It sometimes feels like the time has flown by, but the first competitive season for Street Fighter 6 will be reaching its climax and conclusion in just over a month from now.
Longtime Japanese Street Fighter pro WPRZT|Nemo put together what he labels as his definitive tier list for SF6 Season 1, or we should say tier lists because he made two of them for slightly different purposes.
His first is what he calls his normal tier list based on where he thinks a character’s strength is overall.
The former number one ranked Street Fighter 4 arcade player isn’t one to downplay his main character in this game it seems considering he goes straight to putting JP in the top slot in S tier.
That’s followed by Luke and interestingly Guile to round out his top three though it gets a bit harder for him from there to round out the rest of the best.
We recently witnessed a lot of debate surrounding Ken’s placement when 00|Phenom questioned a bunch of other Japanese pros that largely put him outside of their top 5, and Nemo goes back and forth for a minute as to whether the Shoto should get that spot or if it should go to Chun-Li.
Compared to his previous tier list from after A.K.I. released, there are some definite shifts although a lot of it comes down to how he categorizes the fighters.
Nemo’s second tier list is based on tournament performance that leaves everyone in B rank and below pretty much the same, but there are some big shake ups at the top.
In this ranking, JP falls down to fourth and Ken rockets up to second with the pro describing that everyone above his character have “insane Drive Rushes that are hard to stop” as well as strong throw loops once they get in.
This is also what boosts Juri up above Chun-Li, but he also values side-switching combos for these tournament rankings.
He also describes how Guile is still underdeveloped and has the potential to be number one, and if JP wasn’t as strong as he is, he’d probably be a Guile main now.
You can check out both of Nemo’s tier lists below made just before the Capcom Pro Tour Japan qualifier as well as his video discussing his picks, which does have English subtitles built in for our ease of viewing.
