Samson Ayokunle, the new president of the Christian Association of Nigeria (CAN) has warned President Muhammadu Buhari against giving preference to one religion above the other.
Ayokunle according Naij urged the president to maintain religious balance so as not to open the door for lawlessness.
He asked the federal government to maintain balance and keep close to constitution irrespective of the religious belief of those in government.
The new CAN president described the attack on a Christian in Kaduna by some youths because he was eating during the month of Ramadan as an act of religious intolerance.
He advised Islamic religious leaders to call their followers to order as some of them were not giving them honour with their actions.
News Express reports that the cleric who also criticised the enlistment of Nigeria into a coalition under the aegis of Organisation of Islamic Countries (OIC), said he foresaw his election to lead Christians in Nigeria since 2015.
Ayokunle who is also, President of Nigerian Baptist Convention, made the revelation in an interview with journalists immediately after his election in Abuja.
