end of the Kast. Sektor flies through her opponent, slicing them into a few distinct pieces, and finishes them off by doing this once more to their head:

Below you’ll find the entire Kombat Kast, which actually gets started at the 10 minute mark. There’s a brief showcase of the updated version of Havik starting around 16:10, and a showcase of incoming Kameo changes beginning at 18:18. The Cyrax presentation begins at 21:40, Sektor presentation is at 28:49, and the full match ending with the new Brutality begins at 35:18.

Cyrax, Sektor, and Noob Saibot will all be available on September 24 along with the Khaos Reigns story expansion. Ghostface, the T-1000, and Conan the Barbarian will become available at later dates.
