New mod adds Street Fighter 6's Ryu to Super Smash Bros. Ultimate

The big recent reveal of Street Fighter 6 gave us a closer look at the series’ poster boy’s updated look. Ryu is bulkier than ever, sports his “Hot Ryu” facial hair, and now wears a cloak similar to his master Gouken’s.

Fans seems to be pretty happy with Ryu’s new design, and one such fan created a mod to add it to Super Smash Bros. Ultimate.

This mod comes from the mind of Large Leader, who released a few screenshots and a download link for the skin swap. Dimichi1 on Twitter also contributed to the project by providing a unique stock icon that looks like the new Ryu.

The creator notes that this mod is mainly a costume swap, so it doesn’t appear as though we’ll be seeing any of Street Fighter 6 Ryu’s new techniques in play here. This mod, however, does appear to be safe for use online.

From the images provided, Street Fighter 6 Ryu looks like a great fit in Smash Ultimate. It’s awesome to see that the creator even went ahead and added his new sandals to the fighter — a major talking point after they were shown during the very first teaser trailer for the game.

Street Fighter 6 won’t be out until next year, but hey, if you’re looking to get that itch scratched somehow, this new mod might be a fun way of doing so for you.
