The Khaos Reigns update for Mortal Kombat 1 is set to drop on September 24. Cyrax, Sektor, and Noob Saibot will all become available then, with Ghostface, the T-1000, and Conan the Barbarian joining later.
Gameplay and story trailers have already been released for Cyrax and Sektor. Now at long last, Noob Saibot’s trailer has been unveiled.
At some point during Khaos Reigns’ story, Havik will attack Liu Kang’s realm. Though the Lin Kuei at this point are seen as enemies by the forces of Earthrealm and Outworld, they form an uneasy alliance with the hopes of fighting back against the threat that Havik poses.
Ultimately, Sub-Zero, Bi-Han, decides to pursue Havik by himself. Needless to say, this brazen decision proves to be Bi-Han’s undoing as Havik is then able to transform Bi-Han into Noob Saibot.
However, the latest trailer seems to hint that Noob Saibot could break free from Havik’s control. Evidently, it seems that much of the story expansion will be about saving Bi-Han’s soul.
In terms of gameplay, Noob Saibot is bringing some interesting new tools to the table. One of his projectiles has him firing off a green orb, which can later be detonated if it hits the opponent.
What’s interesting is that Noob Saibot can actually command his shadow to throw this green projectile, after a long charge up period, while acting independently.
Noob Saibot’s Fatal Blow looks to be particularly brutal, even for Fatal Blow standards. By the end of the sequence, Noob Saibot and his shadow will land hard kicks against the opponent’s skull from opposite sides.
As for his Fatality, Noob Saibot commands his shadow to attack the opponent’s shadow. After a brief delay, the other entity will emerge from the enemy’s body, in the most painful way possible.
Finally, Noob Saibot transforms into an alligator or crocodile for his new Animality. What’s interesting about this Animality is that Noob Saibot’s shadow will also undergo a transformation during this sequence.
