The highly anticipated Marvel vs. Capcom Fighting Collection: Arcade Classics compilation from Marvel and Capcom still doesn’t have a release date, and fans are chomping at the bit to know when they’ll finally be able to get their hands on it. While we wait for its launch, which is slated for sometime here in 2024, the companies behind the exciting assortment of classic fighting games continue to release information and fresh looks at the upcoming game.
A new Marvel vs. Capcom Fighting Collection: Arcade Classics trailer has been released that this time focuses on the second entry in the catalog of Marvel and Capcom collaborative Versus games, Marvel Super Heroes.
“Set in MARVEL’s comic book crossover ‘Infinity Gauntlet,’ MARVEL SUPER HEROES features the X-Men and other iconic MARVEL Super Heroes!” writes the game’s official Twitter account. “Go sky-high with the new Aerial Rave and Infinity Gem effects to take down Thanos.”
Though this title doesn’t feature any of the Street Fighter or Capcom characters that later Versus series titles do, it is considered the second stepping stone toward what would ultimately be the start of a legendary crossover.
Marvel Super Heroes was originally released in arcades back in 1995, with console ports on the Sega Saturn and PlayStation following in late 1997. This title would be the final Marvel-centric fighting game in the series from Capcom, with the Capcom side of characters being included in the next game the very next year with X-Men vs. Street Fighter’s release.
This new Marvel vs. Capcom Fighting Collection: Arcade Classics trailer showcases the various mechanics and abilities you’ll find in Marvel Super Heroes when you hop back in to play it. Based on Infinity Gauntlet, this Versus series game is also the first to include the Infinity Stones as useable game mechanics, which we’d later see brought back in 2017 with Marvel vs. Capcom: Infinite.
The trailer also provides a brief look at some of the awesome Marvel Super Heroes concept art that you’ll be able to find within the compilation’s gallery.
Be sure to check out the new trailer below, and once you’re done, make sure you back track and watch the previous one that showcases where the Marvel vs. Capcom story all began: X-Men Children of the Atom.
