Another game trailer for the highly anticipated Marvel vs. Capcom Fighting Collection: Arcade Classics has arrived as the MvC channel has posted a new showcase for Marvel Superheroes vs. Street Fighter.
This title hit arcades back in 1997 and was the first in franchise history to include the now-expected assist mechanic as players choose teams of two to go into battle with.
Superheroes vs. Street Fighter expanded on the success from the year prior’s X-Men vs. Street Fighter, which offered tag team combat wherein players could mix and match characters from both Marvel and Capcom.
Beyond bringing in additional fighters from both properties, SvSF added the ability for players to call upon the character in waiting to jump in and perform a brief assist instead of taking over the fight entirely.
Though this mechanic would be tweaked and toyed with in subsequent franchise entries, it ultimately became a non-negotiable part of the Marvel vs. Capcom identity. In other words, this game set a trend that there was no going back from.
Check out the new trailer for the old title below and share in the comments how excited you are to play this game again, now on modern platforms.
If you haven’t seen them already be sure to check out the new trailers for X-Men Children of the Atom and Marvel Super Heroes.
Marvel vs. Capcom Fighting Collection: Arcade Classics is scheduled to release digitally on September 12 and physically on November 22, 2024 on Nintendo Switch, PlayStation 4 and Steam.
