It feels like the action just started not that long ago, but the Capcom Pro Tour 2024 is already in the home stretch with another Capcom Cup 11 finalist earning a spot here very soon.
Blink Respawn 2024 is going down this weekend as the second-to-last CPT Premier event of the season drawing some of the best Street Fighter 6 talent in the world, and before the finals kick off, we’ve gathered the top 32 and 64 character stats for the tournament to see who made it farthest in the bracket.
Starting out with the top 32, we ended up seeing 15 of SF6’s current 24 characters receive main play with 10 of them being repeats.
Surprisingly, JP would be the most popular character of this upper bracket, which is similar to what we found during our recent Legend rank breakdown for the game, but none of the Psycho Powered accountants would crack the top 8.
Instead, the final day will include Ken, Rashid, Juri, Zangief, M. Bison and 2 Luke mains while some early favorites to go the distance at Respawn like Bandits|Caba and Illicit|Kusanagi falling short of the finish line.
In this part of the tournament, 43.8% of players mained one of the top 5 characters, and this top 32 represents the best 19.8% of players who signed up.
• JP – 4 (2)
• Ken – 3 (2)
• M. Bison – 3 (1)
• Akuma – 3 (1)
• Luke – 3
• Zangief – 3
• Blanka – 2
• Ed 2 -
• Guile – 2
• Rashid – 2
• Terry – 1 (1)
• A.K.I. – 1
• Juri – 1
• Marisa – 1
• Ryu – 1
• Cammy – 0 (2)
• Chun-Li – 0 (1)
• Dee Jay – 0
• Dhalsim – 0
• E. Honda – 0
• Jamie – 0
• Kimberly – 0
• Lily – 0
• Manon – 0
As for the top 64, all but one character saw play, which unsurprisingly ended up being Lily.
This is also seemingly the best performance we’ve seen out of Terry players at a CPT Premier so far though we still haven’t gotten to see the latest DLC character reach a major top 8 yet.
It probably comes at little shock that Ken and M. Bison are up at the very top in terms of popularity overall, however, getting 5 of each Ryu and Zangief that far in the tournament is more unexpected.
Between these top four characters, a whopping 37.5% of players mained at least one of them, but 16 fighters were chosen at least twice overall (plus secondary choices).
Overall, we’ve gotten to see a fairly varied tournament in the Dominican Republic even if the highest contenders to make things a bit more top heavy.
We could also have a double CPT Premier win season on our hands if Falcons|MenaRD manages to go the distance from the losers bracket.
