New gameplay trailer, beta details, and more... here's everything you need to know about Virtua Fighter 5 R.E.V.O.

Sega has released a brand-new trailer for Virtua Fighter 5 R.E.V.O., an extremely long-awaited update to 2006’s Virtua Fighter 5. The trailer showcases the game’s upgraded visuals, new features, and extensive bonus content, offering fans a tantalizing look at what to expect from this exciting revamped title, slated to release on January 28, 2025.

Below you’ll find all the details in terms of what R.E.V.O. offers, how to access the open beta on Steam, and the full game play trailer.

Virtua Fighter 5 R.E.V.O. builds upon the core gameplay of Virtua Fighter 5 and introduces a host of exciting features. The first of these is rollback netcode, something the fighting game community has become quite opinionated about since 2006. This enhanced online stability ensures smooth matches for players worldwide.

R.E.V.O. also brings with it stunning 4K visuals that breathe life into the game’s iconic characters and stages. We’ve rounded up a handful of stills in the gallery below for you to appreciate.

Players who pre-order or purchase Virtua Fighter 5 R.E.V.O. by February 3, 2025 will receive the exclusive Sega hardware Custom item set. These include Sega Genesis, Saturn, and Dreamcast replicas, which are also pictured in the gallery. These items won’t be available for purchase after the promotional period, so best to nab them now if they tickle your fancy.

Given that this is a 30th anniversary celebration of the franchise, Sega is rolling out a treasure trove of exclusive content. This includes new costumes for the entire cast, including swimwear options for all. You’ll also be able to relive the series’ history with a comprehensive soundtrack collection that includes more than 200 tracks.

This includes previously unreleased themes from the Virtua Fighter 2 era. Highlights include the opening song of Virtua Fighter 5 R.E.V.O., “Burning Souls,” and Jacky’s rearranged theme, “Don’t Think, Feel.”

The goodies don’t end there as fans can delve into ultra-rare sketches and pre-production art from the original Virtua Fighter. You’ll also be able to show off your passion with 30 new rank title designs available exclusively for this edition.

Two bonus DLC packs are en route as well, including the Yakuza Series Collaboration Pack and the Virtua Fighter Legendary Pack. The former includes costumes inspired by characters from the Like a Dragon/Yakuza series, newly arranged music from Virtua Fighter 3, and special stamps to hype up your fights.

The latter pack offers customization items, character models, stages, and music based on the original Virtua Fighter, but please note that original Virtua Fighter stages are unavailable for online matches.
