The King of Fighters along with the likes of Tekken are both celebrating their 30th anniversaries this year, and there’s a lot of legacy to look back on.
As part of the festivities, SNK is continuing to reveal concept art and share posters for the early KOF games now ranging from ’94 through 2003.
This is the second time we’ve gotten to feature this classic artwork where we were previously able to compare the original ending art drafts to their final in-game conclusions.
We aren’t going to be going over all of the individual pieces here now, but the gallery is put together in terms of the game releases in chronological order.
That way you can see an evolution of the series as it happened, how characters like Kyo and Athena evolved over the early years and when the second main generation including K’, Maxima, Kula, Duo Lon, and more were added to the NESTS era.
Another part of the celebrations is SNK dropping the price of King of Fighters 15 by 80% though there’s only a few days left to claim the good deal.
The developer is planning 30 releases / pieces of content for 30 years of KOF with the next part featuring phone wallpapers and stickers starting on September 13, and there’s still 25 we don’t know of yet.
You can check out two dozen pieces of classic King of Fighters art below, and a bit more information on the individual works can be found on the KOF 30th anniversary X/Twitter page.
